R/W weaponry

So Im sure this question is somewhere else, so feel free to link me. Otherwise, how do yall feel about weaponry for R/W? If anyone is willing, compare Dual Daggers vs Dual Axes vs MH Dagger OH Axe?

I believe Slash can replace Shadowstab so I still get the bleed to follow through with Low Blow - Wound Atk, maybe dual axes? Advice anyone? :)

I play W/R with dual-axes so when I switch to R/W, I just use the same axes.

It's really just down to whichever you prefer, I think. I've seen R/W with daggers and I've seen them with one dagger and one axe.

IIRC slash bleed DOES NOT work with low blow. You need to use shadowstab, sneak attack, or blind spot to get the grevious wound from lowblow.

While not playing a r/w, I heard from somoene who used to that daggers were far superior then axes. Not sure why, perhaps because of the above.

My suggestion: Go to Xaviera, Inferno Gardens and beat up ogest. First confirm or disprove the first statement. If slash bleed DOES NOT work with lowblow and/or wound attack, then clearly daggers are your best option. If however, it does work, then test rotation on the boss itself with vendor or low lvl, untiered daggers. Using the same rotation on him multiple times should give you a good idea of what's better (i would wager axes since you get a tiny bit of crit from them).

i think the speed of daggers is why some prefer daggers over axes.

ive never seen my rage bar even build when playing my r/w to even use the rage skills.

there a trick to that?

unless they changed it, slash bleed DOES trigger grevious wound, and adds to WA...

For me as a W/K, I build rage easily enough by hitting "Attack" fairly early in my opening rotation, usually just after I hit Surprise Attack. This brings me nicely into the damage range of anything and thus I build rage.

Okok.. Before I go to Xaveria and try it out. (Im just starting over with R/W on US server, I have R/M on EU server so I dont think I can go to Xaveria just yet lol) .. Can I/we have confirmation on whether Slash contributes to LB and WA? If it does, I believe I may go with dual axes. Until then, I think Im gona go MH Dagger, OH Axe lol

When playing as R/W daggers are preferred or if you want Dagger in main and axe in off for weapon conservation. The main reason for this is you will find that your weapon skill for axe while on rogue is not that high, and you will end up missing (more often than you will like) on your attacks when fighting same or higher level opponents. That being said, when on the opposite class, W/R, you want an axe in main hand, but a good dagger will still work.

Most helpful Auros! Thank you! :) I think I will simply just go with 2H daggers as I am accustomed to lol Thanks!

if I remember correctly, back when I was playing r/w; daggers were always better. The biggest reason was that all of the dagger have a higher dps than axes. (and all damage skills are % mainhand dps ) The other reasons I think have been mentioned, sometimes hard to hit due to low level mastery, not able to get WA 3 hits from slash, no bleed from sneak attack/blind spot etc.

Of course it matters which weapon you can get, but on a level playing field, the axe usually has more DPS than the dagger (there are exceptions). Sometimes by only a little bit, but it's there. Examples being Lekani's Protection with 1139 DPS against Shint's with 1109 DPS, or Lanaik's Strength with 910 DPS vs a Tia's Spike with 883. One other bonus for axes is the price, if you buy on the AH; since they are not in as much demand you can usually get an OD axe for a fair price, while OD daggers are very expensive.

Hmm I've got to argue with you on this one. Shint's is actually higher (1243) despite what runesdatabase says. Tia's is an exception though, but it wasn't the highest weapon of that release (Jugglers vs Performance). Axes are cheaper though, so if you want to go that route, it has it's benefits.

And, Thorn of Yawaka was a clear exception as it had no axe counterpart. From what I recall, I look at the new weapons and the difference is not that great. RDB has not been updated so I cannot check from work. All that being said, my W/R uses two axes. I had a Dim Light for switching to when on R/W but sold it, much to my regret, when i started noticing how often my R/W misses while wielding an axe. If the OP intends on playing his R/W as main then definitely go the dagger route. For some reason though i find the W/R to be more 'fun'.
