Gear at level 55 - what to get for Mage

OK, I'm closing to level 55 and I am wondering what should I get for my mage, and how to stat it.

My plan is to add as much Int and MAtt as I can (which will not be much atm), but what I wonder is should I look for specific sets and what is double atm?!

What MDamage, Mattk and critical should I have for my level??

Any other things that I did not think about yet?

At level 55 your option(s) are limited but effective - Elemental Flame 3 piece (not the upper body) - at 57 you can get Maxim Robe, 58 pants, belt, gloves, etc. from WA.

int/ma x2.
int/stam x4 (or some other variant like int/hp, stam/matk, matk/hp - in that order).

Well gear wise.. i'd advice going with the Elemental Flame Set. There's a headpiece, shoulder armor, robe and shoes in the set.

I haven't really seen any pants, belts or gloves for lvl 55 yet. At 57 the Sewage Belt isn't bad. And I think some nice pants and gloves are also in the offing at that lvl. So, go with the Elemental at 55 and wait a couple lvls to invest in the rest.

2-h staff.. well I have a t8 Void.. but that's nowhere near the best choice for a Mage. It was however, the best i could get/afford. Not absolutely sure about this, but I think there's something called a 'Collector's Staff' for lvl 55 which is supposedly really good for a Mage. Haven't seen it yet myself, but that is what i was told.

Stats.. yes.. Intelligence and Matk.. and Stamina. Those are all u really need, from what I hear. So, Int/Sta, Int/Matk and keep repeating that combination. Throw in a few /HP if you really want to. But the end game stats are insanely priced these days.

cheers! :-)

Zerlin - Mage/Druid - Govinda

p.s. I hadn't seen Vesuv1us's response when i wrote this.. but it sure sounds like good advice.

@Vesuv1us: So the elemental set bonus does not outweigh the Maxim robe? Now I really want to take a peek at the Maxim one.. have only ever seen the Maxim gloves!

if memory servers, the elemental set bonus can be obtained by only using 3 out of the 4 pieces. so u can hold off on the robe statting and hold out for the maxims robe and get the magic damage points bonus off the green stats on the robe.

if ur slow to level up tho you may want to just go ahead and get the flame robe and just dirty stat it or something, cuz the flame robe gives a very good amount of pdef bonus for the level.

not the best staff for lvl 55..but pretty close damage points wise.

Drops off lady hansis (2nd boss of ZS)

best lvl 55 staff

this staff is called the Demon Heart Long Staff, and does in fact drop off the 2nd boss in HoDL (along with the elemental shoulders as well)

Demon Heart Long Staff

-----------------------------------------all that being said-----------------------------------------

there IS another lvl 50 staff that is better than any above listed staff..

Rescuer's Anger

i couldnt tell you where you get it from (possibly a quest reward) but that one tops all staves up to lvl 57

EF set bonus only requires 3, like someone else pointed out. And since the EF robe inherent stat of mdmg bonus points doesn't actually work as it should, it's best to avoid for a robe that gives real mdmg or mcrit. (Hackman's drop is the mcrit robe, maxim's is the mdmg).

Best staff at that level is the Demon Heart Long Staff - but stuff doesn't really get good until 60 (Raksha) and 65 (Puppet Queen).

If you are already mcrit heavy and matk low, the Collector's works well because you get a large matk bonus, but I would almost never trade that for mcrit.

Aside from EF 3-piece, Vahtos 5-piece, and a staff, you could seriously just use level 55 white gear until 60 and beyond when you get the double set bonus', etc. Would save a lot of gold/dia.

The problem is that Elemental Flame, as good as it is, requires ZS/DL runs. You can't run ZS/DL in junk. You need either at least moderately statted HOS gear or a guild that can drag a lower geared toon through.

ZS/DL is not like HOS. HOS pugs are common because it is easier instance. ZS/DL requires some planning and an OP guild. Not only should it be OP, but also not full of people with "GCH or nothing" attitude. GL with that.

Sure, you are not meant to do clops->hoto->hos->DOD->ZS/DL gearing chain anymore, but you are meant to do something intermediate. I'd say HOS makes a fine jump in point to ZS/DL as long as you realize that it is throwaway gear and not spend a lot statting it.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

ill take it a step further.

with crimson stats so easily obtainable, its not illogical to say that you could easily run zs/hodl in dirty crimson statted garbage gear to get your hands on the gear you need from zs/hodl.

Thank you all for suggestions/recommendations.

To make sure I understand - best would be dirty-stated HOS gear until ready to gather better (worth keeping longer) gear.

Leveling at this point will take very long time, so I have time to get there... :D

Yes. I got by with HoS gear, but like they said, don't spend too much time/money on it, because you will die in DL. :P

 Thank sounds so reassuring...

:D Library, here I come...

As at the moment (thanks to friend's help from this topic) I have all yellow stated gear, what would be first suggestion to do/get?? I am sure well underpowered for HOS, and I do have plan to visit Kalin's Shrine this weekend...

In other words, apart from this 'deam gear', what is really obtainable?? My guild is still forming, so atm I don't have raid/group party.

Sorry, but it's true. :D I had a friend who went through in a run of 65s. He was a rogue with 20k health unbuffed and he died at least three times.

I went through HoS with just under 10k buffed, which is totally possible if you know the drill (stay near the middle of the group for the Rune Warrior) and away from the rest of the mobs else. I just had quest gear, the KS set and a decent-statted staff/cape (I think it was a cape. Anyway...).

Hodl on unlucky day...you'll die at least once on each hall way...assuming your group can can finish it in one shot. Boss fight in there is actually very easy, just the road getting there is dam hard.

I don't have a problem paying debt, as long as it for something useful. ;)

I once took an L54 toon with 6k HP to HOS. Not even sure why she wanted HOS at 54, but hey... Needless to say, the priest of the run got lots of chances to use resurrect spell. :p

Having a less geared group might be a bit of an advantage on first few runs. My current guild HOS runs are such that I can barely make it to the next boss fight before the door closes. They are so fast that they would not give a chance to new player to see what the instance is all about. A little slower run, which is still geared enough to survive might be a way to go.

Hmm, if I remember correctly and feel free to correct me (I quit just around when RT released), so I'm not fully up to date on things. But at your level, I used the Medusa set--All but the helm and pants. For those, I used Holy Tree Leggings and the crown from Origins (Jade Valley). Origins isn't the most popular place when I played and still doesn't seem so today.
I then upgraded to the blood set, then to flame set. However, the Holy Tree Leggings I've kept with me throughout all three sets--just had to clean them all three times.

My old guild used to do Origins pretty frequently, so I was lucky enough to grab a pair at the time.

So there's my two cents. I just returned over the weekend and doesn't seem like many run HOTO anymore. You're guild should be able to help you acquire the blood set. Then you should be geared enough to run DL/ZS and upgrade to the flame.

happy farming
Yes, I'm a mage who's also a warrior...don't judge me :D

its really a shame too...

Origin is a huge, beautiful instance. i recently had an excuse to go back thru there and solo it to collect the title for the last boss in there.

everyone should go in there at least once :)

Origin is a nice looking instance all right. Unfortunately, it is way too big, confusing to navigate, and has only a few bosses. And the second boss is the majorly annoying Razor Lurker, reducing the appeal to run the instance.

Now, there is a really good reason to be in Origin... it is the easiest solo mem farm. You don't have to engage a single mob to make it to first boss Life Leacher, and it is not a really long run. At 3 mentos, he is way way easier compared to 4 at Man Man in DOD.

Still, as gear goes, at this point Origin gear is hanging together with Clops gear an HOTO gear in the "old adventurers" museum.
