i am new to the whole "knight" experience and was wondering if anyone could help me understand how to hold aggro and what buffs/pots to use. any advice/criticism is welcome :) would like it if you could only list the ones that stack :)

It kind of depends on what your build is.

Generally... Get housemaid pot, get a pet that increases aggro, add hatred to your weapon...

Use hatred strike, wws and 90% of the builds spam holy strike

Try to get your group to give you a 10 second count to generate aggro before they really start dps'ing

Like i said, without knowing your build, this is pretty generic advice

i ll speak from a generic point of view, not pointing directly to specific knight combos

- burn pots
- aggro pot: if the mem one (rage potion; cheap one from hos/sjf), it shares cd with crit pot (potion of annihilation). cannot confirm atm about the crafted one (purified stimulating scent) if shares cd, but gives 5% more aggro
- stimulant: attack speed. strong in serious battles (25%), simple one as cheap version (15%). never use the mem one (frenzy pot), it shares cd with crit pot
- crit pot: potion of annihilation, 600 crit. 650 if crafted version.
- parry pot: mem pot (dont remember name) 600 parry, the cheap one. does not share cd with any pot. 850 parry the 78 crafted one (too expensive, not recommend)
- housemaid aggro pot: good for trash. 10% aggro boost. u can live without it if your group plays correctly. at my old times, it got deleted after u used threaten, so it was only for trash clean. idk what now

- instruments
- lute and tambo; lute always first priority; just do the math

- food
- defense and patt food. not much more to say

- weap runes
- hatred and raid as a-must-runes

- aggro skills
- explosion something: the old hatred strike. use as prebuff before rush. boosts ur aggro by 50% at max i think. and gives some mana blabla
- threaten: ur first skill at boss fight. no matter if has seals or not. 115% boost i think, meaning more than double aggro. refresh when up. always. no excuse. 8sec cd and instantly refreshable
- whirlwind shield: aoe aggro skill. use on single target too always. x10 multiplier. use whenever up and given u have threaten up
- shield truth bah: it meant to be aoe, but it single target. x10 multiplier if explosion is up. long cd. use at initial burst mainly
- holy strike: spammable. x2.5 multiplier

- just to get the aggro-concept:
- crafted aggro pot: 25%
- hatred rune X on hd: 54%
- explosion skill at 80: 50%
- threaten at 50: 115%
- WWS: x10 mult

rush at boss and use threaten and WWS after: u hit for "A" dmg and teh aggro u generate is
1.25*1.54*1.5*2.15*10*A=62 A
this means u hit for 10k and generate aggro equal to more than 1/2 a million, 620k. i hope that helps.

good luck. cheers from a retired knight

ps: some numbers may not be 100% correct. is just to show the concept

Also as a side note: as a K/P, try to use holy smite with 4 seals on a boss whenever you feel comfortable with your current aggro or whenever you see a major drop in health. This helps heal you and your party whenever you can pull it off. Aggro shouldn't be too much of an issue with around 35 to 40k unbuffed patt either

k/p has one of the best aggro skills in the game... it's pretty much +50% aggro :D

Put holy protection on everyone in the party including yourself.

HP is -25% aggro on other players & +25% aggro on yourself as well as giving yourself +25% pdef/mdef

would be good but the players that i run with dont even have a recon rune :/ and if they do i only have seen them with recon V

bai... HP is not a recon rune, it's one of your elite skills:

[Holy Protection] :
PLV = 1:
Reduces inflicted aggro by 2% and increases Physical and Magical defenses by 2% for 900 seconds. If you cast it on yourself, it will increase the inflicted aggro by 2%.
(The maximum level of this skill is 50.)

w/ hatred X, that should give you almost 100% aggro increase over everyone else in the party.

You need to make sure you are placing Holy Protection on everyone in the party & keep that buff up
