I said it before I will say it again...put the raid runes in the bow/xbow!. We all agree chap 3 buff stacking was over kill. Cool...but now to single out a class and tell them EVERY other class can have accuracy and speed runes in their weapons but not scout? Fix the class!

Where did you ever get the crazy idea that they want they Scout class to be playable????? They like it the way it is broken and unplayable. Posts like this just make them happier. They know the Scout class is broken, they broke it themselves and want it to stay that way. Everything is working exactly they way they want it to work.

Or, they have no idea how classes work at RW. Programmers are actually poorly paid in Taiwan, so more programmers switch jobs pretty often. Its very likely that whoever is programming right now know less about these classes than we do.

Ranged Classes

I just noticed that Cike's latest "Scout" thread got closed. This is sad to see. Let me elaborate. I feel that Cike comes on here to start threads because he is passionate about the class. He would like to see Scouts become a viable class. Please tell me what is wrong with this? Some of you come here and complain that he is constantly doing Scout threads, but what else is he supposed to do? It isnt fair for anyone come here and troll him about this until a GM closes his thread.

I understand his frustration, Scout Class is an option for everyone and it would be nice to be able to choose this class and enjoy the game to the fullest potential as any other class. Personally I am getting really sick of the unbalance that remains in this game, that is what I think is getting old, not Cike's posts. I feel frustrated all the time as a Mage/Scout when I look at the scrut of the OVERPOWERED classes and have started to question myself if this game is even worth it for me anymore. Mages and I do NOT mean W/M are great in PVP , but they struggle to keep up in PVE. I have spent thousands of dollars, yes I said thousands, on my M/S and I feel like I am banging my head against a wall just to keep up and be able to run instances.

I truly believe that the "unbalance" of the classes needs to be looked at and some changes should be made. It would benefit everyone in the long run if all the classes were more close in DPS or even if Crowd Control was an option for Mages, which it definitely isnt at present. It is becoming very apparent to me that it is almost as pointless to become a mage as it is a scout. Sure I could reroll to something else or choose another class to play, but do I want to start spending a ton of money doing this after spending thousands on my M/S, NO I most definitely do not. Would I continue to spend on my M/S to maintain her and keep improving her, YES most definitely!!

Just my thoughts for the day, please don't chew my head off :D

never fear, i have exchanged some words with aqua, and we may be adjusting some of the scout forums, including unarchiving and merging threads, as well as locking/archiving the less informative ones. (mostly depending on what aqua/other mods want to do).

for those sick of the thread spamming: this is for you. i am trying to maintain the information and suggestions in the scout forums while keeping it to minimal threads.

however, this may or may not change, depending on how much the mods want to do the work i make :P. i mean, it can't be any more work than monitoring all the drama in all the scout threads, now can it ^.^

back to scout related discussion: runes:

the fact that raid, curse and accuracy cannot be imbedded in ranged weapons even further nerfs the scout(as was stated above). while scout get less of a dps boost from attack speed buffs, a raid with the current damage formula is still more dps than without a raid in the bow period.

accuracy is a lesser issues (i mean, we are a dex/PA-based class after all), which actually makes it even more confusing as to why they aren't allowed in ranged weapons. same with curse. scout dps would increase by fractions of a % if they allowed curses in bows. heck, how many scouts besides me would even think of putting a curse or acc. rune in their bow? however, this does not really justify excluding them...

For what it's worth, I also appreciate the passion Cike has put into his class. Gameforge would be wise to compile all his ideas, the crazy and the good ones and they have a fix. As one that has followed Cike's threads longer than most of these mods have been here, (excluding Kalvan who lives forever) He has refined his ideas over time into some darn good ones. I hope Cike you continue your efforts, however fruitless they seem. Some day if scouts are fixed properly, You will get full credit in many peoples eyes and the game will be better for it.

+1
It seems to me that Cike and other players invested in the Scout class have to post threads about Scouts regularly to ensure Runewaker gets consistent reminders that there are issues with this class the community wants to see addressed. I read from the GM post (on the other thread) that GF just forwards feedback from the forums. I'm taking that to mean that if no one posts feedback regularly about unresolved issues, then GF won't take up the torch on their behalf...the issue will just be "forgotten." If it truly bothers either GF or Runewaker that there's so many threads on this topic, then the solution is to properly address it. Or GF has to proactively remind Runewaker of these issues themselves without waiting for community feedback. I didn't see any indication that they would do this though.

Doesn't bother me to see threads about valid concerns. Imo, carry on Cike.

i'm just gonna clarify something: don't bash the mods for saying what they did. when i talked to aqua and a couple other people, they were fine with bringing scout issues to the front burner every now and then. they, however, are dealing with people who are complaining to them about how the scout forums have gotten too spammy. in short: it's not the mods, it's the other users that are sick of the scout subforum. stop yelling at the mods, yell at the people who come to scout forum to either complain about spamming or just troll. i would just tell them to ignore the scout subforum then(it is an actual forum feature), but whatever, i'm not a mod :P

looking back, i have some ideas on how to improve the scout forums, without making them too "spammy". i will discuss them with a mod whenever i can grab their attention.

mods can delete this and my previous post(with my blessing) if they feel they are off-topic and such...

I don't think it's a mod issue or a player issue, I think it's a concern with the feedback system. In every forum and game I've worked with the weekly reports summarize feedback and suggestions with some links included where necessary. It's concise and organized and it keeps the community engaged with the developers. For the most part that works great, but if it depends on the community reposting the same concerns over and over as a reminder of what the issues are, then I think that fuels the "spammy" feeling people have mentioned. Ideally there shouldn't be a need for reposts. Once staff know what the issues are and what the community is looking for, they could keep after those issues between themselves and the developers without having to wait for the community to remind them. That would take some pressure off the players and keep things organized forum-side. That's my suggestion from my professional perspective. (Maybe GF already does this, I just haven't seen them mention it if they do. Two thumbs up if they are!)

The people who complain that the Scout forums are too much spam are probably the same ones who want to keep the Scouts nerfed. They are protecting the huge advantages their own classes have over Scouts. They figure that if they can get the Scout threads closed they can keep the Scout class from being ever fixed. If a player doesn't want to read a thread about Scouts they don't have to, but to complain about it only shows their wish that the class go away forever and no one to ever be a Scout.
The fix the Scout threads have been been going on for years with the net result of the class being nerfed even more. Every patch and new area only makes the difference greater. Most requests have been for simple and easily implemented fixes most of which only undo the nerfs that have taken place after the great nerf. From dps to range to speed and survivability everything about the Scout class has major problems now.
The only way players have to complain about the direct refusal of the past few years to fix the Scout class is to create the ignored threads begging for a fix. Now it appears that is being nerfed too.
I believe that GMs have brought this issue to GF and RW many times they have said so in the forums often. However they have been completely ignored. It is the old story, Stop complaining about how much I kick you, but I am going to keep kicking you.

Gameforge: Hey RW, scouts are broken. Buff their damage, fix their skills.
Google translated later...
Hey RW, R/M are broken. Buff their damage, fix their skills.
RW proceeds to scrap all the old R/M elites and made the epic ones we see now.

as much as i hate to say this, can we keep this thread on the topic of scout and the damage formula? i really wouldn't want to see this one closed, as out of all the scout threads, this is (in my opinion) the single most important one.

cike

will it helps Scout class, if, instead of changing the damage formula, might be too much work for RW/GF , that all boxs/xbows simply get thei damage increased ? to match with other classes?

it is kinda like a band-aid. sure, it would work, but it would have to be balanced very carefully, especially since "buffed damage" is increased a whole lot less than other classes(lots of speed buffs). their burn DPS will have to be lower while post-burn is higher than most classes if they were balanced "correctly" without fixing the formula...

i agree with jo7 that RW will not even bother o changing the game mechanics, unfortunately

however, an increase in the mastery from 20% currently to 50% will provide an increase of 25% overall dmg boost (1.5/1.2=1.25) compared to current.

although this might not solve the problem of scouts themselves, it is a still viable and easy-to-implement option for RW, considering the looong time it takes to "fix" things

There have been many suggestions over the past several years of how to easily fix the Scout class and many of they have been easy to implement. The question is "Why hasn't been done?" The only answer that I have ever seen is that there are people in power who don't want the class fixed or playable. That is not going to change.
