Please make scouts a ranged class again

Currently scouts have lower ranged and lower damage general skills than the mage, rogue, priest and druid general skills when using a crossbow. When using a bow it is closer but still lower. The whole purpose of being a scout is to do ranged DPS but since the last crossbow nerf the range of the scout has been so far reduced that all other ranged classes can out distance the scout's crossbow and at least equal the bow.
This makes the scout class useless as a secondary class. A rogue secondary can throw a rock and do far more damage, at a far greater range than a scout with the same gear. The same is true for other class secondary classes and their general skills.
What is the purpose of having a class dedicated to the use of the bow and crossbow, if the range and damage is lower than a rogue can throw a rock or a magic class's spells?

Zero hope for scouts.

Hasn't been a single word on them in ages. GG RoM scouts weren't the first class to suck, but they are the first class to be destroyed and abandoned forever.

What might be interesting and require little change, is to make crossbows the longest range skill/damage w/e you call it out there. All the sudden a skilled scout becomes a threat cause he can hit you before you hit him.

I remember when Scouts were the scum of the earth. Then chapter 3 and 'Scouts of Magic' happened, and now they're back to what they were like in ch2. Some exist, but they aren't as good as rogues. Let the other classes have their turn on the pedestal.

1) i am all for this...it's sad how rogues make better scouts than scouts...

2) rogues aren't on a pedestal, they are on top of the mountain...

3) it's sad when i can heal farther than i can shoot my xbow...

So here's a cool idea I just had:
Make higher disparity in weapon speed and damage for Bows and Crossbows.
(Keep in mind, Math is not my strong skill...)
Like for Crossbows, decrease weapon attack speed to like 6+ but increase damage by 75%.
For Bows, set bow speed at like 1 to 2 but keep the damage the same (maybe 15% increase to their current values).

Get rid of the coverall "Mastery of All Weapons Available!!!!" and give some specific boosts.

Using a crossbow grants your normal attacks to penetrate through 15% of your target's armor and increases your accuracy by 15%.
Using a bow grants you the ability to auto attack while moving and decreases the Focus use of Wind Arrows by 5.

Here's another idea:

Piercing Shot: Deals X damage to a single target and Y damage to enemies behind the target. If you are using a Crossbow, this skill will additionally deal damage to targets behind your current target. If you are using a Bow, your next skill used within 5 seconds will be a critical hit.

Target Area: If you are using a Bow, your Area of Effect damage skills deal an additional 0.3 x Dexterity damage. If you are using a Crossbow, Wind Arrows will cause the target to be pushed back by 20 for each critical hit you deal.

Snipe: Deals Z damage to a single target. If you are using a Crossbow, the critical hit rate of this skill will be increased by 25%. If you are using a Bow, damage dealt by this skill is decreased by 15% but it can be cast while moving.

Bow vs. Crossbow should really be about Mobility and Versatility vs. Power and Accuracy. Range should not be part of the equation of scouts really, as they should honestly have the highest range.

I left the game for a while, between chapter 3 and 5. Did Scouts' range get nerfed? If so, that sucks and needs to be brought back to where they belong. However, no, there was a point in time where Scout > Rogue. Entirety of chapter and and some of 4, if i recall?

yes, scouts got a little range nerf..and i am well aware of ch3, but rogues still weren't the worst dps...i mean tto say they have never really gotten any sort of nerf yet...(not that they need it)

in the state of the game atm, rogue > scout is all aspects, and even if the scout is better at something i forget, r/s can handle it...

Sorry to burst your bubble but the scouts got a huge nerf at the end of chapter 3, it cost them almost half of their dps. They lost the ability to stack buffs as all other classes can. The damage of all their weapons was cut. Their skills such as shoot and wind arrow had their damage cut by over half all their other skills were severely hurt but the weapon and other nerfs. Their ability to enhance their skills with dexterity was capped. Since then they have had a nerf every new chapter. The range nerf was just the latest in a long line of nerfs that have happened on a regular basis. Currently their range is lower than half the classes. Their damage is on a par with priests and druids.
Their has been a hatred of the Scout class that has resulted in the class being rendered almost useless. Short range, low damage, no real defense or defense skills and no healing or party buffs. It isn't that the class is being ignored but it is being hurt even worse on a regular basis even though it has major problems.

Scouts lost more than 2/3 of their damage since chapter 3 currently.

And probably all usability except for a s/r. 1 s/r for a 12 man to increase the rest of the rogues/warriors/wardens deeps.

Your original quote was " scouts got a little range nerf ". It completely ignored and downplayed everything that had happened since chapter 3. Your current statement is a far better assessment of the situation.

Either way scouts are worthless trash. Any player who wants to progress in the game would try scout, and immediately swap to their secondary/3rd class and move on.

Well there are class combinations worse than scout. The problem is that scout is currently not good at anything. and with any subclass.

Range fight - mage better both PvE and PvP, well even rouge is better now in range PvP not sure about R/M on PvE

Debuff - look at M/WL for example and scout is not intended to be a debuffer but DPS

Survivability - don't make me laugh

As for now scouts should get dex on patt multiplier 1.5-2.0, also Ranged Wep mastery should be increased to 50%. Suppose it would be enough, but maybe some more balance would be required.

i am a r/wd/s, and for siege i go s/wd... in bosses where i need mobility or be far from everyone else, i go s/wd over r/wd, like beth last boss. I just enjoy playing scout, if you don't like it, why don't you change class? lots of other useless class combos, and i have to say scout is not one of them.
Roxzincrazy r/wd/s/m 87/85/85/85 | Crazybr wd/d 85/63
Roxzin m/wl 85/70 | Roxzn ch/m/r/w 87/70/70/70

I love playing scout myself, I will probably never rerole it, but the only time I find myself playing scout is when we have an easy siege or a lower level instance, it feels like the class isn't viable at endgame. Yes, there are endgame scouts, but their endgame simply doesn't compete. Scouts were overpowered at one point, but that's no reason to nerf a class into the ground, that just isn't 'balance'. If nothing, at least give scouts what they deserve, what their title promises - range. A rogue is better at being a scout than a real scout, being able to throw a rock at about the same range as a crossbow can shoot whilst doing nearly incomparable damage just isn't right.

Scout isn't a useless class, but would we even notice if they were removed from the game? Their role as ranged dps can be fulfilled as other classes, they don't bring spells like Shadow Prison, Blasting Cyclone or Cleanse to a party, they are a ranged DPS role that might as well be fulfilled by a R/M spamming Throw and Combo Throw.

I agree, it makes me really sad to see the state in which scouts are. I would say they need to double most eps skills or double weapon mastery for all except s/wd :) they had it good;
r/m ATM is probably closest you get to how scout plays and be end game, though it's only true for mobs
Buff scouts plz!!!!!!

Our 80/80 Skill will increase our damage from Blood Arrow another 10%, but we will loose 25% of our health every second.

The main problem other than dps is range. Scouts should have a range of 300 for the crossbow and 275 for the bow. That would put them as a ranged class once again instead of having to spend in time in the killing zone of all the ranged classes before they can use their bows and crossbows. Right now they are a class that while some people insist it is not a melee class it is outdistanced by every other range. class.
Unless you can do damage with your regular skills at a longer range than a rock can be thrown ( about 220) you are a melee class
