scout statting: basic question about dex and str vs patt

I have never played a scout before, but now I'm gearing up a bit and getting confused a lot. :P Threads like this Scout New Scout Guide (Work in progress) are a good start, but don't answer the following.

--------------------------

First, most important: patt calculation (real character screen, no charplan)

Update for this part: PEBCAK, see SHAYdynasty answer below. :lol:

I have an item with in tooltip stats the total of 566.4 str, 763,2 dex and 2972,4 patt.
When I take it off, with no buffs at all:
* str decreases by 604 (fine, 6.5% from /w)
* dex decreases by 819 (fine, 7.3% from s/)
* but: patt on character screen decreased by 9209

* 2972,4 comes from the direct "patt" stat that I took off, right?
* if calculating 1str = 1patt and 1dex = 1patt, 819 + 604 comes from str and dex that I took off
* but this explains only 4395.4 patt decrease; where did the remaining 4813.6 go??? (to explain 9209 decrease)

How does this work? How to predict how stats from tooltip will influence patt?

--------------------------
Second: melee patt vs ranged patt (probably a charplan bug):

Wiki pages like wiki:Attributes or wiki:Scout say that both dex and str give 1 patt to a scout.

BUT: there are two different groups of stats: melee patt/dmg/crit/accu and ranged patt/dmg/crit/accu. Now what I see in these section on IN CHARPLAN is that stats with dex and str do NOT increase ranged patt.

Madness VII with 204 patt in tooltip increases in charplan both melee and ranged patt by 209. Fine (sort of - I would like one day to understand where +5 diff came from :P)
But Massacre VII with 150 dex and 374.4 patt gives 543 melee patt, but only 382 ranged patt.
And Assassin VII with 123,6 dex and str gives 264 melee patt but ... no ranged patt at all!

This is wrong, right? The total on character screen shows the same patt for melee and ranged, so I think it is just a charplan bug, right? Dex and str increase both melee patt and ranged patt, and in fact there is only one patt (and if you use charplan, look only at the "melee patt", this is the correct one, ignore "ranged patt").

--------------------------
PS: where did the class sections in .us forum go? They are present (and quite helpful imho) in .eu, .pl and other rom fora, only .us has all classes piled-up in one big heap of threads...

1. Is the piece part of a set? What about runes?

2. Yes most likely a bug because range vs melee, there is no difference, just class combos. would be a different case if you were talking about dmg, but PA, yeah a bug
Osha Erebos - Evilempires
Shaynoff R/S/M (98/98/85)
Rakalaka M/P/L (98/98/98)
Ffonyahs Wd/W/S (98/98/98)

Yep, indeed - the set bonus. :D

Silly me - I was so focused on stats and runes, I forgot about the lower part of the tooltip. :P

Thanks.

offtopic: is there a "depreciated" tag that we can put on older threads?

i only wonder because if a new player looks through the scout threads because they are interested in scout, they would probably get quite discouraged as the vast majority imply that scout is not worth playing (low dps, no run invites, etc), while, with the new updates, the reality is quite the contrary. I'd consider adding a post to each of the threads, but i wonder if that is worth it?
my r/p can outdps r/m. your name is stupid.

mages should stack dex. word.

I'd consider adding a post to each of the threads
It will be way too late in the thread - someone reading from the top won't notice...

Basically the title of the thread has to be updated. Tricky if you are not the owner of the first post or the thread is closed/archived.

Maybe we could align with moderators that e.g. we could "report" the first post with some standard text ("please mark as depreciated"), and they would update the title by adding [depreciated] in front? This would be very little effort for us, probably would work also for old/archived threads, and assuming moderators do review reports anyway - should be quite straightforward for them as well.

Would this work? (I guess the question is mostly to forum moderators)
Any better idea?
