Advice For My Third Class

Please skip the following paragraph if you'd just like to get to the point of my topic. The second paragraph is most relevant.

Hello! I've just recently started playing again after being stuck without being able to reset my secondary password for years. I finally tried again and lo and behold, it worked! About 7 or 8 hours ago I made a new character, as I no longer feel invested in my old character despite significant cash shop investment from a long time ago. On this new character I intend to enjoy the game for what it is as much as possible without dipping into the cash shop, doing things such as taking all crafting and gathering to 20 before stressing about what to focus on, decorating my house, collecting titles and the like, and just enjoying the game, hunting down rare monsters and such as much as is feasible to do solo until I become more socially amenable. Since there is currently server maintenance, and I need to go to sleep for work anyway, I thought I might ask about my third class while I wait.

On my newest character I decided to go with the classic Human Knight/Warrior combo because the variety of armor and weapons appeals to me. For my third class however, I'm just not sure. I was leaning towards Scout since that would allow ranged weapons, complementing my reach of weapon types. I'm also curious about the psynergy of using a Priest or Mage though. Apparently Priest goes well with Knight for survivability and since I would like to solo as long as possible this is a good thing. I think Mage might be a bit more fun though. I have never played with a caster class however and haven't looked too deeply into them, so I am completely open to any advice that is given.

As far as role-playing, I'd like my character to be a worldly paragon, someone to whom others can always turn regardless of their dilemmas. This doesn't mean he is a sage who knows every mystery of the world, he's just someone who has been exposed to most every hurdle one can expect and has survived to tell the tale. To this end, I'll be working on crafting jobs much more than on my old character. I might also remake his appearance, I did like some of those bushy, wisdomy looking face-gardens. At the time I felt they made him look a bit older than I'd care for, but in the last couple of hours I am leaning the other way, though I'm not sure yet.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I've always liked this game and its world, I felt a bit distanced when I couldn't solo some of the instances even on my suped up character from ages back, but this time I won't stress about such things. Looking forward to some excellent advice! I am by no means experienced in the game in comparison to most anyone else, so this should be most enlightening.

If you want to try healing take priest, p/k is a very strong healing combo more so in siege then in dungeons though. if you want to solo stuff priest is not the best class as healers have very little solo potential and you rather do more damage then have sustain, i would say k/m is a good combo to solo stuff, it is a magic using class though, it is also good in siege. w/m and m/w combos are both strong magical combo for dungeons. If you go for scout you have the option of going w/s for dungeons, it's a top tier dps class if you have the right gear, not the best for soloing though. k/s is a very strong tanky combo in siege that provides a lot of crowd control for it's team, don't expect much damage from it though. So depending on what you aim to achieve just pick what you want.

priest = want to play healer, p/k is best sw healer, k/p more of a buffer then a viable pve class, w/p, p/w not really viable p/w can be fun to play though.
mage = want to play magical dps, k/m is sw oriented, m/w and w/m is runs oriented. m/k viable in siege.
scout = want to play physical dps, k/s is sw oriented, w/s is runs oriented. s/w is ok dps, s/k not so much.

k/p is a fun little combo, I was able to do quests I normally wouldn't have been able to as any other class combo it felt, you'll be durable but don't expect a lot until you get good gear in siege, but even then you'll be exploded by mages the most (in siege), so make sure to have Shield of Discipline maxed out and ready to be hit any second you see anyone or signs of anyone, however all you really are in siege is a stun locker and that's really about it, maybe heal yourself a little bit here and there, but again don't expect to actually be able to get many kills by yourself. I played this combo the most as it was fun, it just falls off late game too much imo :dead:

Pros of k/p
+good self buffs (defensive
+can heal self for a percentage (that's right a percentage of your health can be healed every 8 seconds with holy smite, just make sure to stack 4 holy seals on them or use the skill holy seal itself)
+good party defense buffs (defensive, and one offensive that can be over looked too easily imo)
+can somewhat stick to some targets in siege really well

Cons of k/p
-no damage what so ever, even a scout could out damage you before they were buffed, AND YOU'RE A MELEE CLASS
-agro tank and that's it, literally you bring nothing else to the table except what a cookie cutter tank would do in the field of tanking
-aoes are weak just like your damage output
-no damage, saying it again just to add emphasis on NO DAMAGE, so good luck trying to TP farm as well as timed kill quests

Thanks for the detailed replies and advice! I think I'll go with Mage as my third, it seems like it would add another element to my character that would be a lot of fun. I'm also not sure if I have the patience to level Priest right now. Now to get started on getting some elite skills. Thanks again!
