Wd/D falls into the category of a class that would be good except that a couple of their central, defining skills are broken. They get two party heals from their elites, but neither one of them goes through the heal equation correctly. One goes through at half the power it should and the other doesn't go through at all (which means it's completely pointless at end game).

They are possibly the best class in the game in the mid game levels... something like level 50-64. They are good tanks, their DPS nearly keeps up with mages, and the make a very respectable off healer. The problem is that everything but their tanking ability falls behind by end game, and tanking ability really only matters if you can generate enough threat to make use of it. If they ever fix those two skills though, it will be a completely different story, IMO.

Roll a Warden, gear is generally lower in price, high solo ability and function great in PvP and PvE. You can't beat having a pet that does as much if not more damage/health/utility than you.

Wd/W: Great combo, works well early game, soloing is very good. Later, they can become tanks or dps or both.
Wd/D: Works excellent early and solo (Lots of fun solo). Can be geared as caster or melee, awesome in parties and solo play. They have an all healing Charged Chop (I am not geared well as a physical dps and mine heals for ~4k hp) and have awesome utility in small or large groups. Very well rounded character.
Wd/R: Works decent in early and solo, not the best. Can be awesome dps or tank if needed. Charged Chop and Power of the Wind Spirit both have increased critical hit rate amongst other skills that do more damage.
Wd/M: Works well early and solo (Power of the Oak Spirit heals you every 5 seconds). Wind Chop is OP and does awesome damage in both PvE and PvP. (I have a friend that does better dps as a Wd/M than equally geared R/S players)
Wd/S: Works decent in early and solo. Has ridiculous amount of damage boosting and Chiron does ridiculous damage.

Warden still has not been accepted as a playable class but is an awesome class that has one of the best solo IN THE GAME! They all have the potential to do damage or tank.

wondering why anyone has not said much about p/w :P

w/p:very good for survivor and solo if you dont like to be as squishy as a rouge but stil watn to actualy do dmg unlike knight. solo class only wiht some pvp potential if geard right. will not most likely not get pug :P

P/w: most undervalued class with good potential both in instances and pvp. difficult to play but when you lern it is realy fun XD. will proly not get pug :(

ok here some thought (keep in mind i have a lvl 61/60 p/w so im not endgame):

due to the fact that any class can get to lvl 50 off just questing/dailys alot easier thyen when i started (ch1) i think its worth trying for anyone who is willing to actualy put in work to this build.

1. lvling war is not to bad. moderate good pdef and patack with heals alows for moderat solo(died only 4 times geting war side to 50 during ch1 days)

2.lvling priest side... hard but still ok untill lvl 35 XD thx to elite it get eaiser ( altho you can die more thx to 2 ocrap buttones you save yourself alot more too).

3. this is not an easy pick up and play class you need to realy learnd the ins in outs. its veary fun to play and even more fun to own ppl who think your crap cuss your a utility class that has no potential in any spot...

4.i have owned ppl who have out lvled and out geard me so i know its
potential it just takes more on your part/

5 altho i am not endgame i see lots of dmg potetial in p/w combo as well as amazing skills like soulbound(self rez), Soul source(insta full heal), and holy aura(5 sec pdmg imunity) all free skills :D as well as lots of buffs.

6. just have to say lvl 35 elite is 45% pdmg buff to axes ... hiest single hand dps wepon... that alone with 660% dps skill ADS lvl 30 elite at lvl 70.. and (not sure of this) 600% dps spam skill with lvl 50 elite pet out. with the right patack you can hit major dmg alot more then some classes XD.

7.w/p is hard to copete but gets some nice elites as well. ability do lower mdg(PerfMagicBarrier) and oportuity skill whci was doing 550% at lvl 50 or so when i last lvled it at the end of probing attack chain dose nice ok dps

8 Gearing is a nightmare :( take lots of research for a good set up based of your play style and gear usualy is gear not sold cuss its not worht anything to the common classes. whcih also means your gear wont sell :(

9 Recommendation:if you want to just get started playing and learn the game this is not class combo for you. if you looking for somthing unique with lots of potential(but lots of work) then you can try it out if you dont like take a scout or rouge third and see how you can siwthc your role easy for instances and such.

p.s. p/w with 16k patack can out dmg a better geard same wepon t and plues w/k and k/w with 24k patac and way out geard. proven fact. altho thos clases arnt dps so not much can be said XD. also same p/w can kill lvl 70 wd/s with better gear :P

Sounding really enjoyable so far :D

One thing though, I am still curious about Wd/D. I had forgotten about it earlier, when posting my previous post.

What sort of character is a Wd/D? I know they're, at least, fairly tanky and can heal, and supposedly do pretty great damage as well. But, are they single-target chars or AOE'ers?

Wd/D is perhaps, THE most survivable class in game solo. I've talked about it elsewhere, but I'll give you the pros.

First, if you really go for nice mage DPS gear, at lvl 55 EXPECT to be able to solo DoD first boss Easy and Normal, HoS 1-3 Easy (HoS 1st boss normal AT LEAST) Blind Hackman, etc. Those are just a few of what I accomplished with the combo, I have more but I need to get back to the EXP bonus before its gone. Keep in mind the numbers below for damage and defense are WITHOUT pots and exterior buffs.

Your strengths:
1.) Great Pdef.
-With Mage Gear, I have 50k+ Pdef during fights due to [Blade of Protection] and [Heart of the Oak].

2.) Good DPS solo.
-My white hits (auto-attack) are over 71k now, crits over 145k+, I'm lvl 60 with only one item over lvl 55. This is perhaps the only class that can hit autoattack, walk away to get a drink, and come back to a nicely damaged boss... and still be alive. I've done this by accident on HoS first boss easy lol. My mother in law came to the door with baby and I had to walk away dreading a death, but came back with over 70% HP and the boss with a bloody nose.

-AoEs are better for me now that I have my 2H axe. Before (due to the focus on MDam) my Frantic Briar was only 3k Damage. Now it's 30k+. When I get higher, my PDam/PAttack and MDam/MAttack will be more balanced.

3.) Good heals.
-When I don't swap out mage DPS gear with heal gear, I am pushing 7k heals with 1.5k HoT, but with healer gear I heal myself for 15k+ with 2.5k+ HoT. You also have the Crystal Heal which is a small regen, and Charged Chop which is a decent AoE heal. Keep in mind at lvl 55, the hardest a boss was hitting me solo was about 8k, AT MOST. So you can heal, hit, hit, heal, hit, etc. those heavy hitting bosses.

4.) Good damage against players in PvP.
-Now this is tricky but if you have your 2H DPS staff out, you can make tanks double think going after you or the scout they are chasing. At lvl 58 I was hitting lvl 70 tanks for over 15k damage non-crit. The Magic Damage from Earth Spirit Essence goes through pdef on tanks and melee types like crap through a goose. When you go up against casters, it's just a matter of switching to your 2H axe and plowing through their Mdef. I've had rogues come out of hiding to attack me from the front and get 1 hit by my Earth Spirit Essence lol. I'd just be walking around whistling and BOOM, oops.

Don't get me wrong, Wd/D is NOT PvP king. Scouts and a few other combos give you major anal hurt from all the rape, but you are also able to support your guildies in siege beyond being a front line troop. You are able to be a tanky type healer, root melee types for your ranged people to pick off (and eventually take those melee types out with Earth Spirit Essence with the quickness).

Solo you are King, PvP you are average. The good thing about this is that you can pick a third class to be your main PvP combo if you want. In example, be a S/Wd or M/Wd (cause you can use the same Mage DPS gear you already use) in siege, and switch to Wd/D when you need to solo farm Mems and gear.

----------------------------------------

Now the real good thing about this combo is that I was able to farm Mentos and DoD/Hos stats at lvl 55 which can really help you with gearing or getting stats for your alts, or to sell if anyone is buying. That is what you might want to consider if you want a strong "first class" that can provide for your alts.

If you need screenshots with my stats, kills, and hits for proof, etc. lemme know. Here's Blind Hackman I did today. Note that while I am lvl 59, I had no changes to gear and only leveled my two main skills two levels, thus this would be able to be performed by you at lvl 55:

1) What is the best class combo to solo, from complete noob all the way to max?

I'm looking to have a character that will be great for farming, at all levels, if possible.

Edit: *My biggest desire for farming is to be an AOE farmer. I want to be able to take out Elites solo, as well as large groups of mobs, with minimal fear of dying.

2) What are the best class combos for PvP (read, most solid, best balanced)?

I'm just wanting to know the classes that are the most balanced and worth playing, in terms of effectiveness.
I don't want to waste my time on combos that I find out 50 or 60 levels later are actually sub-par and in need of work.

Edit: *I'm asking these questions from a 'current' perspective (i.e. In Chapter IV, what is currently working the best).

1) wd/x(probably druid)

2)r/x

sure.

As long as the op bandwagon stays away from wardens/x, any other class combo for pvp is great imho :)

I full concur with any class combo for pvp except wd/x.

did I mention that wd/x is horrible for pvp?(hint, hint-op bandwagon stay away/go mess up some other class. wd already have enough broken stuff-hint, hint)

W/R is pretty squishy. Their buffs for maximum damage reduce pdef by a lot, some 80% or more, IIRC. I would guess W/K to be a much better solo class.

w/r pdef reduction buff is only a small burst :P. to be honest as far as solo i wouldent see anyone realy using that, its more like a boss burn phase buff realy or maybe for a quick kill in seige.

as far as w/k, yes very nice solo if you like taking hits while dishing them and be able to survive well. this combo dose meet all the requirements of op but remeber you have to lvl BOTH classes to be more effective. lvl 50 is easaly atainable but still :P. surivability goes up the higer k side is lvl and especialy at lvl 40(plate elite FTW) and on knight side lvl 20 elite makes lving a breze and gear a no brainer. if you like melee type then with sustained dps and highe survivability and solo potential thsi is good class for you :P.

No good answer

A good site is www.romwiki.com. have a gander there and read on the different skills and levels and classes. Play what makes you happy or simply make four or five alts and try it all.

PVP:

R/M
R/K
R/P
S/Wn

PVE:
R/S (Shadowstab is OP)
K/R (Lots of AoE, very VERY low chance of dying.)
M/* (Lots of AoE, I would recommend M/K for the best survivability)
S/* (Shatterstar is OP and Scouts have a lot of AoE)
Wn/* (Lots of AoE)

Thank you all for the wealth of information you've given. Since my last post I've created both an M/P and a Wd/D. I'm trying them out now to since which I have more fun playing, to determine my sugar daddy char :D

I've noticed, even as an earlier posted stated, leveling up (via quests) is slow. A lot slower than I anticipated, to be sure.

Again, thank you all for sharing :)

I'd advise you to keep your secondary class 10 levels behind your primary class, you can turn in quests up to 10 levels above your current class. Try not to waste main quests on your secondary, you'll get stuck eventually. When you get both of your classes to level 20 and get your third class, you can teleport to Heffner Camp in the Coast of Opportunity zone. This is one of the newer zones and the quests give MUCH more experience than the ones in the same level zones.

M/P and Wd/D are probably your best bets for solo/leveling/sugar daddy classes, they can hold their own in damage and healing abilties. If you are looking for endgame classes, you should probably look for a more specialized and less general class combination.

When I first started on RoM, I made a ton of chars to find the one I like best in questing.
I created M/P, W/K, P/W, R/S, S/W, Wd/D, W/R , M/S, for starters.
Make different combos of classes that sound fun to play, play each of them until you decide what "personally" looks and feels good.
Otherwise you are just playing chars that others are suggesting that are OP or fun to play.

Questing and doing dailies, taking advantage of those rare 2x or 3x EXP weekends, and using those freebie potions (from the blue bags) that give you a hour-long +50% exp boost, all of those things level your chars pretty fast IMO.

Levelling gets slow when you are at higher levels.
I hit 40 in my primary class and levelling to that point was pretty fast.

I will definitely be careful about the quests I have my secondary class do.
I didn't realize the Coast of Opportunity zone was that profitable! As soon as I get 20/20 I'm going to head there and tear it up

I honestly haven't given it 'that' much thought. Though, I was considering having my initial, sugar daddy, character provide for my alts. I made this determination without giving thought to the endgame it will eventually find itself in.
However, the other part of my original plan, was to create a PvP character and give more care and thought to what I do with it, regarding endgame.
Hmm...

That is exactly what I went in wanting and asking for. And, by the good graces of those far more experienced than I, at this game, it is exactly what I received.

Yeah, if you go through that zone and the next, it will take you to about level 50 in a matter of 2-3 days if you get into it.

I hate to break this to you, but PvP is NOT very good feature in this game. The rewards are decent but no where near usable. You will be very disappointed in the PvP in this game, most of the PvP action happens in Siege Wars. I still haven't seen a single player using gear from or even statted for PvP action.

Thunderstorm is always an option, if Master wanted to do from the mob group is not only stagnant, injury and damage, because there is no guarantee the emissions will reach a group.
