So now that we have more people on we are getting massive ping spikes. Methinks your itemshop is hitting the database far too hard.

The gui interface is horrible. Why in the world would anyone think that two large pictures and a sideways list down at the bottom that people need to scroll through would make anyone happy? You made more work for us not less.

The load time is horrible. At first i didn't think you had any categories on this thing.

Then there is the item 'preview' click on an item and you get a larger version of the item loaded into the same window... Now we can't see what a mount or costuming looks like before we buy it.

What is up with the tiny image surrounded by a large box? I'm using a 29 inch monitor and even i can barely tell what the icon is showing.

The old item shop may have been primitive but it was 100 times easier and more useful than what was implemented.

I'm extremely disappointed in this. I used to test software. There is no way I would have allowed this to go out in front of customers.

While the interface is bad, i'm more concerned about potential security flaws.

This is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. It's like they want the game to be dead.

After reading all this I really wanted to see the new IS. Even maybe send some nice feedback like "well gifteable house energy is cool". But I cant. Cause I just cant open the IS :D I get a nice grey screen. And yes, I gave it time (I want to think that 15 mins is enough). And yes I deleted all the "morphoclock" files that my "search tool" was able to find in my computer. And no, I dont feel like deleting ALL my addons. OP IS :bday:

Well... I did put away my Interface folder and opened a game free of addons. And guess whaaaat ! It's still not working ! I still gave it a few mins... the grey screen (aka the supposed IS) suddenly close on me and I'm sending to an error webpage where they tell me to "try again once the error has been fixed.". So, I'm just wondering when will it be?

Oh yeah, realized it's Friday, weekend sale should be on, gulp and take a look.

Mishmash of items with no real way of telling what's on sale via the interface, though an educated guess figures mosta it out.
No previews, which is too bad as I may have wanted one of those cats (or both).

I guess my pocketbook will be happy for awhile. If I'm not spending my dias I won't need to buy more.

I actually like the new shop

First! I actually like the new item shop (at least conceptually). the load time gets better and the layout is nice. plus with it being a web browser i assume they have added some of the lua functionality back in? (the possibility of lua functions and the potential that web access in game brings are really bringing my opinion up here... so please don't let me be wrong).

the layout: B (Conceptually it is an A. the flaws lower it a bit.)
there are a few bugs with it. but, for the most part it is nice.
-I like the clean and fresh design of it.
-it is easy to search and the fact that they have both ruby and diamond items together might let you know when you are about to buy some thing that you could have bought with your surplus of rubies as apposed to your hard earned cash (or your moms depending on you age). -also there is a load time issue with the web site. perhaps removing some of the images and replacing them with colored div areas (if this is not possible then perhaps just lower the resolution a bit).

Individual items: D- (Again, conceptually great! but, missing features and load times drop the score substantially)
-with it being a web page driven shop i am hoping that this will make it easier for gameforge to maintain the shop and make changes as needed. including adding new items or returning old items that have been lost from the shop for a long time. (though this is yet to be proven and the only thing keeping this from being an F. Runewaker really missed the mark for the items.)
-a few changes though...
--mounts NEED the speed in the description.
--any thing that is rendered in the game (ie. clothing, furniture, pets, ext...) NEEDS to to have preview.
--Descriptions seem to have lost a LOT of the information during transition. did the tags fall off in transit?
--Details take too long to load. (these should be pre-loaded data that is available on mouse over as a tool tip.)
--Items should have a way to link them in-game so you can discuss purchases with people easily. this could be the tradition in-game item link or even a link that opens the item shop to that item. you could accomplish this with a copy to clipboard function from here modified with an event listener for the shift-key. this is not nearly as hard as it sounds.

Purchasing: A- (the lack of a keyed in amount is hurting you here)
this one you really hit the mark on!
-the secondary password is no longer required due to in-game security pass thru.
-the over all purchase is made easier by the diamond link right there on the item with a built in confirmation that makes you doubleclick
-the item description has nice amount selections for purchasing more of the item. there does need to be an option to manually key in the amount though.
-gifting has a nice new interface with all the options from the item screen and the ability to choose from friends and guild mates or key in a persons name.

now.. i was dreading this...

The Wheel: F (this was ruined. who will spend all their money spinning this to get up to tier 3 and have a chance, 1 chance, only one chance before the timer resets... this is baring a crash... but that's fine since no one ever crashes in this game-coughs-... ok.. lets go..
-tier 1.. really... wood... low level wood... i pay diamonds for wood.. dumb move guys...
-tier 2.. not as bad. far better than tier 1 {removed irreverent remark}
-tier 3.. great items! too bad most people can't afford the diamonds required to get there... so, no incentive in this tier. as, no one will ever hit it often enough to matter...
-keys need to last longer removed: Keys are lasting far longer than it was reported to me
-keys need to be persistent through a re-log or crash event Removed as this is not the issue it was reported to be
-the interface lags like no tomorrow and load time is way too slow
-remove low level crap white or green items from the wheel. replace them with really cheap item shop items if you want them to be junk (fine), make them item shop junk.
-items won don't stack with existing items in your itemshop bag... this needs to be fixed. {added after i noticed the issue}
*edits bring the grade up from F- to F but tipping towards the F-
TESTED after initial information was flawed:
9 spins (45 Dia)
-Oak Wood x5
-Mountain Demon Grass x5
-Beet Root x5
-Ash Wood x5
-Tin Ore x5
-Bison Grass x5
-Advanced Agg x1
-Daily reset x1
-Enhancement potion x1
(total items are actually worth the diamonds paid for the most part. but the presentation had me pissed the entire time and i just can't make my self pay more diamonds to get past the 3 keys and make it to the 2nd tier... my reaction to getting some thing good wasn't "WOOT! YES!" it was more like "About F!!!!!!!!! Time A!!!!!!!s".. so probably not the reaction you were going for here.. also, the items were dropped in my bag before the animation started... kinda ruins the experience of the wheel)

infrastructure: B (solid interface, added functionality yet poorly implemented)
-the removal of the need for a secondary password during purchase is nice
-the other features that appear to be there seem to work great if 'a bit' slow
-the ability to view basic account info from the interface is nice
-you need to add a timed recheck of the credentials so that zone hopping is not required to view the interface. long dungeons will make this a NEED item
-bonuses of a web based item shop actually go far beyond those listed previously and are only limited by the ambition and skill of runewaker and gameforge

things that are helping the score are the addition of some long awaited items in the shop (i can't pull them up to list them right now as i've been in my house for 20 minutes and the page won't load...... :doofy: )

over all i would give it some where between a 'C' and 'B-' rating... great plan needs lots of work and probably should not be out of the development phase just yet. but that makes it perfect for runewaker development...

these are my thoughts. take them or leave them as you will...

You actually pay to play?
I'm going to continue being an F2P player. However continuing to play may be short lived as they killed off the Phirius token store.
Yeah, they said that an NPC wold come soon, but knowing how RW works, It'll be 3 years

The only thing left is for the Quality Assurance Team to assure us there is NO quality to this change. Please change it back.

1. I cannot read what the item is - font is too small and for most items there is no description (yes, I got out a magnifying glass to try and verify)

2. I cannot tell what the item is - picture has no information

3. Random opening of UI - Please make it stop (terrified to zone to Bone Peak using memento port since skills don't work until UI is closed and transport drops you in the middle of mobs

4. Search function does not work - at least I think it didn't ( cannot tell if anything was actually typed in the box ** see numbers 1 and 2)

5. cannot manually search because of error message that pops up

6. Oh look.. I finally found the item I was looking for - move mouse and .. window closes - reopen - error message.

Those were just a few of the issues. Now for the question:

The item shop for this game (RoM) worked very well and if this is the item shop for all the other games, I would have to say not so much. If a change was needed (which according to most of the previous posts it was not), why not make the IS for all the other games like RoM instead?

I would say, based on the total silence from GM's, that the plan is to "wait it out".

Their theory is the players will be upset and complain for a while....but it will eventually die down and become the new "norm".

The above logic has been the ongoing demise of what was once a great game. At its base, it still is a great game in concept.

However, with continued failures such as this new CS and unbelievably failed "Wheel of Destiny", I don't see a clear path forward.

Again, change will only come if you stop spending money until the player base is heard.

I understand your hunger for official respond on the most important topics, but please noet that "GMs" (and whole RoM US Team) are not Gameforge employees and therefore they could only forward your suggestions and opinions and also adding theirs own, so please do not "jump on" them.

Please familiarize yourself with out least information here: Update: New Shop and Wheel of Destiny

More issues with the web based item shop/system. Rollback is needed.

I have looked at the interface in more detail and am going to list the things I have found to be inferior to the old shop.
Website loads every single time you open or click a button and does not cache the information like the in game client had innate icons for the shop items already loaded and therefore did not need to use up your bandwith EVERY single time you open the shop. This is really not somthing they can fix, it is innate in the web based interface concept and is in principal many many times less efficient as far as bandwith usage. I know because whenever I open the shop or hit a button it SWAMPS my internet connection for anywhere from 10-30 seconds. My pings go to 1500-Request timed out when im pinging external sites!!!! This is due to the nature of web based systems and cannot really be fixed unless they make website caching in the primitive browser interface.
Takes 20-30 seconds to load up when you hit the shop button. When you click any button to sort guess what it has to load again for at least 10-15 seconds. Want to look at an item you can no longer mouse over to see what the item does now you Have to click the details on EVERY single item and then wait for each individual web page to load for the item. Hundreds of times less efficient time wise and badwith wise and you cannot compare items at a glance. You removed capability and ease of use to give us a massively inferior shop system. Im sorry but when you have somthinge better in concept, execution, capability you can NEVER remove that experience from the user and give them an inferior product and have them eventually just accept it. Let me take your car from you and give you a horse and buggy and then tell you that its not so bad there are benefits and you will eventually like it better. I am sure people would shoot the horse and burn the buggy and go find someone who is dealing in modern cars and ditch the horse and buggy people. No matter how much fluff and bubble you put on the horse and buggy to try to make it attractive you cannot change the innate inferiority of the horse and buggy compared to the modern car.

When you open the shop you lose all ability to use your keys to control your character. I used to open the shop while fighting in dungeons and be able to buy somthing I needed while still in combat and because of the speed and awsome layout was able to do this in seconds if needed. That capability is now totally removed as all you can do now is use your mouse to click on spells and such but you cant really controll your character anymore when the "New" Item shop is open and there is no way you can buy somthing in seconds or preview without being tied up in each of the websites you open to look at details. More layers you have to peel through to get information on the many items in game is not an improvement and once again in its principal conception is flawed compared to the old system.

Some of the other forum posters have voiced there concern over security and that was actually one of the first things that came to my mind with this new shop. I am an IT professional and the addition of a web based server/system to the Runes of Magic network system possibly opens up a whole new avenue of attacks/information leaks/hacks/Vulnrabilites to your personal or game information.

Web based sofware/apps/interfaces are actually one of my pet peevs as they are never better for the end user/experience for most things. Client based sytems are almost always superior/better. The "Cloud/web based" propaganada/trend is not good in most situations and should be avoided at all costs in complex programming environments due to the many issues listed above as well as many not listed.
I cannot stress enough and I am very serious about the need to rollback this whole concept and reinstitute the in game client based shop as it is superior in hundreds of ways conceptually and in capabilities. :borg:

Respectfully Bonehawk.

Yeah, I put real money into this game.

Not as much as some, but I've always been willing to support a game I enjoy playing. It makes things a lil quicker, a lil easier, and a lil more fun.

I have a fully opened house and a pretty loaded closet on my main toon and enjoy fiddling with both. 'Also have slots opened on alternate toons homes and CS wearables in the closets of other accounts. Don't even get me started on mounts.

I'm in it to have fun and I have fun with stuff like that just as much as I do running instances or capping out my toon.

If noone put money into this game we wouldn't get change... we'd get closure. That's certainly not what I want, despite issues that crop up over time.

What I said at the end of my post wasn't meant as some kinda threat, it was just a statement of fact more than anything. If I cannot preview items like wearables and other cosmetic features then chances are I'm not gonna buy them. Since I'm fairly well stocked in other items I just won't need to buy much of anything from the IS. If I do run low or outta something, and I can actually find it on this new interface and it allows me to make the purchase, then I'm gonna get it.
((shrugs))

"We understand that there are things that bother you, but please keep in mind that it always takes some time to get used to changed things. Try to at least give the new shop a chance."

Sure you took a suggesting from may 2015 House energy and locked it
Same issue gets reopened in october 2015, takes about a month to get noticed House Energy and then 3 more months to be forwarded.
-edit- looks like it goes even further back House energy orbs for sale soon?

This is 8 months to address a rather simple request and you want us to not abandon ship because you are open to feedback on the new itemshop

"Apparently there are a lot of things you don’t like about the new Wheel of Destiny. We gathered all your comments which contained constructive feedback and we are currently thinking about ways to revise the wheel accordingly."

Who was surprised that the brilliant idea of adding literal trash to a gambling wheel was not going to go well. And levelling timers that expire (do they even extend while you are still spending?)
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

There was no problem with the old item shop and how it worked. The only complaints were about the items that the shop lacked and the costs. So what was done they changed the shop and how it worked and didn't address what the shop lacked and the costs. This is what makes people mad. WHY???

As long as you pay for a poor product there is no motivation to fix it.

ROM was enjoyable but again they missed the boat by introducing horrible ideas while leaving long standing bugs unresolved.
Rom closes we all move to something different. The edge ROM once had over other games is gone

I shortened the original comment
Yeah, I put real money into this game.
