Warden/Warrior build

Hi guys.

I have recently started playing Wd/W and I am truly having alot of fun with it. I want to know from any experienced Wd/W's what skills i should invest my TP in.

The ones I have maxed so far is:

Warden side: Charge Chop, Briar Shield, Power of the Wood Spirit, 2H-Weapon mastery, Natural Lifeline.

Warrior side: Slash, Brute Strength, 2H-weapon mastery, Blasting Cyclone and Battle Creed.

The stats that I am prioritizing is Stamina, Defence, Strength, Wisdom, Hp, Mp

So far this have worked very well for me, but I am only lvl 50/50 atm

Any advice or tips are welcome.

Thanks

Well if you are building tank and WD/W should be tank, than first question is if you want to make sobe DPS on bosses, if so than as for stats 3-4xSta/Patt rest Sta/Hp, if not 4xSta/Hp and 2xSta/Def should be fine. Of course all gear plate focusing little more on parry rate than other tanks.

As for skills all skills maxed to 50 first and than Charged Chop, Brial Shield, Frantic Briar, Double Chop, Beast Chop, Pulse Mastery, Cross Chop, Elven Guidance, Natural lifeline and Punch in that priority order.

From Warrior side all accessable from WD side to max.

For lvling I would go for max patt so str/patt str/sta sta/patt patt/hp etc... First skill to max every lvl should be Charged Chop fallowed by Double Chop, Briar Shield and Frantic Briar, but even leaving them on 50 should be fine if you can easily kill mobs, because of mana consumption. You should also try to run with oak walker, previously buffing it at least with your skills (Savage power, Power of the Oak, Berserk), so first cast buffs, than summon pet. Or if you have decent EQ just stay with Nature Crystal.

On endgame it is fun to play WD/W, but it is one of the most "talent eating class" (many skills should be maxed to 80). Also you can hold aggro, even with endgame companions, without spending too much on gear.

Excuse me for asking but why would one need all those skills if one can just spam Charge Chop?

CC is no GCD skill meaning you can use CC+CC+CC+CC and CC+something else+CC+something else+CC+something else+CC+something else in about same time. Also for tanking CC is not so good skill, as it doesn't have aggro multiplier meaning you can CC for 696% DPS and call it 696 aggro or Dobule Chop for 2x324% DPS and 2x324x5 aggro, pulse mastery for 638% DPS and 638x5 aggro etc.

For lvling maybe not so important for ini even not endgame or soloing something it is crucial, to take advantage form CC not having GCD.

Tyvm. So for levelling i can keep to my cc, but when i actually start tanking ill have to look into the aggro multiplier skills as weel as some hatred runes, any other advice?

Keep alive ;)

Well it all depends on EQ and of coruse cost of EQ you can go for you don't kill me with 4xsta/hp and 2xsta/def (or 3/3 can't decide myself) to I kill you with 4xsta/patt and 2xsta/hp and probably with proper tier/good stats be able to still tank w/o problems of being close to death.

As for boss rotation almost always you will start with cross chop and frantic briar (second skill without GCD) not necessary in that order. For the rest of the fight I would recommend DPS rotation (little lower aggro during first 10-15s, but later higher aggro and much higher DPS), so:
CC+BC+CC+PM+CC+DC+CC+Cross+CC+Slash - using of course first in rotation without CD and you have to remember to use frantic briar on CD, but also that some bosses tactic exclude using AoE at all (so no FB and Cross)

Also if you have good healer, equipment and did not go for "you not kill me" always use berserk on bosses. Without good EQ/healer it can be tricky, but you can use it along with coat of arms and extend higher def with elven guidance, but than you have to be sure, that you will not need extra survivability later during that boss fight. Also you will need 60.and 70 lvl elites essential for this class combination.

You can safely ignore putting anything into Elven Guidance -- UNTIL you get your level 60 elite skill Elf Blessing. Once that happens it becomes an immensely useful self-HoT you'll find yourself using constantly.

Movement Restriction tops out at level 50, but you definitely want it topped out for PvP. It's your "stop kiting so I can Charged Chop you" button.

But what about MP?

I see the HP/def HP/Sta, Sta/pa etc stats are important but how do i get my Mp up so that i can use my skills without running out of mp?

I Play Wd/W/S

Statting is a personal pref dont stat for wis at higher levels you wont need it.

I have a mix of WB chain gear (Belt/Pants/Sholders) statted 4x str/pa 2x Stam/pa
Plate gear (Helm/Boots/Chest) and VN set is a mix of Stam/hp Stam/def and Str/stam
WB PA ring and the old mem set earring statted 4x str/pa 2x str/pa
Wings Statted for Stam and Def.

Was Tanking KBN HM wearing old crim/glory statted GCH Plate set with no worries.

And for siege could switch back to my chain gear and smash stuff on w/wd or wd/s :D

BUt Im an odd ball most people stat every bit of gear exactly the same way (I did too, when I was mainlining wd/s)

For MP just use potions
Govinda P/W/K/M 100x4 :pump:
Wl/R/M/Ch 100x4 :borg:
Wd/W/S 100/100/100
W/M 100/100 Glass Cannon: oh gawd, not again :pinch: ... and numerous others Semi-retired :pillepalle:

I personally don't have any Wis or MP statted; I found that festooning my gear with Dauntless runes gives me an adequate MP supply (about 14k). I rarely run that down unless a boss fight takes a VERY long time, particularly since the tanking-oriented elite skills use much less MP than Charged Chop.

The place I most notice hurting for MP is when continuously grinding mobs, like we used to do while EoJ farming outside KBN. Ditching Charged Chop in favor of Double Chop and your rage-powered skills can help your endurance considerably, there.

Pets

Tyvm for all the replies.

Another thing i would like to know is about the pets. It looks like Oak is your tank pet and Walker your damage pet, is it worth leveling their skills?

Every pet skill should be eventually plussed to 50, as it will cost close to nothing, as for later lvling skill for DPS pet will not give nothing noticeable in therms of it's DPS, as for tanking the only reason is patt debuff on target (as far as I remember 13,2% on lvl 80), usually this debuff is not a big deal, so you can simply focus on other skills and lvl it up, as you will have free talent points. Still good to have this 50 lvl ;)

in regards to the mp issue, using potential/enlightenment runes solves that problem for short fights. As for longer fights, you can use some pots/food to help you out -- embrace of the muse and the crafted food that reduce mp cost as well as phirius potions go a long way.

As for pet skills, the return on damage per upgrade isn't great, but as peitroasp said already, lvl 50 costs very little. Upgrading punch on spirit of the oak is helpful too. With this in mind, keep all your passives upgraded as well, once they hit lvl 50 leave them there until your attack skills are maxed. Even with 250m tp on my warden I have yet to max Natural lifeline for example, but since upgrading it to lvl 50 doesn't cost much I have at least done that.

Max all skills that "cap" at 50, including the WARRIOR general ones -- I use berserk even when I am tanking. Keep double chop upgraded as well, it is actually the strongest hitting wd/w skill when both hits crit(when doing boss fights, the max hit of 1 double chop hit is more then half that of my max CC and it hits twice...).

Keep your other attack skills upgraded as well. As someone said before, your rotation for boss fights isn't CC, CC, CC, its CC, double chop, CC, beast chop/slash, CC, pulse master/slash, etc. because cc + 1 skill takes just over 1 second once you get used to doing it.

As for actual tanking/aggro skills, Double chop, beast chop, pulse mastery, frantic briar (when you have spirit of the oak out) all have 5x aggro multipliers, and Cross chop has 10x aggro multiplier (with spirit of the oak out). Regardless of whether you tank or dps, double chop is a must, but the others aren't high priority if you intend to play dps (though ofc upgrading them results in more damage output).

As for mana consumption I simply stick with embrace of the muse, exotic fruit pie and lvl 70 mana pot + in extremely long fight some phirius, still just to improve party DPS output, as at this stage of fight I can usually go away, because there is no way to outaggro me (excluding taunt). You can also leave up CC, Cross and FB, lowering both aggro and DPS, but using just potions should be fine. Also as long, as you have light pet probably not having single stat (including runes) with wisdom should be fine. That's the way I currently stat my DPS EQ (for tanking there will be same, but it's currently my last priority).

Wow tyvm. I am stuck in Crystalia atm as the main questline is broken. Tell me thorny vines (DOT) worth putting TP into?
I took it to 50 but it doesnt seem to make much of a difference, and how can i get my accuracy and crit hit rate up?
I see that i miss alot on normal mobs in MT

17

Monday, August 26th 2013, 11:33am

As for accuracy only logical way would be to lvl up your weapon lvl (under "V") and lvl up your char (if it's lower than mob lvl you will simply miss a lot), as for crit only by equipment. As for dot - not worth a single TP...

Thanks Pietro, as for accessories, amor, what is best for tank lets say level 75 to 80?

19

Monday, August 26th 2013, 4:29pm

As for accessories for survivability I would go for full aoth set, wb tank ring, and memo 80 lvl tank earring. For better DPS/aggro - 2 WB ring and 2 80 lvl memo earring+77 memo necklace or 1 80 lvl earring and 75+77 memo nec+ear (all DPS with crit).
For the rest plate KBN/Bethomia HM Set or WB plate sets (probably both) and rest from instance set. Plus DPS or tank WB cape. Also going with full instance set WB legs and some chain/plate belt.

I use the 3 piece memento accessory set (lvl 72 necklace, 75 ring/earring) for dps to increase crit rate/patk, with 1 proof of myth/wb parry ring and 1 ancient memento earring while tanking.

You don't need to worry too much about your patk while tanking because you do get the option of using berserk to increase it for more aggro, but the higher your base patk is the more berserk/savage power benefit you.

In terms of armor, there are A TON of options. You can go full chain armor and stat it pure hp/stam/def, or you can use all plate. Either way is effective -- plate gives you more survival due to parry rate while the chain gives you more aggro through crit rate. You could mix sets/armor type if you felt so inclined. Imo parry rate from plate really isn't all that necessary in pve, as I never say "zomg if only i parried more often I would have survived that!". Many wd/s for example have tanked in full chain gear so its already tried and true method of gearing.

Personally, i use dps accessory with plate armors. I like the parry for pvp/sw cuz its fun to see "wound attack hits xamd, parry reduces damage to 5542" x3
