You can't. The GCD screws up the best things mages had going for them, their 0.4-0.6 second flame spams.

I can't play my class anymore.

I suppose M/P has a minor advantage over any other mage combo now as Outburst is now the best source of extra damage that isn't entirely affected by the GCD.

You can't even fix things with a new rotation of skills, everything will be equally slow (at least 1 second) and comparatively ineffective against any other dps class.

Curse runes, guitars, speed pots... its all useless once you get below 1 second cast speed thanks to the new GCD.

This patch is the death of effective mage dps.

It's not just mages... Priests and Druids are hit pretty hard with this too. I'm so pissed. As if it wasnt already hard enough to keep people alive... how it takes 4 seconds to cast a groupheal and 2 seconds for an urgent heal. There's a REASON I never used Heal. Now you've made Urgent Heal... Same time as Heal used to be.

Casters in general have been whipped up one side and down the other. Pretty much will return to the pure burn phases of chapter 3, only it'll be all the physical attacking classes with their new, shiny lvl 70 weapons.

Has anyone gone in game and confirmed that even skills with cast time trigger gcd?

I just want to be sure before I uninstall and give up on this game entirely.


Although even if it is true, I don't see it sticking for very long. Why? Because nerfs like this that effect gameplay so dramatically don't stay around for long(usually). Like the poorly implemented % mana based adjustment last year.

Yes. Took down first boss in grafu easy using elemental catalyst and ancient spirit water. There is a very noticeable and irritating 1 second delay between every 0.6 second flame cast.

So, essentially, this means that, not only are actual casts times effectively increased, but the "burn" phase is shortened. If I want to fully buff up, I'm looking at casting 5 short duration buffs after my 4 long buffs (not to mention food and pots but whatever).

So you have the .5 or so it takes to cast and the 1 GCD. Now you are looking at 7.5 second before your first spell. A few of these only last 20 seconds.

The new timer means that you are basically going to loose a chunk of your buffs by the time you can cast them. Granted you have to order them properly, but still...

I know this has been brought up before but I think there are real teeth to the argument now. In general, I don't see the reason to flatten everyone. It's "balancing for the lazy" IMHO. I'm sure there will be a reason given that they are trying to cut down cheating or botting but it will, again, miss the point... I care less about gold spammers than I do about having an enjoyable game. To me, this makes it less enjoyable. The constant unannounced shifting of basic game play mechanics is not fun. I don't want to drag out why it isn't fun (again) but it is not. I feel like I'm playing a long game of "Who Moved My Cheese?"

Just hoping they fix it....

Im just hoping that they fix this. Its not as though a mage can mix in a new rotation with the GCD going. Also its not as though we really were given much of an option as far as spaming flame. This to me comes down to either Frogster making runewaker fix mages damage issue, or just removing the very interesting "end of cast GCD". Im sure every mage is just as fond of it as i am.....not so much right? Any way im just giving it till Tuesday. I have spent waaaaaay to much and put up with waaaaaay to much only to be changed back to be less useful than i was in chapter 3. These things should be tested out first then put into game. I honestly do not believe that was the case with this patch.

I could solo GC easy 1-3 yesterday. today i died on 2nd boss(with a second mage dps), while buffed. Im going to quit this game if they dont fix it.. I am seriously fed up.

yea i r sad...i use wa boss 1 as a testing ground to see stuffs. i went when i hit lev 70 outta curiousity. yesterday i guess i averaged like 800k dps since we like a lot of levels higher than manticosnub ...not that it matters, since i died today. was at 131k mattack, 10,1k mdmg and 80.1% crit, 3 levels higher and i got face raped. QQ

im all for challenging content...but not when it's stuff from like a cpl chapters ago we used to do with 25k hp. :( and im out of beer ><

anyone up for hos mentos farm..no way im even starting the COI for nightly "get my damn cape from annelia" farm. the thought of my "epic" 4 flame burn phase and little bears gonna give me nightmares.

Im just hoping they are reading this

I really hope that they are paying attention to these threads. I really love my mage and i have be around for a little while now ( chapter2). But after dealing with chapter 3 im not going through that again. This was just crapply done. There was no way that serious testing was done on this. No one "NO ONE" in their rightful mind would place a damn GCD at the end of a 3 second cast damage dealing spell.......And if they did test it I sure as hell would not openly admit it if i were them.

I expect this'll go just about the same as when they did the % max mana cost addition to casters when they did that. They implement a particularly cruel gameplay adjustment, the community pretty much unanimously goes against it, several quit, and eventually they repeal it. I'm hoping that's the case anyway. The only toon I've got that's really worth anything is a dual-caster. I'd hate to have to reroll a physical toon just to move past this. Especially when all my prior attempts except one have failed miserably, and that one didn't go over too well either.

Cross your fingers, maybe it might help this time. It did last time, right?

Entropy thank you :-). I hope that you are right and that they will change this. A simular thing did happen in the past. Hopefully they do something soon about it. The last thing that i want to do is quit playing. I do not like phy att classes ( lol not as in not like personally. I dont like to play them lol) So im just hoping they fix it....

Oh entropy. If only. Look on the Euro forums and you'll see rogues sticking up for mages. Look here and you'll see happy rogues telling us to "lrn2play". I don't think the US community is behind us. I don't care. I'm too tired and too disgusted to care.

All that gives me hope is that Froggy doesn't give 2 craps what the US thinks. All they care about is the Euro market and specifically the German set of the Euro market. Here's hoping the German mages (and I pray god there are LOTS of them) are kicking up a hell of a fuss.

The GCD Nerf Can't be overcome by mixing up skill rotation, restatting, or bettering your Gear . . . I've played a Mage for the last 2 years. Living through the uselessness of chapter 3 was TOUGH.

Until a decent Fix happens to the GCD nerf Happens, i'll bide my time and let my wallet (or lack of use thereof) be my response to yet another Fun sucking nerf of the Game. You Have a Great Game, stop making concerted efforts in gimping the Casting classes!

Until then, no more Diamond monies for YOU Froggy.
