Tough decision

So, I've just created my first knight...so I almost know nothing about this class other than tanking. I wanted a really fun playstyle this time around, so I was wondering whether I should go K/M, K/R, or K/S. I'm not crazy about damage but I do like a little dps (which is why K/P is basically out of the picture for me). Any thoughts would be gladly appreciated.

Knights don't DPS they just can't. They don't have the Skill % to main hand weapons to pull it off. They have no weapon mastery to multiply damage. K/r and K/s are pretty good in DPS for knights I'm not sure what K/w can do to be honest.

Knight/Warrior will deal way more damage with a 2-hand axe because of its 38% 2H Axe Mastery

K/w to solo stuff with a 2H axe.Easily the highest knight dps.
K/s to hold aggro from anyone with little to no effort. 2nd hatred, additional stat stick
K/r to be all around decent and look silly dualwielding. Nice Critrate.
K/p to complain about aggro and dps. Some nice and interesting elites but no bonus to dps.
K/m to play something unconventional and challenging. A bit whacky to play, look at the guideshere if interested.

currently end game instance wise i'd say k/s is best. easy aggro generation , and cc ability in gc/sc , survival aint bad either :)

make sure you read the guide (Comprehensive Tanking Tips), in the knight section.

I know that knights aren't made for dps, and I'm not looking for a pure dps knight. I'm just wondering which one can at least give me a little bit dps and has a fun playstyle

One thing to take into consideration is you have the 3rd class option, so you can actually choose 2 secondary classes to flip between if one isn't working for you.:) So pick the 2 you think will be the most fun and see what works for you.

Also take into consideration what the flip sides will do for you. if you go k/r/s you can play r/s or s/r. if you go k/w/r the other combos are rather good too.

Sorry if my post came off as negitive I was not happy with the last patch and I guess it leaked through. I was just trying to let you know that knights have dps issues when compaired to other classes. I didn't want you to start playing only to find out knights are weak in that area. Just keep in mind that knight isn't a fast leveling class and is expensive to gear up for tanking....so you will need patience.

Knights can DPS, just not on par with an equally geared DPS class, but you have to stat for it. The best DPS knight I have seen personally was Livingdole, K/R. He stated mostly stamina / physical attack with some dexterity and magical defense mixed in, and was a PVP beast (people seem to be embarrassed when they get one-shot by a knight;)) And as a K/R single target tanking was never a problem. Point being that if you want to DPS, you have to stat for DPS like any other DPS class would.

So, I've narrowed it down to K/S and K/R. They both really fun and I think I might go K/S/R. But I'm still thinking which one to take first. Which one is overall stronger? Like both tank and dps-wise. Also, If you go K/S you wouldn't use a bow right? Same thing for K/P, you wouldn't dual wield correct?

As a K/s you do get to equip a bow and stat that weapon/add runes. It's not a weilding 2 weapons. K/Rogue will allow you to use 2 swords but you loose the shield where K/s it just auto changes out your sword for the bow and you keep the shield.

ah so a K/S is basically like a ranged tank, and a K/R would still go with sword/shield?

All tanks are melee. Bow is only for extra stats and extra runes. Especially the lovely Hatred rune.
Firetruck W/Wdn/S 72/72/72- Retired as well now...
Bangsalot K/S/R 70/70/68 - Retired
Heretic- Reni

the bow is equipped in the ranged slot an is activated when you click a Scout ranged skill. So you click shot the bow appears and you shoot it then you can click holy strike and the sword is back and you carry on.:)

You dont have a large array of ranged attacks as k/s so its not like you will be spamming ranged attacks.:p

K/S also gets a two extra taunts that knights normally don't get. Both are ranged, one is an AoE.

hay figured id say somthin :P yea i think it depends on what you like to play as far as k/s and k/r i havent played them but i do have knight primary and have scout and rouge classes.

i like the feal of a scout in all honestyl for 2 resones 1 range. on my wd/s i can kill mobs up to 5 lvls higher then me befor they get to me XD and this is without my pets help :P and 2 that dps is gona be based off ranged wepon wiche is an extra stat slot XD and no giving up shield yay :D .

add that dmg you did to mob befor it gets to you for those you dont kill so easy and you get less dmg taken per mob so more efficient solo :P. speed increas that scouts get is a general so in essence they to get a mastery like k/w :D.

all that added to the defence of a knight and as far as dps soloing aggro gen and surviving with out healer id say its a pretty good class not taking elits into consideration. so thasmy opinion of k/s XD anyone feal fre to coment.

i havent played my rouge since befor ch2 so need someone elses input on that o.o

before the nerf k/r was a rock solid mix of aggro and defense. Now i would recommend k/s over any other class combination, just due to extra taunts and hatred rune.

considering the added hatred rune and elite skills k/s is the new ch3 k/r with its then bugged leopard instinct (which still works quite well i find, combined with the HS +pdef and shield of valor elite its basically still a full immune for 10 sec)

I'd say k/w is the best solo knight, k/s the best for holding aggro at endgame, k/p for holding aggro with lazy dps, k/r for survivability (leopard instict, see above) and far off k/m for being quite fun to play :P
