Piggybacking onto Heron's post let me finalize it with the following:
Believe it or not the GM's play the game, we really do. As a matter of fact, I've done the very "glitch" unintentionally that you describe and it was brought up in our Sooper Sekrit GM chat.
The GM's have multiple tools and interfaces to determine rule breaking offenses. They are almost always cut and dry what is definitely an offense and what is not. Any doubts with the data presented in front of us and we confer with our team to ensure that everyone is on the same page with the interpretation of the data. We do not swing the hammer wildly at anything which is in doubt of a cheat, and very few, if any, innocent people would get swept up by a ban for abusing exploits.
If you're truly innocent, the ticket system is a couple of clicks away where a case can be appealed. The case you present is -always- taken into consideration and your case, if pleaded, is always re-examined and if determined to be a true case of innocence, your ban would be reversed with no future penalty.
We're not out to hunt down every single case of possible and undeniable exploiting of the game, however we still need to ensure that the game environment and the economy is fair for all.
