Is GameForge selling gold now?

I ask this question because for the past 2 plus weeks I have logged in daily to see the same person in world chat advertising gold for sale. I logged on to another server and the same issue is there. I report him as a spammer and if I have to relog for any reason, he is back.

Unlikely.

We have the same issue on Indigo, aside from the randomly named spammers on Varanas Bridge, we have two regular world chat spammers. One of which is a player who hasn't played since end of Chapter III and most likely their account was compromised during the last wave of similar issues and seems to have a large stash of diamonds and/or megaphones. The second is a generic level 1 character who aside from at one point buying out all the diamonds on the AH had the tenacity to put up WTB Dias posts in world chat, all those megaphones aren't free afterall.

All I can say about this is that if this were my server or my source of income/Job/etc I think i would do alot more to try and protect them from outside sellers and hackers. To let this go on for as long as it has without so much as banning one gold seller is really bordering on total neglect. its no wonder ROM is last on Gameforges list of games now. Maybe they are hoping we will all just go away.

lucky u i cleaned my blist of them the other day thinking they had been killed by then and lo and behold reni has 6 i counted in world and i think the keep going up in number and can they like put a lvl cap on mega's or buying dia's XD would solve a good chunk of the world spammers

That would be a "no".

The "Report Spam" button essentially adds the selected person to your blacklist for the current game session. It gets removed when you relog. I think this was done since a number of people had either accidentally reported friends or guildies as spammers, or had done it to them as a joke, and they were either banned or silenced. And, permanently added to blacklists.

If you see what are thought to be "legitimate" characters spamming world chat with goldseller messages, report them to Support. Same for the usual level 1 zone chat gold spammers. That's the best way we can get them shut down at this time.

Shows to me that RoM is still vulnerable to hackers.....i always wondered how the gold sellers had so many megaphones, they hacked even their dias AND gold...anything they want literally with a RoM generator hack tool...the same that was used by the elusive inner circle. programs that are client based at times in their coding are very vulnerable..seems to be a trademark of runewalkers programing as his latest effort, produced by a different company, is again very vulnerable to hackers.

The only option gameforge has is to IP ban the hackers.....but many of these hackers are very skilled programmers living in a 3rd world depressed economy, so most likely we ill just see them back in a day or so.

Thank you for explaining why they keep coming back when I report them for spam. I really abhor the idea of having to window out to report people a Game Manager should be taking care of.

Honestly....

Then honestly, if legitimate people were getting banned for being Reported as Spam, RoM needed to do more research. I do remember one of my guildmates getting banned for 5 days because someone accidentally reported him as spam. No research was done, he was just outright banned.

If you disabled the functionality of the 'Report spam' button to not report spammers, then it either needs to be removed or it needs to be changed to 'Mark as Spammer' and a message then needs to say that you need to go to Support to report. I think everyone on Reni is using this button so it NEEDS to be changed. It's misleading people. Additionally, nothing is really being done about gold spammers. I reported one to Support quite a few days ago with no action being done. I cleaned out my blacklist of all the gold spammers I had put on Blacklist manually and one or two are still spamming.

@ Jguy:

If you log into one of your characters and then hit ESC, you'll see that the Report Spam button is now gone. That was done with the 6.0.1 patch. It was replaced with a Support button, which, if clicked, will tell you that you'll be taken to an external webpage. This is similar to when one is buying diamonds from GF while in-game.

It will start your designated web browser (or, if your browser is already running, bring it to focus and open a new tab) and take you to the Support website. At that time, you can log in (or create a Support account if you don't already have one) and allow you to review existing tickets or start a new one.
