Warden/Mage weapon/gear

Hello everyone I have played this game for a long time now. But I switched my class to my third class laying around. I am a warden/mage. Level 80/40.
Anyways, I am asking about what gear I should use for this hybrid class combo because of its level 15/15 elite skill "Wind Chop" some of my friends on my server (reni) have said that wind chop is not worth it. Only because it does 522% MHWDPS. Compared to CC. which (both at level 80) does 696% MHWDPS.
But apparently it can sometimes trigger 820 wind damage after a successful hit. This is magic based. I know that there are some of what I like to call, mutant weapon that you could pull off of mem vendors in Syrbal Pass. I currently have a T9 Fayloed's Huge Axe OD. But the T9 Bethomia Giant Sword Will be short about 500 pdmg. but the mdmg will be incresed by about 1k (unbuffed). So my final question is this: Is the wind chop "wind" damage from magical attack? or magic damage. If so, what weapon should I use? To make the most use of my damage.

Thanks.

go and get 2 weapons from a vendor equip and try it out on some mobs that are a couple lvls lower than you and compare numbers
also look at the lvl 60 and 70 elites.i dont play this combo(i have one but only lvl 30/30)
Zymologist wl/ch/m/p
Matronmalice p/s/m
Ceviche wl/ch

You loose 2h wep passive, as it only buffs your PDMG, you loose savage power and power of the oak, you don't have any passive for wind DMG and only have one magic scaled skill, not worth it at all. Don't have Wd/M, but if this spell is not somehow insane (by therms of DMG), than any magic build on Wd/M is not viable. Also there is a chance only, so it depends how big this chance is...

Thank you for the replies. I do understand the hardships of play as wdn/m. I was just looking because I tested it. Wind chop does 522% MHWDPS plus 820 wind damage. A level 80 warden/mage hit me for around 35k crit (wind damage) in mage gear. Only at skill level 25. Thank you for the replies. I was just wondering if it had any viability. In my honest opinion I think wind chop can hit pretty massively in mage gear. So, if you were to wear all mage gear plus a +16 T10 Fayleod's Huge Axe? would it make a difference in PvP? Thank you.

Well as for magic skill lvling it all the way from 25 to 80 will not do so much difference as lvlin any pdmg skill. In short words I wouldn't expect DMG from wind part of the skill to double it would be rather less than that. So DK what was his matt and your mdef, but same hit on pDPS gear would do probably same DMG on physical part ;) Well the only difference would be that people do not stat mdef like at all, still not worth it, as it would be char statted only for PvP with one melee magic skill..... If you really are so into PvP I would rather recommend to lvl up your mage and switch from Wd/M on M/Wd with magic gear...

Thank you very much. I will take this idea into consideration. :D

Iv'e wondered the same thing, but most or all the skills are for physical, like said in the previous posts. Most i can say to test it is gear a m/wd use the mage gear and switch over to wd/m to find out. If you use a staff, it will still have about 5k physical damage on it so charged chop wont be too useless, but wont hit as hard either.

Most likely the onlymagic skills you're going to find are from mage side, I wondered if it played like a mage, but with the oak thats tons of extra pdef. Always somethign to mess around with. I'e seen a couple wd/m's ins eige before most used physical gear and jsut used the mage side to pvp with, fireball for range + intensification. lightning to root and silence for healers.
For you to live or die is in my hands, In Gigi we trust.

things are simple. ppl that tell u that WC is worse than CC cause does less % dps simply have no idea.
just go physical dps gear and use CC + WS in ONE gcd and u will not regret
going for magical statting just cause WC does some extra magic wind dmg is no point
all wd's have CC/PotWS. 2ary classes can provide extra skills to use over CC in same gcd. and wd/m is one of these combos

Until the 60 elite breaks the combo. It adds a 3 sec CD to Wind Chop, for very little benefit to Power of the Oak. Wd/M was my favorite combo until this happened... so now I spend my days as Wd/S like everyone else. ><
