Healers don't need to plus weapons?

So I was browsing over CharPlan trying to figure what would be the best (and most economically intelligent) staff to buy for my P/K. I decided to settle on the Kulech Staff, but that's beside the point.

I came to realize that no staves in the game receive HPI when plussed, only when tiered, essentially meaning that healers don't need to plus their weapons! Yay for happy wallets!

The only issue with that happy plan is that you get 2 HPIP for every point of mdam. So you might want to rethink that. You definitely do want to +16 your wand/staff, and you do want to calculate that in when you look at mdam bonuses on gear.

Mind you, some people like to clean tier weapons with stats- and healer is about the only class that can get away with that on a mainhand, but you still need to plus or you'll be gimping yourself badly.

Knights also do it :p

But on topic: Yes, you need to plus it. Plussing weapons gives a TON of magic damage, which affects heals quite a bit.

Oh, and you're a p/k.. don't use a staff. Use a wand and a shield.

HPIP isn't the only thing that factors into heals. Magic Damage is in all healing formulas as well, so it wouldn't be smart to sacrifice a ton of mdam just by not plussing your weapon.

And yeah, P/Ks don't use staves.

Ya, I was under the impression that magic damage increased healing as well (just not a lot).

It made a difference when I was keeping Regen's on myself when I was a Rogue Priest.

Mdam has a bigger role in the HoT healing formula than it does for burst heals, so it's more crucial to have for druids, but it's definitely needed for both classes.

For reference ~

The original thread was lost somewhere in the forum revamp, I think, since I haven't been able to find it, but there are the formulas it talked about. Mdam is not something you want to be lacking as a healer, regardless of class.
