I have run into one in seige. And it was dressed in mage gear. And, yes it was deadly.

from theoretical math, it shud be out-dpsing any mage(except m/wd) during burn, and has better sustained damage as well.

I see all the potential with long term fights due to the level 60 elite, but where would all the extra burn damage come from that would make it comparable to most mage's burns?

EA hits harder than flame ATM. bring both down to .5 sec cast, EA > flame.

that and the fact that d/r gets 100% crit rate for 15 sec.
my r/p can outdps r/m. your name is stupid.

mages should stack dex. word.

Had a guy on my server who tried it with his mage gear, the result with a tier 12 wand and tier 9 hammer from dreamland was less then m/w in burst, this was only in beth and world bosses however. The dark moon crit buff though is really nice! :D

I got one, 85/60/70 d/r/wd , EA indeed is very strong and all, but druids have no mdam or matt buff. The only burn cooldown they have is their 5 min, which is not near what a m/w has for burn(berserk, catalysis,Intensification, 70 elite, mdam from rage mana). no way a d/r can outburst a m/w. maybe in a very long fight, but not in a burn. Although they are really good and fun to play in siege, off heals here and there are always welcome ^^. For instances they are awesome, as healers. seeds, rockslide for crit debuff , speed catalysis and druid's soso heals + another good priest or druid should do it.

If m/w (and possibly m/wd) are the only mages that out dps d/r, it would have to be by a wide margin to make up for the crit resist and pdef/mdef debuffs, and the dark moon buff for me to count d/r out.

With that said, how was the dps itself? Just b/c m/w can beat it doesn't mean its not potentially viable o.o

Rox, if you could post some numbers. I was curious about this build, specifically in the harder instances, where other magic classes are only criting 1/3 of the time VS 100% criting of the d/r.

Is there a better build for this class combo, seeing that you can build it without adding crit rate to it? Adding more matt would be the ideal, but I do not thing there is gear that gives more matt in place of crit rate, but healing may be possible and potentially making it one of the better hybrid classes.

If mages are only critting 1/3 of the time, they aren't geared properly. You want/need 6.5k+ crit even on mage. Most bosses have lower mdef compared to pdef, so your mages should be critting roughyl the same percentage of the time as your physical classes,.

But more importantly, I also request screens. Would LOVE to see how d/r compares with the 100% crit rate as mentioned above.

As for gearing, you can use the vn set (not recommended for mages due to low crit in grotto), and try to max damage. So belathis pants, proof sets or grotto set, w/e gives more dmg. And there are some mage items that are int/matk vs int/crit like rings and earrings -- on those pieces you would pick the int/matk ones assuming your boss fights are all short duration burns.

based on the other videos by that player, n particular the ones in beth, their entire group isn't that well geared. Not to mention that the d/r wasn't dual wielding (which they should be). still, could server as reference, but i would love to see vids or screens from awell geared one.

Sorry, won't be able to help on that, my druid is healer geared, got d/r just for questing. Played a bit with some mage gear I had, but what it has doesn't reach anywhere near any hm instance. Yeah, i'd say they might be viable, but mostly b/c of the debuffs. Flames can proc outburst too, wich is another bonus not mentioned on my previous post. Another thing is that I'm not sure if they can go down to .5 EA, never tried with guitar though. And about the gear Aríes, there are a cape and shoulders that, at t7 provide 4k matt ghost stat, and no crit, which might be the way to go on d/r dps. + normal/crafted 4 piece set bonus for more matt, lacking on crit that way.

Well in that video the d/r is only 84 butt everyone else is 85, which can have an impact. I've come back to the game again and a friend says it's not viable, but I disagree. I think that going with all matk and mdmg gear would potentially put it near the top of magical dps

150K crits during full burn seems very unimpressive, but I don't really know the gear setup or anything else other than what I can see from the video, which isn't much.

The burn actually seemed impressive in that he could keep up with both a W/m and a R/m, but the problem that I see is post-burn; after the initial burn the DPS just took a nose dive- HARD. That's a bit concerning in longer fights (I stopped watching after the D/r fell about 3 mil DPS behind after burn).

you also have to remember that each hit hits 2x.

We have to give the D/R some leeway, he was not pure dps during the fight. He held his own with the W/M, while debuffing the boss and dropping 8k Hots , 79k - 110k heals. We knew that after burn his DPS would drop, but it was not through the floor. That's a nice little package.

Well, after watching it again, it definitely does appear that he is doing way more than just dps. It would be great to know what type of gear it was, since it could be interesting to mix in some healer gear with mage

Hmmm after seeing this thread I was going to make a wand + offhand weap to mess around with D/r using my mage gear but due to the new content I do not think I will make wand + oh weap for d/r just yet.

Tried soloing grotto easy first as d/r with mage gear + staff just for kicks

~oh and my Earth arrow and other "dps" related skill/buffs are NOT maxed currently

I forgot the dark dmg buff DOH :dash:

I just don't see a D/R being able to overcome the 22% ma, 27.4% magic damage, 29% crit damage, and tons of extra int that M/W achieves during burns. That's actually pretty impressive, 500K crits on each hit in Grotto easy, but in a hardmode the crazy amounts of magic attack that a M/W gets I think will make it better.
