D/S 60 Elite Camellia Flower - Lags bad

Hello,

I just got my lvl 60 elite last night and was very excited to try it out. I love the skill but OMG does it lag my computer now that it hits all in party instead of just one person.

Is there any legitimate way to remove the effect? I fear the answer is "no" but I have to ask.

Thanks.

Not a legitimate way, no.

All we can do is try pressuring them to fix it so it doesn't heal every damn object/pet/person/NPC in range. It would be much less laggy if it didn't count on objects in instances and pet egg/zodiac pets/siege towers. :(

I like the fact that it heals every thing around me in siege, ie. faces, towers, as well as on those quests which require keeping an npc or a group of npcs alive. I used to lag super bad myself when using it, and thought maybe it was just all the bouncing numbers on-screen, but after i got a much better laptop the only time my fps really drops is after the end effect goes off.

I would rather it not heal objects. Yeah, healing towers can be a nice side effect, but if that means having to deal with a dozen (or more) HoTs extra from non-warden pets in instances, do not want, period. People with good computers are having trouble with the lag this thing adds, too. 20+ numbers popping up on your screen every second (and that's only counting Camellia, not any other HoTs) is horrible. I had to disable "Healing Output" in Simple Damage Log, because the influx of numbers per second was making the client lag out.

::bumping due to importance::

d/s 60 elite not only makes the d/s lag bad, but also everyone within the vicinity of the d/s.
many people ask "please do not use camellia" because the spring flower eulogy effect crashes their client. and causes forced relog during instance runs. this is a very big performance issue and should be looked at,
maybe change the spell effect to minimize players being inconvenienced with crash to desktops.

please look into this issue!
Thankyou!

Yes. this is the big problem i'd like to see fixed for everyone.
its very noticeable. and very easy to single down to camellia flower spring flower eulogy aoe effect.
it is not the initial burst of the camellia flower, but the ending of spring flower eulogy.
100% crash to desktop in some instances.

currently its a good skill to clear up varanas central plaza...
"theres waaay too many alts around here, ::cast camellia flower:: this place is a ghost town."

Never once have I crashed people using Camellia. Not in KBN, not in varanas, not anywhere. Not sure if its just your server, but never experienced, or heard about it occurring on Reni (trust me, I've tried to do it :P )

I haven't crashed people with Camellia either, not in siege or PvE. Not saying it doesn't lag, since the lag is horrendous for druids ourselves, but other people can easily disable party members' spell effects. You will see the flower pop up on you, but if one flower is enough to crash you...think you have bigger problems.

As for us, the dozens of HoT numbers that pop up when you combine AoE Camellia + Healing Arrows + Recover + Blossoming Life is extremely laggy. The spell effects don't bother me so much, since I lag like crazy no matter what. It's the numbers that do.

Lag from numbers + effects can be greatly lessened by not making CF affect egg pets/zodiac pets/interactable objects/objects that can't even be targeted whatsoever...12 numbers/effects per second in a raid is a lot less than the 24+ we get now, and that's just from Camellia.

As for the effect, it's not great in terms of optimization, but it's hardly one of the laggiest skills there is in-game. There are countless others that should be fixed before even considering changing Camellia's graphic.

I would recommend that you turn off other players effects. I advise against asking some of the players that have been around awhile if they still have the old fix from when wardens crashed people in siege. While that was at one time endorsed by GMs, it is no longer. I further recommend submitting tickets to get change the effect to something less graphically strenuous for the game engine. While the fix for wardens took many months, other later fixes where implemented alot sooner, such as s/p vamp transform effect.

I've regularly advised people to go into their video settings and make sure that "Hide effects of other players" (in the Special Effects block) was selected. For those who have "slower" computers, it correctly removes some animations that can bog down the screen refresh (video lag). And most times, unselecting the other "special effects" will do a lot to speed the screen refresh, too.

As for the old "warden fix", yes, that was originally endorsed by FA when the "warden siege crash" issues were going on. But, those issues were eventually corrected. More importantly, it required editing or modifying one or more of the installed game files which, as most people know, is normally a ToS violation. So, creating that kind of fix, if you're caught doing it, will earn your game account at least a suspension, and possibly a permanent one.

Not that there's actually any way for GF to know if you've taken out the spell effect.

though really, for how how laggy the spell effects can be in this game, remove spell effects should really be officially allowed, if not endorsed.

I agree. Soul Source, Mother Nature's Wrath (especially when used on big mobs/bosses), that Nature Crystal warden buff, and Imprisonment Pulse are the worst offenders that I can think of off the top of my head. They're all either blinding or laggy as hell, or both. Frankly, if RW is going to code spell effects worse than a couple of monkeys could do, there needs to be a better solution than "remove other players' spell effects" in the interface menu. Removing other players' effects won't help when you have a blindingly horrid skill like Mother Nature's Wrath.

Most games have a way to simplify or even remove your, other people's, or every spell effect, right through the graphic configuration menu, and none of those games have such poorly coded skills as RoM does.

I don't know what it is about this game. I'm prone to headaches, but I don't have trouble with any other game's effects. Some of the spell effects in this game will trigger a migraine if I see them, though, so I'm forced to disable other players' effects and not use one of my skills which is way too bright. It would be nice if there was a better solution, but I doubt RW will ever bother.

Hence why that add-on should have remained allowed...but whatever, what's done is done. To get back on topic, this skill shouldn't be crashing people, but if it is, they really need to disable it from casting on inanimate objects and pets, because that's where a lot of the lag comes from. I don't see why this is taking so long. It was reported in the bug forum right after druids started obtaining this elite. It's not a difficult change to make...they did it with the D/M shield elite just fine, since it used to shield mailboxes and crap too.

at least the actual DC "effect" seems to only happen in specific locations...1 in particular in kbn and 2-3 in tosh. and raves, if u cant DC ur raid in kbn..then u sir, are a bad troll!

i miss the old remove spell effects..definitely made the lag a bit less..laggy. but whomever fixed the warden DC thing in ch3 should be shot.

always getting raped by wardens now >< they everywhere...and usually "green" and laughing loudly in vent

ok, lets compile an official list of skills that we want reworked graphically to minimize lag when used.
Gameforge & CM's please mail compiled community information to Runewaker for better gameplay, stability, and player enjoyment. ^ ^ <3

Soulsource, Priest skill (request skill effect change due to considerable performance loss on all low-high end machines)
Eggrice dumplings, buff (request skill effect changed to default food effect ::pulls out muffin crunches it::)
Mother Natures Wrath, Druid skill (request skill effect change to minimize lag on big monsters)
Thunder, Warrior skill, (request skill effect change to reduce lag/stutter on big monsters)
Imprisonment Pulse, Champion skill (request skill effect change to minimize lag/stutter)
Crystaline Protection/Acceleration, Warden skill, (request skill effect change to minimize lag/stutter)
Spring Carol 60 elite Druid/Scout (request skill effect change to minimize lag/stutter)

Please investigate these skills, try them at different view distances (zoom out, zoom in)
try these skills with 6-12 toons in kbn, or between letin & lekani in tosh.
they generate a considerable amount of performance loss, stutter, lag issues, and sometimes full raid crash to desktop.

p.s.
please look into skills Thunderstorm, Mage, and Group Exorcism d/s
sometime the aoe of these skills will not cast properly.
(it has to do with ambient/world objects blocking clicks on the ground)
(can be replicated in tosh jenny giant with camera view helicopter style, with ambient vines, if the ambient vine is in close proximity of place you cast skill effect, the skill will be blocked)
what is really happening is, the skill gets cast on the ambient vine, and not on the location the player intends to cast
i believe this to be the source of many reports of "my aoe is glitched/bugged/broken" etc.
i think many people misclicking their skills, and it is registering in locations that do not wish to execute that skill.
ie. (jenny giant boss room roof, instead of boss room floor)

also skybox's in instances are to big.
this might add to gameplay performance loss, having so much skybox for such small instances.
you should ask runewaker to develop/rework their dungeons in smaller skybox's to improve performance for the players.

sorry for long knit picky post! ^ ^
but i think some minor tweaking to certain effects/spells in this game can really add to class fluidity, gameplay performance, server performance, stability, player happiness.

Lets do it! ^ ^

please share thoughts, advice, criticism etc. :)

I tried for about a week. In the same spot you told me. I tried sooooo hard to crash the raid but....never worked :\

Could you imagine the nerdrage my guildies would have? Would be awsum, having the whole raid crash, instance reset xD Alas, never happened :(
