For Reni/Artemis/Thalia

Would any guild leaders/officers, would like to have a voice chat reunion before or after the merge with each other? Would be nice to be able to talk to the new people on each server and their expectations on what the merge will procure to everyone. Have a melting pot of ideas and suggestions, best times for running instances, making PUG groups, etc...

I would like to hear from active players from all 3 servers on this, this applies to Reni/Artemis/Thalia servers only please and no trolling.

Since we will soon all play together, might as well learn more about each others ;-)

Pick a time and a venue (voice chat server) and I'm pretty sure you'll get a good turnout for this. Weekend might be best, so the AU people can attend in the morning at the same time as US evening.

Alternatively, could do it on the RoM IRC channel (channel #runesofmagic.us at irc.OnlineGamesNet.net port 6660).

More onto this point, not that I'm trying to get you to stay away from the "main" channel, but IRC is great for hosting large chats of lots of people. If you need a channel dedicated to this purpose just join a channel, something like #RoM.us-NewArtemis and you can chat in there, too. No need to use a channel that is already established, is what I'm getting at.

I used to play RoM way back when, but came back for a little after we got the third class option. I soon noticed that not many people played and quit again. This whole server merge thing might be just enough to get this game back up on its feet. Now if we could just get a little more customer support... Either way, I'm very excited for this merge and its good to hear from you Zedlef, i haven,t heard from you since back when I was in Phoenix lol.

I don't know what we would all need to talk about unless its people who already know and want to run with each other

on Artemis our trade and Trade private channels are rather active and people looking for groups often post there. If you can get within the 'cool crowd' there's other channels too for grouping end game.

Might be a good idea to have a flat out pug channel after the merge but something like that is better advertised in world after the point.

Well Kalic, support is actually pretty good now with the team of GM's and fast responses too. Hope to see you around when the merge happens ;-).

On a server with Zid an Bakken.
Might be enough reason to come back right there.

Yeah to be honest I think the thing I'm looking to more than the economy boost (Crossed fingers for that) is the clashing of egos on the new server. That's gonna be fun to watch.

I disagree. I believe that there is much that can be discussed moving forward that will greatly ameliorate the merger experience.
Some topics that come to mind are:

1. The economy. Working together to establish “norms” such as the fair market value of diamonds, stats, gear, etc. Many consumer players who prefer to gear themselves through the AH will argue for lower prices after the merger while crafters will most certainly want more for their wares. Coming to at least some consensus before hand will help stabilize the new economy with fewer growing pains.

2. World bosses. More people and more guilds equal more competition for farming world bosses. Identifying those who are actively farming
those bosses and working out some sort of schedule or process that doesn’t lock out newer groups will help avoid a lot of potential drama.

3. Communication channels. “trade”, “Trade”, “freeworldchat”, etc. – I believe that the combined community should come together and agree on what chat channels to support – i.e. adding a “pug” channel or picking either “trade” or “Trade” but not both. Whatever the group decides make it public knowledge – information in RoM isn’t a commodity that needs to be horded.

These are just three examples and I’m sure if people put their minds to it many more can be identified. Nothing wrong with trying to be proactive with this, GJ Zid and those like minded in this. :)

I can sort those out for you right now, no need to have a server wide discussion about it.

1. Economy - The people with the gear/dias/stats etc will put them up for whatever they want and prices will quickly normalize based on what is selling and what isn't, that's how an economy works. I can try to sell you a 94 Honda Accord for $30,000 but you won't buy it for that.. You will look at the price of others sold recently and you will pay a similar price for a similar product.

No need to predetermine beforehand what prices to sell things at, it all falls into place.

2. World bosses - You snooze, you lose. That's how it has always has and always will work. The people who get there first upon the boss spawning will get the boss. I assume guilds will go back to using timers to keep up on world bosses now that there will be roughly double the amount of endgamers playing on the same server.. Gotta be quick..

And don't forget, the drama is the best part :D

3. Communication - there is no "whatever the group decides".. who is the group you speak of? Trade chat is fairly similar on all servers. Generally there is a "Trade" channel. On Reni we happen to have 2 because people are too lazy to type a capital T every time they join trade chat. Generally the same people are in both channels so it doesn't really make sense.

This, like everything else will normalize once the server has been merged. No need for a discussion to float people's egos into thinking they are more important than they are because they are part of "the important discussion"

This is going to be 100% true for both servers post-merge (Artemis and Govinda.) You can discuss it all you want but its a moot point, no one's gonna tell anyone what they can and can't sell their items for. They'll get the highest price they can for them and if anyone doesn't like it, they don't have to buy it.

2. World bosses - You snooze, you lose. That's how it has always has and always will work. The people who get there first upon the boss spawning will get the boss. I assume guilds will go back to using timers to keep up on world bosses now that there will be roughly double the amount of endgamers playing on the same server.. Gotta be quick..

also true. with merged servers adding to the end gamers and elite guilds, it'll be either a first come first serve basis, or (and very much less likely) a very fragile coalition between the end game guilds for world boss control. there never was and never will be a scheduled time people run world bosses, and 9.999 times out of 10 someone or someones from said end game guild has an alt parked there just waiting for it to spawn so they can smash, grab and go.

No need for a discussion to float people's egos into thinking they are more important than they are because they are part of "the important discussion"

and that's exactly what this thread is. an attempt to exert importance that is not there and wont be given. attempting to establish a "Grand Council" of people who set the standard will not happen, nor will their attempted standards be enforced or have any sway on the community as a whole.

what i SUSPECT will happen, is that whichever server merged on each target server that has the highest concentration of players moving over will eventually establish the "norm" from their server, and everyone else will have to adapt.

should that be the case? maybe not. but it certainly wont be at all enforceable to establish whatever regulations on the server the "Grand Council Egotists" think they have the power to do

We already have a PUG channel on Reni and it works fine, no drama and lots of fun. Ego's?? well we have seen 3 people with them in this thread and shows the simple and single minded way they think. Smaller guilds will have to work together to get stuff going i guess yet again.

It is with discussion that we can accomplish things and settle differences. Tuulikki good points you brought out and i just wish i can get people like us to enjoy the game and have fun.

When the merge happens be sure to look for Disturbed members if you need help with stuff, we will be glad to help and our friends in other guilds from Reni.

BTW a big thanks from Artemis people who send me stuff from their alts before they deleted them from Reni, it was really appreciated and i hope i can return the favor at the merge ;-)

LOL - well, we're all entitled to our opinions. My thought is if anyone can't or won't get behind these ideas that's on them and they can simply chose not to be involved with any discussions. Likewise, anyone who does support the idea should do so at what ever their comfort level.

Debate this how you will, though perhaps a few less snarky comments might go a long way towards gathering support for any opposition. Everyone should at least have the opportunity to have their voice heard and to try to affect change or not affect change as their conscience dictates without fear of being trolled over expressing their opinions.

My issue isn't personal with anyone here.

My issue is with the idea as a whole. Why does there need to be a discussion about anything before the merge? Things fall into place fine and if you think you are gonna have any sway over the server or the endgamers who sell 90% of the Gear/stats etc you are just kidding yourself.

Feel free to have your Grand Council. It will be a misrepresentation of the server because the people that drive the prices and control the world bosses most likely won't be there.

The only people with egos are the people who think they are important enough to be able to call a meeting like this together when they in reality have no say over anything but their own guild.

You don't run the server, you never will and never have even been remotely close to it. Stop trying to control things. Straight up.

Get to know people - yes the idea is good.

But if you think you're going to make ANY decisions on ANYTHING you're simply deluded. Straight and simple. Nobody is going to abide by anything anyone tries to mandate. People are going to do what they want to until everything settles naturally.
