Purchasing Diamonds with US Dollars

Purchasing Diamonds with US Dollars

As a result of recent major changes in the US dollar exchange
rate, we've found ourselves required to adjust the Diamond price. This
affects all players on US servers living in the following countries
whose domestic currency is NOT the US dollar:

Austria

Belarus

Belgium

Bosnia-Herzegovina

Bulgaria

Croatia

Cyprus

Czech Republic

Denmark

Estonia

Finland

France

Germany

Greece

Hungary

Ireland

Italy

Kazakhstan

Latvia

Lithuania

Luxembourg

Macedonia

Montenegro

Netherlands

Norway

Poland

Portugal

Romania

Serbia

Slovakia

Slovenia

Spain

Sweden

Switzerland

Turkey

United Kingdom

This does not affect players on US servers living in the USA or Canada, for example, or any players on EU servers.

This change will be effective from 25/8/2016.

Well as usual not even able to post what changes? really? ( Awaiting the big surprise of tomorrow for Canadian customers)

BTW Canada DOESN'T USE THE US DOLLAR AS A CURRENCY!!!! We pay 42% more when purchasing stuff that needs US DOLLARS!!!!

I hope you don't lower the amount of diamonds that we get for our money, because you can say bye bye to all your Canadian customers

So they will make it better for people living abroad for diamond prices but for us in Canada having to pay 42% more to get diamonds, it's fine?? What should we do then for the Canadians that get no love from Gameforge?

The announcement is pretty clear as is, especially with the above thrown in.

It also says:

"This affects all players on US servers living in the following countries
whose domestic currency is NOT the US dollar:"

It doesn't say

"This affects all players on US servers living in all countries whose domestic currency is not the US dollar"

It even gives you a handy list where Canada isn't listed.

However, I think there are some minor changes to Canadians buying diamonds for the US servers, but not nearly as large as the changes to people in the EU and UK buying diamonds on US servers.

Canadian difference is +/- maybe 10 diamonds on packages, hence not really important to include.

EU/UK difference is mostly less many hundreds of diamonds on packages.

About Canada:

The payment methods apart from "paysafecard/rixty" and the telephone/sms options are being paid in USD though, even today.

Paysafecard will still be in CAD as before but with the according exchange rate to USD from what I saw (which it currently is clearly not).

but for example credit card, every tariff for purchasing diamonds from Canada, is already being paid in USD anyway.

the tarrifs have minor changes (and when I say minor I mean minor) though, probably exchange-rate related after years of being stagnant. The 100USD via CC tariff gets slightly more diamonds in the bottom line. (Also same level of minor).

To stay in the creditcard example: the biggest tariff gets +35 diamonds (99,99USD) , the lowest -7 (4,99 USD).

This is for Canada, other countries will probably differ.

To defend zid (for once) I think he is trying to say the exchange rate not affecting canada is the problem because the current exchange is terrible for canadians?

So hes asking why canada ISNT part of the modified exchange rate
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Trust us, Canada doesn't want to be part of this change in exchange rate (at least from a percentage base). So far the EU countries have enjoyed moderate prices in buying diamonds from US servers. They will big time lose out with the change (this change isn't good for people in EU countries buying diamonds from US servers) but unfortunately necessary (I believe because of the "Brexit" vote but I could be wrong there, only speculating).

https://www.google.de/search?q=CAD+USD
https://www.google.de/search?q=CAD+EUR
https://www.google.de/search?q=EUR+USD

Im not exactly sure if "NOT being affected by modified exchange rate" a.k.a adjusted to values from 2016 instead of the old 2011/2012 is really something you want to complain about? ;)

EU example from myself still today:

US on US server: 3k diamonds = 100 USD
EUR (DE, like myself) on US server = 100 EUR = 4500 diamonds.
EUR on EU server = 100 EUR = 3000 diamonds (all the time).

but, 1 EUR is not 1,5 USD and hasn't been for 4+ years if ever, so go figure. The current exchange rate as of google today is 1,12:1 and for EUR payments to the US servers this will more or less see a reflection of the real-world exchange rates of 2016 in the amount of diamonds for the same price points as before.

I guess you could say as a generalization about the change:
*tariffs* that are being paid for in USD get minor changes, *tarrifs* that are being paid for in foreign currency which are used from the respective countries get reflected to exchange rates that are not outdates by years.
Which doesn't affect Canada too much between today and tomorrow because all but pretty much one payment method used USD the whole time anyway.

Otherwise, a logic of "the exchange rate gets worse for me so your products should become much cheaper for me" is beyond me, that's not the way the world works ...

Well it is just making a post a day previous of the changes but not even be able to make a clear quote as to how much etc but leaving doubts of what is to come.

Aqua please don't blame England for this loll The population is at what on Mithras, except siege time at 10PM EST?? maybe 120 players if we're lucky ?? and i don't mean account logged cause i would count has 20% of players online loll. Sadly it just makes me sad that none of our suggestions for the last 4 years have barely missed the trash bin. Permanent backpacks, 30% speed mount potions, extra house bank slots and other items that should be in the item shop permanently at a regular price, not like the +20 jewels.

But HEY!! IS manager has a degree in gaming economy!!! guess Trump is working for you now hahahaha i am kidding a bit. Do we still have a real item shop manager? thx

All they're doing is making it more fair reading comprehension people. People in the EU buying diamonds on US servers SHOULDN'T be getting more diamonds for their dollars than people living in the US. That's common sense. The problem with Canadians paying more than US for diamonds is a separate issue that possibly should be addressed but doesn't concern THIS announcement.

The prices are way too damn high. Period.. So many people in the good old USA make less than 30k a year. And to be competitive in this game you need to spend thousands of dollars (unless you can play 20 hours a day and have 100 alts........
100 people spending $10 is more profit than 5 spending $100.
