Mage statting for dummies

Hello everyone. It's Supaaninja and I have returned to the game.
My only problem at this point is regrearing. When I left the game I knew all the best stats and where they came from; two years later I dont know anything. Haha.
So if someone could please list the recommended stats for mage and where to get said stats that would be fantastic. Thank you very much.

Best level you can get your hands on 6/0 meaning all INT/MATK. If you're not comfortable with having 0 Stamina (other than plussing) in your gear use INT/STA and never STA/MATK.

AoE's have been % based for some time now. So no matter if you have 150k HP as a DPS or 90k HP full buffed you're still going to take a % hit. If anything adding more STA will make you more difficult to heal.

There are a few places ingame where I need to put on some Wings with STA/Max HP stats, but those are relatively cheap and easy to come by.

As a Mage/x or x/Mage class you get more magical attack from an INT/STA when fully buffed than a STA/MATK. And there's the INT multiplier, which makes more difference in PvP than it does in PvE and also depends on how much of your PvE gear you use.

Ahh I gotcha, ill probably got most int/mag att with int/stam on some pieces and have two sets of wings. Also, what are the exact stat name that you use? and where do you specifically get them?

Now there are Orange and Yellow stats. In the past Orange stats were Attribute/Attribute/Attribute stats e.g. INT/STA/WIS. Now they're just better version of their Yellow counterparts. Either Attribute/Attribute or Attribute/Atk with higher base values. Here's one of my pieces as a visual reference.

Your orange INT/Matk's are called Control of [X] and your yellows are now Illusion of [x].

Oranges come from last boss instance drops or Proof of Myth pulls. PoM's are obtained from downing certain World Bosses and some events during the year.

Your yellows come from instance loot or by pulling using in-game currencies such as Phirius Shells (from doing minigames) or Energy of Justice (zone event). EoJ's are basically farmable Shells tbh.

Don't confuse a Illusion XIII with a INT/MATK tho... never did understand why they did that >.<

(Illusion XIII is whats known as a bag stat, and the illusion version is int/mDEF)

Bag stats meaning the stats that can drop in a bag from killing mobs in the newer zones, sometimes a X/XI/XII/XIII stat inside, sometimes a crafting material.

Where as the stats magio has on his cape all come from instances/shell/eoj/Proof of myth pulls

Also worth noting about orange stats: A Orange Eons stat (level 90 stat) is the equivalent of a yellow stat that would come out at level 95. To put it simply, orange stats are two level caps ahead of the yellow versions.

this is because int/ma's use to be called Demons and illusion was int/mdef.

Right, but why counldn't they have switched the name of this one also to match the changes to the other int/matk names >.< a IX illusion and XII Illusion might not be the same stat then, but who even uses IX illusion (example)
