Transparency

On March 11, 2016, the CM posted an article in the news section that ended with the following statement:

“Conclusion: In 2016 we won't only be concentrating on the game, but on you the players. We want to work together with you more closely, communicate more openly, and make our inner workings more transparent.”

Is there an ETA on when this is going to start?

Hi there,

I can only speculate on the fact that there really isn't anything that we can be transparent on so much at the moment. Most of the changes lately to the game as a whole have been via the item shop, internal backend stuff which has been shared as much as possible, or upcoming content and bugfixes, which since late last year has been shared a day or two before the patch is implemented which is a huge improvement.

Our Community Manager has also been willing to share some things about upcoming festivals, albeit in not an "official Announcement", but rather here: Crafting Festival/event Summer 2016

Communication and transparency are somethings that happens before an issue is decided. Yes there has been far better updates which actually take place before something happens. That is a great improvement. But it has nothing to do with transparency.
Issues such as the new item shop (which no players had complained about except for what wasn't and still isn't in it) replacing an old item shop without problems that was working very well. Can only make us scratch out heads as to why it happened.
Transparency would have been; why so much time and effort was and still is being put into this and not other problems that players have been complaining about for years.
When people use the word transparency they are talking about the decisions before they are final' who made them and why they were being made. Not updates that merely tell people what is happening in the future.
Transparency and communication are about the process as to why something is being done and not something else not after the fact a statement what is being done.

Hello all!

I hope we will not discuss lexical meaning of transparency for pages in here :)

Transparency to me is, sharing more about plans, processes and actions, being always honest when replying users and working more closely with you which helps increase trust in our community which our projects future depend.

However, transparency "itself" is a thing which variables by situation/person and obviously it has limits... The idea behind the RoMmunity letters was "being transparent" and it includes some or current plans and workings which are not only internal information anymore. And we will of course share when there is an update on mentioned topics.

Lastly, if you are expecting us to share our daily/weekly progresses on forum i am sorry, there is no company/organization which runs by real holders shares all the progresses behind the works unless there is no real update. And I can assure you that we will share whenever we will have an update on things as we always do.

Well i guess Gameforge cannot have any kinda discussions and started to remove peoples responses again, great job there. Guess we better shut up because when you make a post they cannot argue the logic behind it, let's delete it. Wonder why people are leaving still? Don't waste your time asking for stuff anymore people, they simply don't care at all.

a yearly calendar with schedules for events and item shop sales would be great, instead of just doing events as gm or people wishes or just improvising them.

@Polog, what zrorak ( RK ) is suggesting would be really nice. :)

Would it be possible to create a Google ( or other brand ) calendar that is world viewable with proposed events & sales? This would definitely help people to see ( and plan for ) things to come.

having a defined color scheme would be helpful too.. like GREEN for set-in-stone & ready to deploy and RED for proposed & likely to change. Then you could have YELLOW for tentatively planned.

As things move throughout the calendar, you'll see fewer people asking about what is or isn't coming & start asking about specifics. ie, There's a proposed sale for product X but then it's removed from the calendar. You could write a note that that sale was pulled for Y reason and the world moves on.

I'm sure that would alleviate most people's concern over transparency.

I really think you expect too much if you want a calendar with sales and whatnot. Gameforge do not in any way owe us this.
I don't know of any MMO that has a calendar showing what sales will be coming.

However much a calendar of Festivals would be nice, again, I don't see why Gameforge owe us this.

But, we can easily predict upcoming Festivals due to the fact that we get the same rolling set of Festivals every year. We can look back through past years Patch Notes to see approximate dates when each Festivals will come and when approximate start dates start to slip past, we can expect that the Festivals is being skipped.

I'll just add here that we get frustrated with Gameforge over Festivals being skipped but it's really the fault of Runewaker - they are the ones that control the Festivals and remove and add them in. Way back in Frogster days, they were usually very regualr with their Festivals and they'd change after 4 or 5 weeks. Runewaker are the ones that are being 'sloppy' and not keeping their game up to date.

The festivals don't change at all from year to year. As proven by the fact that the exact same bugs pop up every year. So I don't see why its so hard to have them on a schedule and stick to it. Besides that GF/RW is just terrible, but that goes without saying.
