Warrior/rouge why not

My 1st post, have been playing w/r its a fun class, it's not talked about as a op class. Seems to be good dps and brings a defense debuff for the party. My question is why not more people play this class combo ?

W/R is a super fun class yes it is, speed crazy! haha
and w/r was viable endgame before other classes got super buffed.. it just doesnt keep up anymore, but is still respectable, if you enjoy w/r, play w/r, i for one ( if you were geared enough and ready) would not hold you back from running with us just because your a w/r lol.

I mean its better than 75% of other classes imo rofl

That is the saddest thing about this game in my honest opinion.Like you, I have a class that I love to play, M/S, but because it is not considered OP dps I would not get invites to runs. People can't really play the class that they enjoy because the OP players will never invite you to any parties. I don't blame them really because with the cost to play this game at end-game no one wants to be dying over and over. It seems that GF or Runewalker or whoever is responsible for class balancing has given up on even trying to balance classes. I really wish they would, because it would be so nice to go on ROM and play what you wanted to play without being made to feel that your toon is garbage. I switch to W/M just to be able to run, I have gotten used to this class and enjoy it now, but given a choice I would definitely go back to M/S.

The reason that they will never balance the classes is because they can make far more profits by having overpowered classes. Then many people will gravitate to the overpowered class spending lots of real world money to complete their character to get invited to instances and do well in siege. They then nerf the class to oblivion as in the early Scout class and force everyone to leave the class if they want to play the whole game. So everyone who wants to get to play the game will have to spend more money to create a new character. Once enough people have entered the new overpowered class they then nerf it to oblivion or create an new over powered class by buffing it far too much.
The process has been repeated constantly. Each time earning huge profits.

Just play the class you enjoy and realize that even if you pick the best class combo it will not be on top long and you will have to spend a lot to create the new one. So you have the choice play the class you like and realized at times you will not be able to play the whole game or constantly create new characters and spend unlimited money to play the whole game at all times.

Yes, I know what they have done in the past and up to now it has worked, I mean people did switch to FOTM and stuff. However, they have done nothing at all for a long time now in terms of any form of balancing. It is extremely expensive at Level 87 or 90 to make a FOTM class so a lot of people have left the game for that reason. I know they have made a lot of money using that strategy but now at these levels they are gonna lose because people just cant afford it. If they balanced all the classes and forget about making one or two Overpowered, I bet more people would be inclined to come back and play again and probably get more new players as well.

Your suggestion to just play what you enjoy because the FOTM won't last long , I don't think is valid anymore for the simple fact that they have done NO class balancing in what seems like forever. I could just stick with my M/S but what would I do, aside from SW? I hate crafting and crafting is not the reason I like ROM. I love to run instances and get new things to stat and become stronger. I can't do anything if I just sit and wait for them to nerf a class and hopefully make my M/S more viable so I would get invited to run instances. That is why I leveled a Warrior and now play W/M, just so that I can still do what I enjoy and run stuff.

What happened to Scouts in Chapter 3 or 4 whenver it was they nerfed them to oblivian, was just soooo wrong and a lot of scouts that I played with back then just quit. They would still be waiting if your logic above was true. I spend a lot of money on this game and I really really would love to be able to play the class that I love to play. Sure I could just stop spending but I do like this game and while my W/M is still good DPS, I will continue to spend. If in the future they nerfed this and nothing happens to make my M/S any better then it be time to leave. I will not make another FOTM class because like I said it is wayyyy to expensive to bring a new class to Level 90 and gear it to run End Game.

I am of the mind that you can not and will not ever get to run current endgame content unless you submit to the meta of burn dps characters. Let's stop calling it flavor of the month because it's been almost 2 years now and the same overpowered classes are still the ones everybody has been using.

Personally it doesn't effect me that much because I actually get to play my favorite class and be effective too. Aside from scouts (which there is no point to talk about) my favorite class combo is the W/Wd - Wd/W combo which I recently decided to come back to after my stint as a Warmage and Mage/Warden. I've always loved Warden since I started playing it back in chapter 2, albeit it's much different now.

I feel for people who want to play classes that aren't in the meta and want to run endgame. In a perfect world we could play Scout/Rogues and Mage/Druids and go on runs.. but this game is far from perfect and it's not getting any better in the foreseeable future. If you wan't to run endgame, play a burn dps (R/M, M/W, Wd/W, W/Wd etc..) or a healer (D/x, P/K) or a viable tank combo (K/W and Wd/W are pretty much your only options there).

OR-- Be lucky enough to know people like Cerb who will (allegedly) take you on runs even on a sub-par class so long as you are geared enough.

Nothing for nothing, everything has a trade-off. With RoM, sometimes playing the combo you like won’t get you invited to end-game runs so you have to make a choice: play what you want and don’t do much at end game or play something that will get you invites even if you don’t like that combo as much. The choice is yours.

That said, IMO there is no real reason non-optimal combos shouldn't be able to run endgame instance at some level. In a previous post I suggested increasing the number of players for normal mode instances to 12-man instead of 6 with this in mind. This way you could bring enough burn dps combs to get the bosses down while still able to bring along that guildee who otherwise doesn't get invited. Got some great feedback on that, but sadly I don’t think it will ever go anywhere. Oh well, you never know until you try :)

Yes, your right , those are your 2 choices. Which is sad with so many fun classes in this game. Everyone SHOULD be able to choose the class they like to play and gear it and stat it to its fullest potential and after spending all that money , SHOULD be able to run END-GAME.

I think more people would play if there were not so many limitations as to the classes you can play. They need to go back and review this and fix this game so it is more enjoyable for everyone, not just for the certain GODLY classes. I know that there will always be a class that is better than others, which is fine, but the way it is now the gap between classes is way to big in terms of DPS.

Play the combo you love for siege and leveling.
Go fotm for instances.
Unless you're sieging guilds with all endgame PvP geared players; in that case go fotm too. But otherwise, at non-endgame siege, the difference between a fotm class and a non-fotm class is a lot smaller and most classes have a pretty good chance of killing each other.

I completely agree. Every single class in the game is viable for non-endgame content. If you have no aspirations to run endgame content at level then by all means play whatever you want.

As for siege, it depends. Pretty much what you said here, the caliber of players you face will determine whether or not you need to play the tankier OP classes.

And as for the above idea of making normal modes 12 mans, I would be completely ok with it as long as it still doesn't give the same rewards as hardmode.

Backing up what Cerb said we do bring under geared people on runs (sometimes very under geared) so they can gain gear/stats and grow. Also s/r and especially m/d can be crucial on runs because of the pdef or mdef reduction they put on bosses ;).

Allegedly!! rofl thx Mongo for vote of confidence!! lol

tbh nowadays you can 6 man almost every hardmode out there or with less, as long as you got all your buff alts lol, in my experience, theres usually always room for one or two people no matter what class they are, and sometimes there isnt, its always been luck of the draw, if your there at start of party you stand a chance, if not oh well.
There isnt much difference with all these buff alts than that of privy now lol sad to say.

Yea as I do agree ofc that balance would be nice. There is still opportunity to play endgame-near endgame content with classes that you simply enjoy over classes that are FOTM. I for example hate m/w. And will almost always opt out of coming to a run as m/w, sometimes its necessary, however most of the time I can play the classes I like in instances like m/s and m/wd ( Or world bosses). Afterall if you're not having fun whats the point of running anyway? :)

While I agree the balance still sucks in this game, at least we're to a point now where almost every class in the game has at least one viable combination. The only exceptions are really Warlocks and Scouts. Otherwise, while it may not be the secondary you'd like, there's one class combination for each primary that performs well.

We will never have complete balance. It's just never going to happen, but we're closer to it than we've ever been in the past.

Wl/m us useful for a mage party, and wl/r may be useful due to it being able to lower all resistances. Wl/ch is debatable magic dps.

Only for PvE though.
Imo, PvP was a lot more balanced before honor gear came about. Everyone was a oneshot, so being a fotm DPS didn't really make as much of a difference - you oneshot people with or without your OP CD's with 50% damage increase.

Nowadays though, against PvP geared fotms, unless you're playing a fotm DPS siege is like
>> hit opponent 20k
>> opponent hits you 200k.

Siege is so much more fun when we're all in PvE gear.

I appreciate the posts, but I want to run endgame and not as a carry through. Rouge side is level cap and have Mage too, just don't like playing rouge. What I really wondered if there was any fully stated w/r out there and if they can hold there own not too far behind a r/m dps. I don't have too be on top of scrut but not left out of runs due to the class I play

We had endgame geared w/r in guild. He did ~15kk damage per boss in PoM.

Once my Wd/W is fully statted i will be doing some testing with W/R because I did enjoy the class back in the early chapters of RoM (1&2).
