mage/warrior or warrior/mage

Sry for posting in two different forums because I asked this question in the warrior forums, but I figure it pertains to mages as well. I haven't played this game for quite some time so curious to know which is doing better dps wise. I have tried googling etc. and not really finding current info. If mage/warrior is the better of the two I wont worry about getting my warrior side above 70 for the time being.

As far as I can tell, M/W is better at burn than W/M. W/M is still viable for DPS though.

Only problem with M/W is that you need 2 sets of gear. Extra set of Str/stam on 8 pieces of gear + 5 accessories + wand/tali and wings = 96 more puris. If you buy them with diamonds at 19 diamonds per, that is 1824 dias, which is around $25 during a double diamond sale.

You only need 2 sets of gear if you plan to run endgame(PoM/HoE) Anything else you should be alright with if you dont have it(assuming there is m/wl in party)

Well, minus endgame, there's really no reason to worry about finding a class that can do good DPS.

I enjoy both of mine, I don't have a second set of gear and I would say M/W is better for a fast burn, W/M is better for longer fights.

Depending on the group you have would drive more what you would play.

Also to add w/m requires FAR less TPs to maximize the DPS than the M/W. Another good thing about W/M is being able to use two recons runes. This means you don't have to empty your wallet for a IX or X recon for burns. Instead I use 7/8 in wand and tali and then food and I pretty much hit the recon cap.


W/m is cheaper for maximizing DPS on TPs and on gear. Even if you don't look at the second set of gear.

However, I will add, play what you like more.

Like Cenre said M/W only needs Str/Stam set if you're going to Pillars of Morfan or Hall of Earth atm. You can easily buff over cap w/o it in Grotto and World bosses (except Mandara).

Difference in DPS between M/W and W/M is the length of the fights.

With the right debuffers, M/wl m/d and maxed druid seeds i think even mandara you would be fine without swap gear, she has 730k def only. Should be fine.

I'm currently 95/95/88 mage/priest/warrior. I was thinking about trying out mage/warrior but I know I'd have to re-allocate TP to do it effectively. What I'm trying to figure out is why previous conversations in this thread mention getting stam/HP set? Are there enough buffs on stam/HP for mage/war that make it more valuable than int/MA? Are there any posts with buffing order for M/W? Thanks.

It's that one skill that converts all your strength and stamina to intelligence. Stat swap gear with all Str/Stam, swap, cast, then swap back. Until they fix it the extra Int stays with you.

Not Sta/Hp.... Sta/Str. Reason for this is the 70 elite Wisdom and Bravery. It coverts Sta and Str into Int allowing M/W to get crazy high MAttack. Currently bugged in that the buff value is dependent on when the skill is used, and not a continuous gear check. This means a M/W can use the skill with their Sta/Str set, and then swap gear to their Int/MAtt set and still keep the values they got from the 1st set.

Holy crap... So you could have a full set with nothing but stam/str on it, buff that part, and switch to int set and retain that buff? Yeah, gonna be some pissed off mages when that goes away. With my track record, about the time I get setup to do that we'll see a nerf. Anyone want my timeframe as an advance warning?

I highly doubt its in runewakers top priorities to nerf this skill, technically its "working as intended" when there are many other bugs that are far more annoying, that doesn't mean it wont get nerfed, i would just assume its not going to be anytime soon.

There's no real reason to nerf it. M/w isn't even close to being the top dps class.

I vote for fixing it along with Shield of Discipline, essentially the same fix/change, then buffing the class if it's necessary for it to still be an endgame viable burn class.

Having to make an extra set of gear sucks.

W/m is way better in burn with right buffs and if you don't have money for swap gear sucks for you lol. Sike nah they should make intensification added mdam overall will fix mages and give my w/m it's 100% back so I can have a chance at being top dps.

if you are struggling as a w/m or m/w, I suspect that's something wrong with your play style. go check on the peeps in astral and then get back to me about how they need buffs.

Word you getting blacklisted to because your getting on my last nerves and can't read. I obviously said my w/m can out dps m/w it support group and they were saying remove burn gear so I said if that boost intensification
