Well, Music... you have to keep a few things in mind while you play around with classes. First of all, some combos are great in PvP but suck in PvE and vice versa.
Some are really fun to play while you level and then when you get to endgame and try the hard stuff, you find yourself ineffective. How well you gear a combo can make all the difference in the world, too.
P/S is hella great in PvP if you build it like a mage, but without good healy gears it's no good in PvE. I can't heal past RT on mine, but she has crap healy gears and I have no healing skills. A dps build p/s can't do even a third of the dps my mage can do on a boss, in the exact same gear.
This is mitigated by my chosen combo, which is m/p/s. I do PvE on m/s or m/p and do PvP on p/s. Problem solved. M/S and m/p are damned good dps if geared well. P/S is damned good in PvP if geared well (like a mage, all intel and mattack). I get to use one set of gear on both.
If you want to go melee, w/r is good in PvP and PvP, and you could always go w/r/p and get a battlemonk (p/w, which is a melee class that wears cloth, and it is OP in PvP) and a viable healer out of it, p/r. Mages love p/r's
You would need a lot more gear to achieve that versatility though. You'd need chain for the warrior, cloth statted with pattack for the battlemonk, and cloth statted for heals for the p/r. You'd need 3 weapons also
Stuff like that is doable- and I know people who play that exact combo, and they love it. It just requires a lot of gear and a lot of dias.
My advice is to reroll m/p/s. I say this because the class is as close to an "easy button" class combination as you will ever find. You can get the same versatility as the w/r/p without as much of a gear investment. Two sets of gear instead of three. I already have a great PvE combo and a great PvP combo. If I wanted to be a healer, I could easily get a set of real healy gear and have 2 viable healing classes to choose from, p/m or p/s. Two weapons instead of three, and you'll be able to get away with one unless you want to do endgame content on two classes.
No one single class combo can or should do it all. The three class system really frees you from being bound to a single roll. Stop thinking "I need to be able to do all this on my x/x toon" and start thinking "I can do soloing on m/p and instances on m/s and pvp on p/s and party healing on p/s too if I use my healy gear" etc.
