Lots of good stuff heading for Warden

and bad....now...before the "Oh MY GOD!!! they kill my Warden, boo hoo!" .... ok let's talk...

I don't trust The patch note, especially it's translated ;p so i went in and find out myself.

yay!- Charge Chop - scale on strength and instant cast now (they listened)
yay!- Briar Shield - additionally give up 30% defense bonus
yay!- POWS - spamable AOE now (i guess..but up 3 target still good)
yay!- Protection of Nature - increase HP up 5% and healing up 15%. guess this replace Heart of Oak.
yay!- Nature Lifetime - passive increase Warden's stre and stam (nice! Knight and Warrior gonna jealous)
yay!- Cross Chop - straight line AOE scale on Str and look badarse. Oh and cause aggro.
yay!- Summon Oak - increase defense and parry by 20% (holy nice!)
yay!- Summon Oak Walker - increase crit chance by 200 increase crit damage by 10% (no complaint here =D) Chiron watch out!
yay!-Summmon Crystal - IMMUNE TO ALL DAMAGE!!!! despite you can't attack, woot hoot! I'm just kidding, it's the same as before. No change heh...Dev trick us again, patch note fails
--------------------------------------------------------
nay!- Savage Power - reduced down 17% max
nay!- Heart of Oak - no longer require summon, make you immune to 2 attack (wtf?) Did we lose this ability, yes, did we get compensate with something else? yes.
nay!- Power of Oak - no longer long duration buff, only last 30 sec.
---------------------------------------------------------

In the end, It seem Warden still get more buffs than nerfs. It's still a win for most part of warden.
Big Picture: It seem we use summon for combat more now and less for buff. Which is great in my opinion, isn't that what Warden about, use pet to fight, not to eat them for power, if so, why not play Warrior instead? correct? The only problem is summon pet still aggro doing stupid things and get your party rage at you about your retard summon heh. Oh and more Charged Chop heading this way! finally!

I was a Warden/Druid (and really much every other Wardens over the last 2 years) but no longer Warden/Druid so can't really say much about those buffs, but look promising.

So which Warden do you think will be best dps Warden now?
Is it still Warden/Scout?
or is it Warden/Rogue (the Oak Walker lover, the summon just got huge buff)
Warden/Warrior (probably not...)
Warden/Mage.......uh...>_>
Warden/Druid the new tank?

Discuss please....

A real yay instant is nice, although scaling with strength is useless as all attribute modifiers are useless for all classses. This has been mentioned in one of your threads before you should know this by now.
yay!- Briar Shield - additionally give up 30% defense bonus
Good for x/wdn not good for Wdn/x. Is a nerf considering new defense bonuses added up is still less than the old HOTO
yay!- POWS - spamable AOE now (i guess..but up 3 target still good)
A real yay as well.
yay!- Protection of Nature - increase HP up 5% and healing up 15%. guess this replace Heart of Oak.
Again worse than old HOTO in HP department, healing is nice though so this is an even.
yay!- Nature Lifetime - passive increase Warden's stre and stam (nice! Knight and Warrior gonna jealous)
Str is no big deal as Wardens don't stack str as a primary, raw P.Att is still more P.Att. And the stamina part for Wdn/W is not a big deal, still less stamina than Knights and Champions
yay!- Cross Chop - straight line AOE scale on Str and look badarse. Oh and cause aggro.
Adding aggro to this skill is a yay, Wdn/W only had 1 aoe, Will Attack but that was nerfed and no longer does.
yay!- Summon Oak - increase defense and parry by 20% (holy nice!)
Another even in my opinion, defense is still lower than old HOTO with new buffs added up but parry is nice.
yay!- Summon Oak Walker - increase crit chance by 200 increase crit damage by 10% (no complaint here =D) Chiron watch out!
A yay.
yay!-Summmon Crystal - IMMUNE TO ALL DAMAGE!!!! despite you can't attack, woot hoot! I'm just kidding, it's the same as before. No change heh...Dev trick us again.
Yep, nothing happened
--------------------------------------------------------
nay!- Savage Power - reduced down 17% max
Savage Power always increased P.Att to 17% only
nay!- Heart of Oak - no longer require summon, make you immune to 2 attack (wtf?)
Real nay
nay!- Power of Oak - no longer long duration buff, only last 30 sec.
Real nay

Annotations in Bold. Overall this patch was a buff to all x/Wdn classes, an okishh patch for DPS class wardens, but a huge nerf to Wdn/W tanks. Wdn/W can no longer tank end game because of this patch, so no, overall this is NOT a more pro than cons patch. Wdn/W tanks already had less aggro production when clearing trash than Knights(more aggro production on single target). That's the trade-off. Changing Will Attack hurts their aggro production. Go find an endgame Wdn/W tank. Ask them how much P.Def they can buff up to now. It's about half of what it was before today. They went from tanking Tosh-H/AC to tanking SC at best. Won't even survive GCH.
Firetruck W/Wdn/S 72/72/72- Retired as well now...
Bangsalot K/S/R 70/70/68 - Retired
Heretic- Reni

Cross Chop getting an aggro factor is a bad thing for anyone except for WRDN/W... Giving Taunt to WRDN/D ? And the elite Blade of Protection was given aggro. Then they went and took away our one ability that could actually do dmg while we healed. Essence of the Wood Spirit was actually reduced. At lvl 65 mine was maxed out so was adding 740 earth dmg to my normal attacks. This allowed me to do minimal dmg while I was buffing and healing my group. Now they want to change it to a flat 100 earth dmg no matter what the lvl? Massive nerf right there. Of course it is broke and the change didn't work but if it does get 'fixed' to what the patch notes say, then it will be a massive nerf. Why would someone with healing abilities and been playing all this time as a support class now want to restat and regear because their combo is now a tank?

Now the things you mentioned about the pets, they sound nice..... If only they actually worked. Non of the pets are giving any of the buffs they are now supposed to give. So now with the removal of Heart of the Oak for our buff, we have been made into paper dolls until they retweek and fix what they broke while trying to change them.

(Forgot Charged Chop's cool down was reduced from 3 sec to 1 sec so when I was talking about the shared cool down, I gave bad information)

Summon Oak - increase defense and parry by 20% (holy nice!)

Defense bonus: even with defense bonus overall defense decreased with ~35%, This buff requires your pet to be alive so more work for your priest, keeping tank alive on first priority keeping your pet alive on second priority and then comes the party. Coz of this i wont call it a skill rather than bonus same as cavy pet, and thus tank wd/w losing 60% overall def.
Parry bonus: How much parry will be increased with 20% parry bonus? 20% of 0 will still be 0. Chain gear dont have parry bonus on it and hence its useless for all wd except wd/w(with plate gear) which is no longer a tank after yesterday's patch.

Oh and Power of the Wood Spirit is not spamable, It was given a 3 sec CD (sorry this is what the patch notes said but the CD is not working) and it is NOT an AOE, it only hits up to three targets that are in front of you.

It is spammable for me... tried it out last night soloing hos. I can't one-shot trash with frantic briar any more, but this skill is a nice substitute. Hits the whatever is targeted, plus 2 other random mobs in the immediate area. I was still able to clear trash pretty quickly by tabbing around til all were dead.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is that we not only do we not have to "absorb" our pets for their sacrificial buffs, but also all 3 stack (previously only could have one at a time). Although I wish the durations were longer, I still like what this does. Also means I don't need to stop every 15 mins to rehit my buff and then resummon my pet.

I have been reading the "new warden" threads and have not noticed anyone saying the following:

Our Frantic Briar, along with it now having a 12 second CD, has been DPS nerfed to the point where it is useless. I think the CD is 12 seconds but am not sure. I logged on, saw that and other nerfs, and logged off so I might be wrong about the 12 seconds. I am guessing that it is now about 1/3 of its former glory.

I consider Frantic Briar to be useless now.

Former glory is right.

And don't tell me good for warden/warrior lol. I'm not even playing mine until they "try" to figure out how to fix it next week. Im not putting in points and then resetting them again a week later.

Warden/warrior: the new sitting duck for rogues and mages. pow.

Warden/warriors always were the sitting ducks because the devs always put a cooldown one any decent attack they ever had. If it wasnt for the POWS spam, theyd be dead within seconds to a Rogue or Knight. Im gonna see if any of these changes do me any good during Siege. But from my attempts at tanking HoS and DoD are any indication, Im pretty much dead meat.

Btw for those talking about the 20% parry, it doesnt add 20% more parry it give a parry rate of 20% ( statistically 1/5 hits are parried) still doesnt make up for the defence loss. But just a wee bit of info.
