New Best Rune Combination For M/W

So, we have a new rune to use for Mages.

So the big question is:

Which rune do I currently sacrifice to give me the maximum gain from the NEW rune.

The current 4 rune combination for a M/W for me is:

Advance X
Sage IX
Madness IX
Destruction IX

I ran some numbers to see which rune you should replace for the maximum boost and I have come up with the following results (see attached photos)

**Side Note**

All values are using Judge VIII

As you see from the photos in the top half of the values, obviously the smallest amount of change comes from switching out Sages and Advances, so we immediately rule those out.

So the next question is, do we switch out Madness or Destructions?

Taking out Madness nets you more of a boost to MATTK, but taking out Destruction nets you 62.4 LESS Base MATTK, but a larger boost in INT (116.4)

So, what do we do?

Well the whole thinking these days is more MATTK is better.

BUT, as you can see from the BOTTOM half of my spreadsheet (as see from the increase past just Hero Pot in photo #2), adding buffs to your INT, will eventually overtake the end value of the MATTK. Meaning that if we remove the Destruction, we get the biggest bang for our buck when we're running instances buffed with anything more than a Hero Potion (over 25%)

So, replacing Destruction IX's with Judge VIII's on all 14 pieces of gear nets me a base value of about 6753.6 more MATTK, and 2402.4 more INT.

Thoughts?

I was already thinking just this. I still have to decide if I am putting money in the game any longer at this point, so I am still teeter-tottering on what to do. It is not important the reason why I am thinking this. But like many players I know, the increase in stats might just not be worth putting more into the game.

This is what I was thinking for the best combination already, so it is good that it confirms what I thought and I am glad you did the work to prove it!

Thank you

Just some input on these new runes... They are AWESOME ofc! Brought my I buffed matk up by a huge amount. However, mages, warriors, tanks, healers all got screwed over as the game favours rogues again who can use 2/3 of the new runes. Should have been int/matk, str/patk, Stam/def... Kind of just upgraded versions of the old runes, minus dex/patk since rogue gets basically the same patk from str as from dex, especially with the +20% str pots. Was also very unfair to healers as this have them 0 useful runes ^.^ just my opinion... Still love the new int/matk runes though :) now just a few piece to replace/restat with 90 stuff and then to wait for hall of chaos :D

K, drop int and str to 1.2 attack per then

I'd be super happy as a healer, don't have to spend anything at all

Rogue spend 2x

They can drop int to 1.2 when they give us a %DPS dmg formula instead of base damage. I'm not trying to compare the dynamics of classes here, this thread is about runes.

And that's a new complaint... though yes it would be nice not to have to spend money on new runes as a healer, think id still rather have the 'option' to upgrade runes or not.
