is there a diff between mage/warrior and warrior/mage

So i am looking at elite skills online to see what i want to do for a new toon and i was thinking of warrior/mage but the website i found displays elites only for mage/warrior . is there a interactive site where i can pick a primary and a secondary and see what the elites are going to be?

Im trying to make a battle mage that can possibly heal myself. But if not at least a warrior mage would be cool. Be a warrior that can cast fireball. booya

thanks

Both W/M and M/W are magic DPS but W/M is primarily white hit based (close up) and M/W is flame based. Both are VERY effective DPS with M/W beating out W/M only with a second set of buff gear. W/M, if properly played, is devastating in SW.
I don't support 1 Server. I just like the Anagram - GOAT GRIP!

dang. i like that. I was able to find some info on elites and i finally figured out what the other site was doing so i was able to find what i needed. Now its time to figure out if i want to be M/W or W/M haha

The gearing is similar but the combos are totally different playstyles. W/M is magical melee M/W is ranged.

From the sounds of your other thread, it seems you will do much better as w/m. It offers more suitability and sustained damage, where as m/w is super squishy and huge burst damage, but nothing much going for it after those 15 seconds. Both do fine just for questing.

really? not a warrior mage? Why is that:)

I know knights get plate but warriors get two handed axes haha. Ill have to look at knight skills vs warrior and see who deals more damage

do i have to tank if i am a kinght? I do not plan on raids to often but if i did, i dont want to have to always tank. i want to hit something and blow stuff up to haha

thanks

K/M would use a 2hd hammer or a 2hd sword and you are a damage dealer, not a tank. Though you could set yourself up either way. And, looking up the skills will not help because there is no mention of the K/M highest damage skill which is "Full Attack" which is its white hit follow on process damage. Go to the Knight forum and look up the Knight Mage and see what people say.

k/m and w/m have very similar playstyles, as both are afkdps. only difference is knight usually has more tankiness/utility than warrior, while warrior usually puts out higher dps.

all up to you though.

Not sure if anyone said this, but i noticed you said you wanted to wear heavy armour.

Both w/m and k/m are best wearing cloth gear.

No magical damage class/ combo that i know of uses anything other then cloth unless you want to make yourself weaker.

lol you mean that 12 sec of dps, I always start of strong and then as soon as rage mana runs out I just sit there watching myself drop further and further in the scrut.

At higher levels i almost never run out of mana, i cant remeber what its like at lower levels.

Best is use flame most the time, lighting to root and maybe fireball every now and then.

Other then that, you dont really use many skills.

I dont remember what level but there is a skill that lowers mana cost for x amount of time.

mana is a nonissue at higher levels unless you are doing stuff (skills/instance/boss) that has % mana costs.

in terms of early game, yeah, it sucks hard. there are some skills that, when leveling, you don't need to use. just stick to flame spam and you should be fairly well off with mana.

why flame? I have fireball and flame maxed out and fireball still does a ton more damage plus it is an instant cast and not 3 seconds.

my fireball does 294 + 30% INT fire damage whilst flame does 238. haha.

cast time modifiers. pretty soon flame /should/ be doing ~3x the damage fireball does.

i thought of that but i just lvled and flame only increses by 21 each upgrade whilst fireball is increasing by 30 points of damage each upgrade haha. At what lvl does flame overtake fireball?

and how do i get these cast time modifiers?

thanks

Don't go based on the damage listed under the skill.

At 85 my fireball says 2450 + .30xint and does 214k damage

My flame says 1960 damage at level 90 but does 600k damage.

The skill icon damage amount is not to be trusted, Please try using the skill in game and see the different from flame and fireball.

also depending on what server you are, if mithras, fell free to add me kingzamorak for any questions or help.

edit: cast modifier is hidden. just simply use flame and you will see.

cast time modifiers are on every magic skill that has a cast time. it simply multiplies the "base" calculated damage by whatever the cast time is, in seconds. instants have a cast time mod of 1, so an instant cast and a 1 second cast have the same modifier.
