The hamsters really died today...

Towers in siege were missing, and entire game just went down the toilet during siege today. Nothing was moving (though I could move my toon around), then 15 minutes later all 15 minutes of things that happened would fast forwards at 30x speed until it freezes again lol.

The game has been breaking in the same way for a constant month now, and at least once a week.

The fix seems to be super simple for the sysadmins to 'fix' (the fix seems temporary..) but no long-term solution seems to have been made.

No towers in siege seems to be dependant on if the guild you're facing in siege was/is having guild issues recently. Not sure on the timeframe, but that's what I've come to notice whenever my guild had siege and there were no towers. Pure speculation, btw.

same thing happens everytime we don't have maintenance for 2 weeks. Relax, take a chill pill and roll with it ;-)

did someone forget that it was the holidays?? did everyone get their presents? I bet GM's too have families and loved ones they wanted to be with for the holidays. Also they did mention they were gonna be short staffed during this period.

Tomorrow will probably be maintenance day and everything will be back on the regular schedule. Then people will find something else to moan about. Ya it sucks that towers be missing in siege, lag issues or zones down, well it is part of the game, i don't like it, but there is nothing i can do about it. I report what issues i have through support and IRC and hope it gets better.

Has anyone taken the time to wish : MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR to the GM team!!!!!

Two days.

That's how many days have had holidays in the past 2 weeks

There's no excuse for why a weekly maintenance can't be performed. Certainly not because of the holidays being the reason maintenance hasn't been done. That's bs.

If a holiday fell on "maintenance day", do it the next day. It's not like it can ONLY be done early Tuesday morning or else they have to try again the following Tuesday.

And it's not like there's been no one working for two weeks. They made sure to get sales out on schedule, that's for sure. So someone can get a server maintenance going.

That's the thing, it's not something else people will be moaning about, it will be THE SAME EXACT THING. As BB said, its been happening for probably over a month now where servers act up randomly during different times. It's not like a 'weekly' maintenance will fix that.

Well that is what i like about European companies, they have holidays too and also : They do not all coincide with the North American side!!!

Here is proof

https://www.facebook.com/gameforge?fref=nf

Does North America have a holiday tomorrow?? Can i ask any of you to show up for work on the 4th of july?? and the 1st of July for Canada? i don't think so.

If you've only had 2 days vacation for Christmas time, it's not my fault or Gameforge's fault. Also if you guys would have taken the time to do another trace route, you would have found out that GTT.net was acting up again. That is not Gameforge's fault here again, it's just the crappy internet provider from the US side. I wrote them an e-mail 2 days ago and they said they would be looking into it, funny my ping went from 439ms to 135ms as of yesterday. Still too high because i ussed to have 47ms before they started using that hop, but ah well.

Take the time to figure what is the problem, if it's not server side, it might be your internet provider, might be your router, modem, computer or the overall internet network. We've been having issues ever since some hackers have decided to stop a movie being shown in the movie theaters, why not, entirely possible. We've even had a guildie that got is connection hacked by a neighbor lolll, he went knocking and gave him a piece of his mind and everything went back to normal. Funny the things we do not think about when were are just trying to get mad at stuff at our computer chair.

Once again Zid, you get on your soap box about something completely off topic. Which shows nothing but ranting for the sake of a post count.

The server issues YOU just went on a tangent about have absolutely nothing to do with all the issues we've been talking about. So before you point your troll fingers at the players ill reiterate in case you're having trouble reading the posts in this thread and others that have been posting about this for two weeks now:

mailboxes not working, towers missing in siege, being stuck in the house zone, auction house not working, etc, all have absolutely NOTHING to do with any players internet or modem or router or computer or service provider.

I suppose you're gonna try to tell me that the issues Aqualink posted about Osha's Wheel of (Mis)Fortune being out of order is every single player on Osha's fault with their computer or internet too right?

Try again.

And again, you fail to read and comprehend that, regardless of what country you live in, there simply weren't enough holidays to use that as an excuse for why a maintenance couldn't have been performed SOME DAY between the last one two weeks ago and now. And to try to use that as your rebuttal as to why a maintenance wasn't performed is nonsense, much like your entire post.

If you have ping issues, start a new thread, as this one is related to server breaking issues on Gameforge's side.

well they did mention before the holidays they would have reduced staff at Gameforge, now they are telling us it is a National holiday in Germany tomorrow. We all knew that if issues occurred during that time, they would probably not be fixed before the next maintenance, guess what? it's gonna be Wednesday as stated. GM's can only do so much, they are not coding the game, they are players like us.

Also if they removed the wheel of fortune, maybe it's because everyone who used it got +20 jewels all the time? We've haven't faced a guild yet that didn't have their towers, although it would make it fun, not worrying about towers and just going for kills loll.

Because you do not like my opinion on things i have posted, it is not a reason to go on and blablabla about soap box, trolling. I have a valid point but you are the one on the soap box. I was just voicing my opinion but apparently you are the only one allowed to post on the forums now, especially if it is not going in your line of thinking.

Also Aqualink posted the issue, reported it and advise the players on the forums, what else do you want him/her to do??

P.S. in Québec, we have 2 weeks construction summer vacation, 2 weeks winter holidays, about 14 days for holidays during the year, sick day leave and you can cummulate your hours after 40 hours/week and stack them to get more vacation time and those are ALL paid vacations!!!! the more you work, the more you benefit from life ;-)

If only Gameforge realised this...then the servers and/or their service might be decent.

Well Cammo, the things is that people cannot argue their opinions like i can apparently, since they need to do personal attacks, soap box etc. Like you just did, did you have anything to comment about this thread at all?

Ah yes, If only Gameforge realised this...then the servers and/or their service might be decent.

Well they gave us those mythical creatures called GM's, support tickets answered within 24 hours, taking care and re-starting servers when needed within a few minutes. Have you actually been playing the game in the last year at all?

Service record for the last 12 months, pretty damn good compared to Frogster

I won't really mind if they wait till after christmas or winter holidays to fix it. Just posted this in case they thought the issue was fixed from the server restarts (which did make the game a lot more playable for 1 day). Since I have no way to tell if they know the issue still persisted after server restarts or if they thought it was fixed, i figured I'd inform them again just in case.

Not sure if thread title conveyed a different message. I always call the server farm hamsters after I think (Mattyb?) started calling it that way.

oh, how the hypocrisy of Zid strikes again..

since they need to do personal attacks

since no one agrees with you, you've resorted to personal attacks on two people now in this thread, and countless others thread before it

did you have anything to comment about this thread at all?

did YOU have anything to bring to this thread Zid?

you have literally not been on topic ONCE in this entire thread. the little soap box rant you went on with whatever ping issues was not part of the thread topic.

and the rest of your posts have been for nothing but a post count.

During the holidays there are more players out of school and out of work. Therefore there are far more players on the servers. Not staffing the servers with more support staff during the holidays is same as not staffing stores with more staff before Christmas to cover the rush.
This just shows a total lack of business sense.
You can't use bankers hours or store hours to set your staffing levels for computer gaming servers. You staff computer gaming servers for the times they will be used. Follow the example of Blizzard the most successful game servers. Look into their server staffing and staffing times for GMs etc. Their staff is its highest at the times the servers are used, Night time for the appropriate servers and more staff on weekends and holidays.
The job is for the hours of use not the 9 to 5 business world. If you have ever read the forums for ROM during problems they will say that they are trying to contact or wake up people at night and bring them in to handle the problems that come up during the hours when people are gaming.
They are trying to run this business as standard 1st shift job while its players are 2nd and 3rd shift users. The same problem happens on holidays more users less support staff. It is no wonder the game is losing players. The new players come in and try new games during holidays when they have a lot of time and the same time ROM has no support staff and the most users so what do they see; terrible lag and no support combined with delayed maintenance to exasperate the problems even more.
Some one should explain the difference between running a bank with bankers hours and staffing only during banking hours and running a computer gaming service which you should staff at night and holidays. You build your staffing around when your customers need to be served not when you would like to work.

Well they gave us those mythical creatures called GM's, support tickets answered within 24 hours, taking care and re-starting servers when needed within a few minutes. Have you actually been playing the game in the last year at all?

I havn't been playing on Thalia (waste of time that is....) but I had been playing on Govinda for the past year and a half, so yes, I have been playing RoM and probably too much.
If you honestly think what Gameforge has supplied us currently is good then you need a reality check. In regards to support, all they have given is 'quantity' with the usually sever lacking of quality with their standard cookie cutter responses and persistent dodging around questions/answers (and no, I am not talking about simple stuff like some idiot deleting their gear by accident and getting it returned).

Call those that were on the AUS server spoiled, curse them, I don't care, but when Frogster was running Thalia they had a contract with a small Au business that managed Thalia in regards to IS pricing and sales along with all support etc. We could actually suggest sales on Au forum back then and actually expect something close to it by that weekend or the next..

There were 3 GM's in total and there was 90% of the time at least 1 GM online during working ours (I mean actually online, in GAME talking to people, assisting with issues, banning people exploiting Sardo (me lmao)... there were even times when they would let us declare war on their 'Moderator' guild and it would be us v's 2 or 3 of them (we killed 1 of them once :P Apparently their buffs don't stick around after death as well, so we just 2 shot him after he res'ed lol)..

Sure, it was only 1 server, but how fking hard would it be to even do half of that as a large business. They still don't listen to the player base about sales (I guess you'll say their attempt at a poll for recon runes, and then adding them for...what was it? 249 dias per VII?, is a legit example). Prices/sales should be different per region too, but they can't even manage sales that are not retarded, let alone 2 (3 if you count dead thalia (Did I mention it was Gameforge that screwed over an entire server of players?)) sets of sales at once.

Oh and restarting the server could be done remotely anyway...
