Wd/S Viable?

Hello Everyone,

I'm currently a mage but I'm thinkin it's time to change things up. My very first toon in RoM was a Warden and I really enjoyed it. That was back in chapter 2. Now that they've been buffed, I'm really interested to give it a go again.

I know Wd/W seems to be the better option but I wanted to try something different. I'm wondering if Wd/S would be a good choice? Their elite skills look really nice (20% dmg increase...yes please:cool:) and they get probably the best pet in the game. Just wondering how they do endgame in PvE and how they do in PvP.

Thanks Guys!:D

I know I tried Wd/S up to about.. 53 once, was really a lot of fun. That was while warden was still the joke of the game, but at the same time I had a lot of fun with it. The off-scout Swiftness does a huge number on the accuracy problem a lot of Wardens have due to a low Dex, and yes the 2H increase is amazing. On top of that having a pull or two, let alone the extra stat slot of the bow itself, makes Wd/S a viable endgame DPS according to at least one of the guys in Reni's top guild Ragnarok. So, while I can only give stipulation on it, there's some proof out there if you know what you're doing.

Hope it helps, have fun ^^

They do quite well. With my chiron I can out dps equally or slightly better geared scouts and warriors, and that's without summoning it fully buffed. The gcd change had almost no effect on the class. Chiron is also very powerful in siege, able to one shot 100k guys when I'm at 50k

I play Warden/Scout and it's a great class once you learn the dps hitters. Far as sharing that information I will refrain because of the history of what happens to classes that could hurt the Rogues. Yes I'm calling out the conspiracy in Runes of Magic to make sure that class remains on top. My thought is sense it's the closest thing at looks like a pirate it should be op in case want to try Runes of Magic sister game.

I've been one shotted by Chiron in siege. Wasn't even looking at the pet, focused on something else and BAM 80k, me dead.

wd/s is great imho. the LOS change severely hampered my ranged attacks, but I still have my melee. also the centuar seems to hit for 4x as much dam as you. I hope ppl dont start using that in siege as that seems to be when changes come around :(

As a wd/s i can play either a tanking role with centaur or ranged dps with oak tanking. the wd/s seems to be intended for you to tank and the centaur to dps, but i have trouble holding aggro as it hits for 4-6x as much with its ranged attacks, 3x with its fist. I am very jealous :P

What I have ended up doing is placing a hatred VII in my bow and 2h weapon when tanking over Chiron. You end up doing much more damage because Chiron hits harder then you would and you hit harder then Spirit of the Oak does. Just remember to take the hatreds out once you're in a party, because the main tank should be tanking, not you. In a party role use the Power of the Oak buff and have Chiron out. Make sure you summon Chiron with savage power, it makes a HUGE difference in its damage and more then makes up for the decrease in damage that occurs from you not being able to use the buff while you are attacking.

chiron aggro

From what I can tell any aggro enhancements at the time of summoning are transfered to the chiron, and I am guessing all pets. I notice a significant differenced in having vile pungentness only and summoning compared to tranquil wave only. I practice in ks as I am poorly geared. when the chiron's arrows, centuar arrow and valiant shot, hit, the boss turns towards the chiron. With the vile only at time of summon, the boss does not turn back to me, whereas the tranquil wave only at time of summon, I can get the boss to change target back to me.

(I am also posting to knock that guy pugging for end-game wd/w off the front page XD)

hmm, that's interesting. I've never heard of pets inheriting aggro modifiers. We should get some more people testing this out.

I've seen no sign of chiron inheriting aggro modifiers. I've been at -50% aggro when chiron was summoned and he takes aggro from the tank just as often as when I'm at +50%. Mind it's hard to tell exactly due to the fact that no threat meter I know of displays chirons' aggro.

When the chiron hits with the shots, the boss always changes target to the chiron. It is just the two secs(i am not sure if it gets my casting enhancements) between shots that it seems the aggro difference I have at time of summon shows and effect.

It is extremely difficult to tell as pointed out due to lack of aggro chart that includes pets.

but this point is more than likely moot if you have a tank in your party that is really worth a hill of beans.

I've been a wd/s since chapter 3. In chapter three the path from 50-55 was HELLbut now its all good. RoM Fianlly Fixed us. My opinions on chiron though. I feel like its a bug, but when i tell chiron to attack he just sits by me and does nothing. But when he does hit he hits hard. In PVP if you are not careful though, people will one hit your chiron. and for stating id go str/pa x4 and stam/pa x2 even though ur sacrificing def and hp for attack, its worth it

I get the issue of chiron being slow to start. I am spamming the macro /run UsePetAction(6) before it starts. This will turn out to be useful later as delay will help to build aggro over chiron's massive hits once reaching lvl 58+
