PVE warden who doesnt usually join groups

Ello everyone. i am still somewhat new at this game. I have a 23 rouge/scout and thats my highest. well yesterday i started a warden and im not entirely sure where to go.

I like the ability to use a sward and shield but also having some magic is pretty cool. reminds me of the shaman in another MMORPG that was fun but had a price tag per month. I usually do not party with others because of school and work requirments. But if i do, its about 2 or 3 members. But for the most part i am by myself. This leads me to two important questons:

first, on a pvp server, does that mean each faction, such as dwarfs, elfs, humans will be able to just kill eacother anywhere on the map? IE, i can go to logger to raid the village or smash around the people? or is it only in certain areas?

Second, i do not know which dual class to build as. I like using swords and good armor but love magic and AOE. I think it would be cool to have a battle mage sort of speak. I could go wd/mg but i want to use a sword and shield.

where should i go

In RoM on PvP server everyone is able to kill everyone, game is not racial in that sense... That makes thing a bit trickier, but as well PvP servers less populated.

L23 is nowhere near to learn and like/dislike class. Same goes for newly warden character you created.

Some folks love Wd/D with mage gear, while other prefer Wd/S which is still nice DPS, or Wd/W as nice tank.

M/Wd is not bad combo. other combo is W/M with mage gear. Best way is to try those combos... and see which one you like, or ask about specific combos...

oh no, i LOVE my L23 R/S combo. AMAZING DPS. I can take things on sometimes 5-6 lvls higher than me.

I just have a WD that i started. Im thinking WD/MG with heavy armor and a sword and shield. dont know if that is a good idea. haha. nothing like a dud with armor and a summoned spirit and can also cast fireball. haha but at same time a WD/D that can heal and still deal some DPS is nice

thanks

Well, no wardens can use shields. but they're still good tanks, depending on the 2nd class. if you want AoE magic dmg, can't go warden, for AoE's, any warden would do it, with Frantic Briar, Cross Chop and PoTWS. those 3 been physical damage. if you want magic dmg, as warden only possible way would be wd/d, which has a buff that enchances his weapon and makes his hits deal tons of magic dmg.

trying to conciliate all the requirements you want is going to be pretty hard.

1h sword + shield, that deals magic dmg aoe and uses heavy armor. only class i can think of is k/m, which is tanky, uses 1h sword and shield, and can deal magic dmg, and AoE dmg. and they're pretty op right now.

another thing, hybrid classes don't work in RoM, you gotta chose a path, or magic or physical.
Roxzincrazy r/wd/s/m 87/85/85/85 | Crazybr wd/d 85/63
Roxzin m/wl 85/70 | Roxzn ch/m/r/w 87/70/70/70

Hmm, good to know. i have read alot of guides saying that WD/MG do AOE and physical damage as well. When you say the K/M is pretty OP right now, what does the OP mean?

So i take it a WD/MG can still use frantic brier and other AOE physical damge also some magic such as fireball?

thanks

Hybrids do not work in this game very well. Classes like the W/M, R/M, and S/M you would think would be hybrids are not. W/M is a mage that wears cloth and uses a staff. R/M doesn't actually use any real magic attacks, and is completely physical. S/M is probably the closest you could get to a true hybrid, but it's not the kind of hybrid you're looking for. The reason all of this is true is that ROM is very gear-oriented. When you try to split your gear in half, half gearing for magic and half gearing for physical dps, you'll quickly realize that a half plus a half does not equal a whole. Your total damage will drop off the face of the planet. Wd/M are physical dps. They have a couple skills that COULD use magic gear, but to gear as a magic user for two or three meh skills is not worth giving up the physical side. Basically your fireball will suck, and the Wd/M has no added AOE damage than any other warden. K/M however is pretty cool. Knights got a reworking in the last patch so I'm not sure how they are now, they may be what you're looking for. OP = over powered.

Some light reading for you from the EU forums (not exactly on topic, but worth taking a look at with your thirst for knowledge about the game)

The best example of what you are looking for doesn't really exist in RoM in the full capacity that you played it in the other game.
Nothing does everything well in RoM. You're looking for "godmode" character.

Here are your options:
M/P: Heavy magic AoE damage, healing skills, No heavy armor. DPS/Solo combo.
W/M: Heavy Magic Single Target damage, No healing skills, Moderate Armor. DPS combo.
P/W: Low Physical DPS with Low AoE damage, Decent Healing, Moderate Armor. Solo/Healer combo.
W/P: Medium Physical DPS with AoE, Low healing skills, Moderate Armor. Support/Solo combo.
K/P: Hybrid AoE damage, Medium healing skills, Heavy Armor. Tank combo.
K/M: Magic AoE damage, No healing skills, Heavy Armor. Tank combo.
S/M: High Magic AoE damage, No Healing skills, Medium Armor. DPS/Support Combo.

Amongst other combos, these are ones that sort of caught my eye as being sustainable in solo play. There are a ton more combos, but generally, these are the overlooked ones because they are either OP or haven't really been played seriously in a long while. WD/D and K/P are essentially the same as far as how they work in combat. WD/D is a bit more heavy on Single Target DPS with some additional support skills, while K/P is heavier on the AoE damage and healing abilities.

I find (as many other) Wd/S being most easy class to work with. Chain armor gives you nice protection, and your pat can tank for you as well. Briar shield ensures that you can use this class as great gatherer, without worry that if you leave character for 5 min it will be killed close to mobs.

if this thread is still active, Id like to point out hybrid do exist, if you like warden to do magic damage, a Wd/d is the next thing you have. Wd/d on a mage gear can do extreme dps, it can also tank and heal.. its a perfect hybrid combination.. here is a video of my wd/d tanking, dps-ing and healing.

Second this..

I am 2/3 geared (no accessory set at all) and still do up to 600K damage on mobs as Wd/D with mage gear. Being able to self heal means that you are much harder to get killed and thanks to having pet as tank, you can easily PvE...
