low population?

Ive played this game on and off but it seems like this game never really has much of a population. I like mmo games because i like the idea of teaming up in dungeons or just going around finding monsters for exp farming, or going at it with a bunch of people in pvp but it seems like this game has little to no people playing, back when it first came out there was soem but now i use the battle interface and i never play a 6 vs 6 anymore, or a 3 vs 3, even 1vs1 almost never has anyone playing it. does it get better at higher levels? this game has plenty of instances, great pvp options but it really seems like this game has no one playing. whats going on?

Through a series of bad management decisions, they have run the player base off at a faster rate than any game I have ever seen. Back when they should have been focusing on marketing, customer retention, and quality of service they were trying to figure out how to make the customer support system so obnoxious that it cut down on tickets reported. Now the staff seems to be concerned enough to have changed their tactics but, having taken so long, I wonder whether it is too late to ultimately save those jobs and this game. It's a shame too given just how outstanding a game RoM really is.

Nobody uses arena. ROM is instance run/gear modification/siege focused game.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

And from what I've observed, a lot of people tend to sit in either Varanas or inside their houses and chat on vent. It seems to be the only thing people do now, except KBN easy. So there are quite a few people, its just that you usually don't see them unless you're in their guild.

If you're on Govinda, type /join world in chat. Most servers have a player-made world channel on their server, where you'll see a lot more players.

The population has dramatically diminished in the past two years, but there are still people playing. Arenas aren't used at all, and never have been as long as I've been playing. If you have any aspirations to run high end content, though, don't expect to unless you're in one of the few endgame guilds that exist on each server. PUGs don't happen anymore on Osha, probably in a large part due to a lot of the endgame population leaving in the past year. Maybe it's a bit different on Reni or Artemis, who I think have bigger populations than my server.

Also, if you play this game for PvP...you really have the wrong game, lol. It's a oneshotfest, whether it's in a duel, arena, or siege. I wouldn't call that fun or skilled PvP. There are far better games for it.

I used to be in arena all the time, but then they decided to screw that all up with some changes a while back. Some of those include: automatically closing the match if is isnt >80% full, making you immune for like 25 seconds after death, and having literally no way of getting a rogue out of hide unless u happen to have a scout or mage on your team (though that was always a problem).

Arena used to happen all the time with 3v3 6v6 and all that, but making matches autoclose pretty much single handedly killed it. Nowadays i might get a couple matches when it is close to siege and that's it.

True, but i seem to have problems 1 shotting those geared p/k, druids, wd/w who take 5 free hits, people with high defense/mdef (esp if being healed), people who are immune, etc. Yes, those who are undergeared get 1 shot a lot, but I only die in one hit if it's like chiron, flame, or an endgame rogue who snuck up on me. Strategy plays a big role when teams are involved.

It was asked if it gets better at higher levels... To some extent, yes. Pretty much every MMO I've played has been like this -- people level at different rates and start at different times, so the only place that a lot group together level-wise is at the high end.

Also, this game is smaller total population than some others have been historically. WoW and EverQuest at their respective peaks, for example. Still can find people though, if you look in the right places.

For PvP, siege war is about all there is. Join a guild that actively signs up for that if you're interested.
