Healing and dps capapbilities

I'm looking for a class combo that has good survivability (through heals probably) but that can also be good dps. I'm currently leveling up a m/d since i hear magmablade is pretty powerful but i was wondering if for dps/heals would be better to go p/s since they have both heals and dps while m/d has dps and d/m would be the heals. i also have a warrior side but not quite sure what i'm gonna do with it yet. any info on p/s, d/m healing capabilities compared to a m/d p/s dps capapbilites would be helpful. I've also been looking into a dps wd/s since chirion is well i always wanted chirion but never decided strongly to play a wd/s.

It depends on what you want to do the most. Do you want to go solo for a while, be competitive dps in instances, or healer primarily?

M/D's magma blade is powerful in siege war, but it tends to fizzle a bit on the dps meter in instances. P/S is epic in PVP due to Iceblade, but fairly lousy in instances, both heal and dps wise.

Mage/Warrior is considered to be the class to beat for overall DPS in the mage category, with decent survivability stacked into the build.

Also, bear in mind you can only have up to three classes on one toon, although with a Fruit of Forgetting you can reroll a class. I can't speak as to wd/s as I haven't played that combo yet or run with anyone who has.
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.

Another fun (Notice I didn't say good) dps/heal combo is the P/W combo. When stating you have to decide how heavy to go on the heals vs dps, but it can work as either or a mixture of both. A quick note that if you try to do both you won't be great enough at either to help out a party at end game. However, it does make for a fun solo combo type.

As LadyMacV stated, P/S is not good DPS in PvE. It only shines in PvP...and that's ONLY if you have fully offensive mage-statted gear, thereby giving up a lot of your survivability/healing power. A heal-statted P/S is not going to do much damage at all.

If you want a combo that can be both a dedicated healer and a good DPS, your best bet would be something similar to M/P or M/D, with a third class for P/X or D/X for better heals (though D/M or P/M will do the job as well). Keep in mind, however, that statting up two sets is extremely costly, so you may want to decide which role you prefer in a party and stick with that.

M/P and P/M are great combos to play with in terms of DPS and heals, respectively.
M/D that you have is a decent combo too!
P/S is not so great.

p/s can be a good healer with some damage but you have to stat for it and you will suffer in heals and dps.like they have been saying not great dps but it can be done you just wont be on top of the dps scrut.you need to have casting bonuses to get your cast time for rising tide to under 1 second and it will only last 20 seconds for burst dps then its an ice blade spam.

I have to disagree with this, but only on the healing portion. P/S can be an excellent healer even when statted as a dps/healing hybrid priest with a mage staff. I know this because I have ran with one quite a bit and her heals are phenomenal. Its just sad how the run of the mill player disregards a class combo based on a fairly narrow experience with them.

Not many people know how to heal as a p/s in instances. Reason why is because its not easy enough for them. Get a skilled player to play it *cough*Yuhwa*cough* and they easily replace a p/k or any other healing combo in any instance.

Ya I have to agree with Raves, P/S is an amazing healer if played right, as Yuhwa is.

You should, they're great in the mage group. Or p/r. Yuuuuuuuum. Both is heavenly.

P/S with healy gear statted for heals = just as good as P/K (kinda better, if person is skilled) but harder to play.
P/S with healy gear statted for mage = great heal potential (needs skill, some builds are squishy)
P/S with mage gear statted for mage = ruuuuuuuun! (damage from staff is not enough, need HPIP)
