they could have just removed the EU person arguing with the US person and give them both forum vacation time and be done with it, it was a good thread that had some ideas and good content.

Honestly they are abusing their power that thread in no way deserved to be closed they just felt like it.
They even closed my thread saying to give it another shot and turned its name into QQ thread when it was open mage thread again lmao.
They honestly dont care at this point they just trying to milk people out of all their money till they cant no more they never take our good ideas and when they do they twist it.
The best thing theyve done in eons is bring scout back thats it i honestly dont know why i bother sometimes smh while they close this thread in probably the next 10 mins

It has always been this way, it's just more obvious recently because there's so few threads. Threads get closed for even a hint of confrontation.

Moderation is not what drives players away from the forums (or the game generally). Toxicity, cynicism, trolling, inability to have a reasonable and reasoned discussion without it devolving into a flurry of ad hominem attacks... THOSE things are what drive people away. Most players don't care to venture into the forums, which are often referred to as a cesspit, since they have no doubt that reading or posting here will be headache-inducing. Frankly, the forums never fail to deliver on that point. You may thank your fellow forum-regulars for promoting such a caustic environment.

The result is that suggestion threads like 'give players what they -really- want!!' become very myopic, and instead read like 'give ME what -I- really want'. While we do forward them, with so few participants it really can't represent the population well. Looking at you here, Zid. Stop yelling that nothing gets fixed. It's just flat not even true.

When you look at a closed thread and think "hey!! I don't see any objectionable posts there at all!" maybe there's a reason. Darn those forums mods cleaning things up like they're supposed to. Consider that you might not be seeing the whole sorry mess.

The mage thread we let go for a long time since, as players have pointed out, it was a rare thread of -actual- discussion with some good ideas thrown in. As Aqua said: "what a shame". At some point we have to act, and that time arrived. Don't like your threads being closed or your posts removed? Follow the dang rules. It's not hard. People do it all the time. Looking at you here, Wurdking/Cenre. Shape up, or ship out.

Word people have different ideals so we wont always agree doesnt mean close thread

rules were broken, it had every right to be locked, simple.

what rules were broken @ Cen & @kali people arent perfect people dont always agree and their will always be some kind of confrontation doesnt mean hey lets close this that doesnt solve the problem it just causes more problems.

I think it's entirely possible that the members of this community can have an active, passionate conversation about things that matter to them in the game without it degenerating into name calling and shenanigans. Sure, we have trolls. They are ever present. However, we can all do our part to subdue them instead of riling them up. There are ways to do it and ways to not do it... The choice is yours

I received a PM asking me to look into what happened as an 'outsider' in my capacity as the EN Game Admin instead of a US-SGM.

I see nothing that gives me any concerns over what happened. The thread degenerated into squabbling and name-calling and has been locked, as I have now done here. I agree with the thread closure.

Now, if Aqualink intends to have it cleaned up and re-opened, or remain closed, is his decision and not mine or anyone else. If you disagree with any forum moderation decision, you should be going outside for a walk to calm down, perhaps eating some sherbet or ice cream and collecting your thoughts so you can contact us calmly and rationally instead of being heated and temperamental. That forum PM you then send us should be concise and explain your thoughts clearly. We can then discuss and act.

Opening more threads to whine about the moderation is not allowed, and if actions such as this continue, we do have an infraction system where Rule Breakers have to experience the consequences of their actions.
