WD/W Question. DPS.

Curious on how WD/W does as a DPS instead of a Tank. Thank you in advance.;)

Well probably it would be insane, but you will have to have good healers, to allow your CH or another WD/W make good aggro, to hold you. Otherwise there is not many good skills for rotation.... Well there are only set skill from GC and slash on warrior side (besides CC of course). You have 3 skills if there is anyone to hold you Double Chop, Beast Chop and Pulse Mastery. The last one is the most problematic, as you will have to cancel + aggro buff.

From my personal experience as tank with DPS jewelery I can easily make 1/2 of best DPS in party during boss fight, with berserk on, so on full DPS gear.....

wd/w does great as a dps, but has to pay more attention to aggro, and rage. A concern about rage is heals. Direct heals and regens reduce rage, but group heals do not. I forget if d/wd healing ripple or d/s camelia flower. When I play healer, I try and keep w/x, x/w at 80% with targeted heals if needed to get the most heals and less impact on rage. Your healer should already know about healing and rage, if not: just simply let them know and practice a bit.

I'm calling BS... never in my life has a warrior ever told me to "stop healing them because it's reducing their rage".

As a Warrior, I have never seen my Rage affected by heal skills of any kind.

Feel free to practice with it. It will only take about 1 min to see that direct target heals(Urgent Heal or Recover) do affect rage regeneration and AOE heals(GH or MEF) do not. I recommend trying it out in the battle grounds.

edit:
MEF can be cast directly on the warrior, or x/w, and it still wont affect rage regeneration.

by how much though? is it the rage generation from being hit? or the rage generation from white hits? or both?
i know that recover registers as a magical damage skill (the initial burst heal) maybe this interferes with the rage generation mechanics when being hit by a mob?

i never noticed this before, but i can see it being a possibility with incoming burst heals and being hit by a mob/boss at the same time.

It is a chain effect. Direct target heals(*), reduce rage regen, which for a wd/w reduces the use of rage skills(ie slash), which is a dps generater. Now if they are doing a tanking role, it ends up affecting aggro generation in that chain too.

It seems that players are either so OP, or used to it already, that it is transparent, which is all a really good thing. This is mainly for players that want to improve or do not know about the link between heals and rage regen.

I'm anxious to hear more about this, but in all my time as playing a warrior, even P/W, the only link I've ever noticed between healers and rage is that if I get bubbled (wave armor) I don't generate rage for hits it absorbs. That's not necessarily a bad thing if I need the bubble, but I've had to right click remove bubbles some times. At risk of taking this thread further off topic, I think a P/W elite should make hits absorbed by Wave Armor still generate rage. Just sayin.

Lmao. They're probably related too. Camagic advised Statting Dex/P.Att as a Wdn/S.

Camagic no longer advises statting dex to improve chiron accuracy. I guess that he got to the point where Druffbaum was trying to explain like... a year ago?

Tested it. Heals did not reduce the rate I gained rage. Just his usual.

Sums it up.

Even as a d/w I could never tell the difference between heals/not healing. If I was *casting* a heal, sure, rage generation slows, since you are not white hitting during a cast.

I just gotta say, some of the things people say on here makes me /facepalm so, soooo much.

If it really works that way (heals reduce rage regeneration), it will probably be due to delay between rage regen and getting hit by something.
So you get hit--->heal to 100%---> no HP lost, no rage regen or you get hit --->no heal or under 100% ---> hp loos, rage reneg.
Personally I wouldn't care as CC would do most of the work anyway, but still worth knowing.
