Knight/Warrior, 2-h Axe training srsly?

Does a knight need this, more than his/her warrior side? I thought the whole point of playing a knight is to have a shield. I would prefer to have the ability to throw my shield than drop it all-together and pick up a 2-h axe. This feels like an Identity Crisis to me. Does playing a knight and warrior mean I am supposed to switch roles?

When I first started playing the game I thought it was strange how easily I became sword & shield with my warrior, and 2-handed on my knight. I thought, "play your role, this looks silly," only to find out that is what the game intended all along. Am I crazy or is this weird to anyone else? I mean my warrior is better at parrying than my knight, and my knight is better at using 2-handers than my warrior is what I'm seeing.

I believe that the 2H Axe Mastery on the Knight is theoretically equivalent to losing the shield but really, it's just a matter of personal preference.

When I play as K/W, I use a 1H axe & shield.

I played K/W for 2 years and basically you need both.

Swiching works via Macro so that you switch to 1H+Shield for WWS (and trashgroups) and 2H for everything else. Depending on your buffed values you can completely 2h-tank bosses and still survive without problems, just be careful with Berserk.

Its just great fun and generates enormous amounts of aggro.

btw as a Warrior you get +70%(?) on ALL 2H-Weapons that includes 2H-Axes ....
