What is the purpose of a P/Champ?

So far I have gotten my p/champ to 45/45 and I am a little bit lost as to how the heck I am supposed to do anything. I have more Champ abilities than I do priest. For soloing that is. Seems like I should be in melee rather than trying to nuke something down with Rising Tide. Still, rage is a hard thing to come by. With defensive buffs to make up for the cloth gear, I don't take dmg so don't get rage. The elite is nice for this as it adds rage to chains of light but you only get 3 rage per tick so doesn't add up fast enough to offset the mana cost of CoL. Then I start to think about healing and am starting to look at the elites here and they seem to all revolve around a rage based heal. How are you supposed to get rage while healing? Sure you could be casting CoL but that's not a smart thing to do unless your group is over powered and doesn't need much healing.

So what's the purpose of a p/champ? The elites seem to almost useless unless I am missing something.... Especially the one with a run speed increase.

RoM has a LOT of available class combinations. Some of them are gimp. I suspect that this is one of them, though I don't have personal experience.

You might switch it around to ch/p and try to be a tank. I don't have experience with that one either, but have heard rumors that it's good. Or pick up rogue and be Ch/R, which is definitely a good tank/DPS (ok, I may be biased since that's what I play, but look at all the high level champ you can find and I expect the majority will be Ch/R).

The majority of priests have healed with base priest skills (regen, urgent, group heal) unmodified for most of the endgame content until the latest 60 and 70 elites. That said, maybe p/ch isn't as deft a healer as say p/s, but doesn't mean it won't be ineffective. In all actuality, looking at the elites now, I see they're pretty darn good to have in addition with the base skills. Perhaps all you need is practice.

To get rage while healing you have to learn to stand in melee range of the mob for your whitestrikes to hit it, which is how a lot of d/w get rage for their rage-heal. If you're solo-questing, when you tank hits, you gain rage as well.

If the combo doesn't suit your playstyle, consider switching to the opposite or picking up a third class so you can pick a new combo.
