Approaching End-Game Knight! Where to next?

Hi everyone! As I approach the end-game status of a Knight on my first ever toon (god help me it has taken years!), I just want to know what is in store for me! I've heard a lot of whining about how the Knight has been nerfed hard. I get that, but personally, I love the class! To say that I've spent a lot of money on Diamonds would be an under-statement, but I am pretty well geared for a level 65. I don't want to spend too much more money on diamonds, but time, perseverance, and farming mems is not a problem. Hell I've got all summer! I know I know, Chapter V is coming out, and I am highly exited! The Champion that everyone says will "Replace" the knight probably wont. The knight has, and always will be the tank class! What will it take for me to reach level cap? I don't want to spend money on tons of gear before CH V comes out, but I do want to know what is the best? What decisions should I make? How should I play out the game? What are the requirements for tanking instances? Anything else I should know? Thanks!

Your enthusiasm is laudable... But would you care to talk a bit more about your toon? Gear level? What you have tanked? What's your combo?

Alright then! Here are some screenies of my gear. I left out my earrings because they are the default ones you get with the level 60 pack.

Sword (Pretty boss I'd say, made it myself from a dropped-weapon I got in AH)

My Pants! Yay

Rest of my gear (Some of it sucks, some of it is good)

Now my character, and pdef buffed

Pdef with knight buff

K, now for my skills :)

*Edit* couldn't do the last page, reached limit on photos :)

Thats a wrap folks! I am a K/P/R Rouge is level 36. Priest is 46. Knight is just now 65 :). I have tanked in DoD and WA. Also HoS with a very nice healer named Moonspells :). I usually do siege for my guild Lostdreamers on the server Reni. There you go Galenwaithien, info good?

Wait till you hit 67+ man, the gear is gonna make your stats explode lol.

You need to keep more of your skills higher though. Defense Tech, and Resilience help keep you alive. As a knight, you wanna milk that Parry for all its worth. I'm surprised your Defense Tech is zero... FOR A KNIGHT lol! Maybe drop Holy Strike some (60+ish, 5 levels under main level) and pull up Resil, Dev, Def Tech as high as you can.

My characters of all kinds usually keep skills 5 levels under character level. At lvl 70, all skills are usually 65 if it can be helped. Then I just farm TP to level up skills further. Keeping skills 5 levels under character level allows more skills to mathematically higher at a good ratio so that you have an all around stronger character skill wise.

You should at least have the beastman set on you, Armond's knight gear would be a huge improvement. Look up our guild leader Zidlef or co-lead Matronmalice on Reni. I'm sure they would help you out with beastman set if you need, they are very nice and helpful.

Parry is like a rogue, warrior and scouts worst enemy. No matter how much your enemy tries, that parry is like turning someone's weapon into stick of butter.

You should really keep Whirlwind Shield at max level because the aggro multiplier on it is 10x (I could be wrong). For K/R, it is an absolute MUST to have Holy Strike at max level. Getting crits on those Holy Strikes can make a huge difference in aggro. I'm not so sure about K/P as it is one of the few combos I haven't played. I would imagine having Devotion levelled for K/P would offer very little merit. Punishment is a mana waster. Disarmament isn't a great skill unless you are solo or questing.

The numbers for tanking are about right. Generally, you want to stat more along the stam, pdef, hp and patk. Strength and Dexterity give you very little of those stats. When you stat, try not to get so much Dexterity, if you are worried about accuracy, there is a rune for that.

What you currently have on is fine for leveling and doing little stuff like Dl/ZS/HoS where you'll outlevel the bosses by a bunch, but you're going to want to replace most of your gears, but we all have to do that, so don't feel bad. Disclaimer: I am not a Knight, and I don't pretend to know much about how knights gear, but here's some general info.

Actual Knights will be able to give you direction on what sets you want to go for. Ardmond is probably a good way to go, since GCH gear is good and should be fairly inexpensive. Beast Man could be good too, and I am fairly sure you want to keep your Dilany ring and get the memento accessory set from the ToSH/Redhill codex people.

The Yawaka Guard will do for the time being, otherwise I think you should be on the lookout for a ToSH hammer or one-handed sword. My guys are using the ToSH hammer at the moment, and it drops a lot. Start saving for tier stones, t9 is about as low as you want to go.

The biggest nooby mistake you want to avoid is going cheap on stats. Once you get gear that will be endgame, stuff you want to keep for a while, become super-picky about how you stat. Stam, def, hp, pattack. Maybe one strength. No more mdefs, no more wis, no more dex. Consult with real endgame tanks and find a modding build you like and stick with it. You will take longer to get geared, but it will save you money in the long run. If you're gonna do it, do it right. That's good advice for pretty much all classes. As you level, stat with whatever is cheap and will help you. Once you get serious, GET SERIOUS.

Being a tank is a pretty thankless job in a party. Look for a good mentor to help you learn your role in a party well. As a tank, the life of everyone in your party is in your hands, so put as much effort into learning tanking as you put into your gear, and people will love you for it.
