Charged Chop/Cleave

Does anyone know if the Warden skill Charged Chop/Cleave is going to be fixed? I realize that the devs probably have a lot on their plate right now, but this is one of the Wardens main skills....It it completely broken at the moment. If any of the GM's/CM's had a second to clarify this, I would greatly appreciate it.

The response given by that gm/cm in the linked thread is....retarded. That's putting it mildly! WTF? Ok without going into a ragewalloftext, whoever decided to break charged chop and call it intended is a moron. That's like taking your car to a repair shop only to find out they smashed the windshield with a hammer and said "that's the intended fix". They don't want us using only 2 skills, so they take one away? Why does this not make sense to me? If any real gm or cm could please shed some light on the issue I'd love it. I'll accept any reasonable answer. I just want to know what's going on with this.

Hmm I just tested this out with a Lvl 10 vendor weapon and no gear and used PoTWS at lvl 58 and Charged Chop at lvl 20. (Hehe was smacking pupa in ravenfell and found this post.) Charged Chop did double the damage of PoTWS. Maybe ninja fix? o.o

Interesting.... tested a bunch just now...PoTWS does 85K damage on lvl 1 mobs roughly 10 times in a row. Charged chop never hit for less than 125K...oh..nvm I realized that it's % is higher. Still we have no cast multiplier. It sucks and is broken. /closed

I dunno dude. Both PoTWS and Charged Chop for me are at 240% and on many tries on the Pupa I was smacking Charged Chop doubled PoTWS every time. PoTWS was hitting for around 76 and Charged Chop for around 156.

Seriously?

The whole problem was that apparently the cast time multiplier originally applied to the whole damage instead of just the base damage (that's the way Snipe works).

When they "fixed" that, they broke it the other way so that there was no multiplier at all. Now it sounds like they put it back to the original broken state instead of fixing it so that the base damage gets the multiplier and not the tool tip part. I'll see if I have a toon that can test to confirm what you're seeing. For now, this just sounds like a ton of facepalm to me.

I think what your saying is right. I leveled up Charged Chop a bit to match my Frantic Briar's %DPS and yup Frantic Briar did more damage than Charged Chop every time.

I was able to get the same percent DPS for both skills on one of my toons. I wasn't really able to confirm what you were seeing. I was getting a difference between the two skills, Charged Chop consistently hit for more than PotWS, but it was by a very small amount. For me, Charged Chop isn't hitting for anywhere near double what PotWS is.

Something may be going on there in the equation, but I don't think it's as simple as fixing it or returning it to the original state. It also makes me wonder, since our results were so different, if elites have any effect. Were you testing on a combo that has any elites for Charged Chop?

dont want us using only 2 skills. who does that? oh wait, yea. almost everyone. from the get go warden has never been a spam one button build. i use 1-9 and then some all day long. except for cc. its up in a top right corner for just in casies. but its really not needed, the elite skills from the two secondaries i use, mage and warr are more than enough to never ever even need cc. if i wana waste time casting i use frantic briar. it burns things to the ground. its op as hell and i figure, in a short period of time it will see the nerf hammer itself.

but cc is retired, just like oak walker was while it was broken. and now retired like my buffs in siege. isnt it great to be a warden? we haz petz!!!!

I tested PoTWS and Charged Chop as a W/Wdn. There aren't any elites that power up either. Prehaps its the difference in gear level then. I was naked and was using a Lvl 10 vendor weapon because I was leveling up my weapon skill in Ravenfell smacking the Pupa when I saw this thread.

I tested on a Wd/S with both skills at about the same DPS% (they were only off by 1%) and tested on both Wd/M and Wd/D (those two were the same toon) with Charged Chop at 2x the DPS% of PotWS.

At the same DPS%, I got Charged Chop doing a bit more but not by a lot. At 2x the DPS%, Charged Chop did significantly less than 2x the damage of PotWS.

The things that pop into my head are differences in the base damage (perhaps from a bug) and differences in how the skills roll against defense.

I might consider doing a test using a strong stim to make sure damage increases by the expected percent (any variation implies that some damage is based on PDam rather than DPS) or comparing the same skills versus high and low defense mobs to test that they scale similarly. I'll try to get Frantic Briar in there as well.

I'm just posting some ideas here for now in case anyone else decides they went to make a test before I get to it.
