What is the current situation on rom servers?

Hello RoM community,
I used to play this game like a year ago,and really enjoyed it,but the routine of dailys,minis bored me and i left,now i'm considering give the game one more try,because i know how fun it can be,so i have couple of questions and would like to say thank you in advance for the answers.
1-I would like to join a friendly guild,by friendly i mean,a guild which helps new players .Of course i'll grind itens/gold/level on my own but is always nice to receive some help,so I would like to know if someone can invite me (if i decide to play RoM again)
2-I heard about server merge,is it really going to happen,if so it doesn't matter which server i choose right?or am i wrong?
3-I love mages so ... :),was thinking about m/wd,i love this dual class system

1) the friendly guild would depend on the server. I know on Reni, Wõlfpack, Chiropterascall, and Knightshift are all friendly guilds.

2) the server merge should be happening. I'd expect the whole merge to happen around summer time (my own personal hypothesis) and I doubt the pvp servers will remain (I could be wrong, though)

3) currently, the best mage combos are considered to be m/w, followed by m/wd for dps. For debuffs, the best mage is a dwarf m/wl.

Mylenne may be on. try whispering her. You could probably also whisper Wrathbringer to try to get him to contact her if that doesn't work. If all else fails, I'll be on in about an hour.
