Grotto of Horror Boss Strats

I just wanted to open this up and start it out and maybe help some people progress through this instance.

For pewpewkittens, we burn almost every boss, so using strats isn't a thing. I know that this isn't helpful, but hopefully with the culmination of my youtube fans comments and messages, aswell as the community members here, we can get solid strategies down for each boss.

I'll start amassing strategies tomorrow. Just wanted to shoot this out for the public so that maybe by the time I wake up tomorrow, there are already a few strategies on here from you guys.

This is how our runs look like in the instance. Again, no strategy involved. But what if someone can get some use out of it?

I have no real strategies, but here is what I've seen on easy mode runs. They were burn-style, so not a lot of chance to observe mechanic.

Boss #1) There are some kinds of chests spawning. Also if fight takes long enough, he seems to put at least one person in a box and I didn't see a way to get out of it (perhaps someone has to get me out, like Boro-Boro trap).

Boss #2) The adds that spawn didn't seem to be all that interested in coming to boss's aid, but they would attack people that come close. It might be their purpose is to limit the mobility of party.

Boss #3) He does not hit very hard, and on couple runs we burned him through his damage reduction. But as I understand it, it is supposed to be removed by killing adds, dragging boss to crystals that show up from dead adds and clicking on them to remove the damage reduction. I must say I like damage reduction more than I like Naylodas immunity.

Sorry, no strategies as such, but hopefully helps someone.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

From what we have gathered:
1st boss is simply dps until 40%. At that point it starts using a skill called Hate Mission or such. This skill gives him a buff that increases his damage for every stack. Easiest way to get around it is simply run away from the boss when he uses any cast skill and you take little damage. Not sure what the boxes are for yet. As for the cage, the person inside it can kill it with white hits (w/m - r/m - k/m etc op) or those from the outside can target it and break it similar to the bell on 3rd GCH. ~~ This boss can even be hard when you can burn it. Just serenstum once you see the boss casting Hate Mission and keep going, will have to dodge skills after that though if you hadnt downed it by then.

2nd boss is just strait dps really..as long as you drag the boss towards the entrance of the room away from all the adds that spawn, not only will the adds not hit many (if any) of your party but for some reason the boss's aoe cast skill hits less.

3rd boss is by far the best boss there (It has a strat!!! :D), though still really easy. Simply tank it and every now and then 2 pillars will spawn with a mob in it, kill both the mobs and click on both the pillars and the 90% reduction will disapear for a short duration, at which time you'll have to repeat.

4th boss is really hard unless you burn. From what we have seen, if you get some tornado on you, move away from other players otherwise you get hit for a % damage for all those around you. After a certain time the boss goes immune and it'll use a skill similar to the 1st boss Bela (1 hits everyone). This can be avoided by using damage reduction skills (magic) or serenstum. (wait 3-4 seconds after he goes immune before using seren)

5th . . . lets just say if you can't burn it then I very much doubt you'll have got past even 1st.

6th is interesting. Spawns pillars and some orb thingos that more around the room randomly. They do % damage to any near them. Boss casts a skill that places a massive sword above the tank, and after 2 seconds it slams into the ground damaging those it hits. Seems a lot like a simple dodge adds (pillars) and keep dpsing boss.

7th we dont really know anything about. Except that after a certain time boxes much the same as those from AC drop down and cause the boss to use Spirit Bomb and wipe everyone. lol.

This is all observations from Hard Mode and may or may not be correct ^.^
Cammo (82 M/82 W/82 R) 116,147 unbuffed Matk :D (95k pa - r/m)
Livia (82 P/77 K/75 S) wisdom O.o wtf is that...
~~ retired - Thanks to gameforge for that. ~~

Idk why people say you need to drag 3rd boss to pillars cause you don't. 1st boss when clicking chests you get some buffs. But idk what they do cause they dissapear quickly. Second boss my game is bugged so I crash every time adds spawn, but I've been told to use serenstumm when he casts salt something.3rd boss is just kill adds and click pillars. 4th seems to Nuke or be nuked. Serenstum seems to work at start. 5th.. Well if you can't nuke it just wow. 6th seems to be nuke whilst avoiding pillars. And 7th seems to be nuke and serenstum at 10%. Just my observations

7th Boss on HM does does do something terrible around 10% which killed us a few times. We finally just burned his last 10% so fast we didn't feel it.

Not sure why the adds aren't attacking you guys, buecause they were attacking us lol. We were fighting second boss at the entrance on Normal, but a few of the adds were still attacking us with AoE's and such. More adds will spawn as boss fight goes on, some near the entrance as well, so it seems like a burn before you get overwhelmed. Salt has short range and won't hit you if you run away from boss, but then you risk taking more damage from adds.

First Boss - Burn and avoid all Casts/AoEs, DPS cage whenever it spawns.
It seems we've had a couple issues with this boss "locking" players under him when he is first pulled. I think its some type of bug/glitch. Really annoying if the Tank gets "stuck" under boss or in a spawned chest.

Second Boss - Burn, avoid adds

Third Boss - Kill adds, click towers 1 second apart from each other (click too late or at same time, debuff may not come off,) Burn boss and repeat.

Fourth Boss - Burn, avoid players if you have a tornado on you, avoid other player's tornadoes if you see it around you. Don't think any Candy/Serenstum work on that. Holy Candle Shield does seem to help. If all else fails, phoenix redemption for the win.

Fifth Boss - Burn

Sixth Boss - Burn and avoid pillars

Seventh Boss - Burn

Good luck out there in Grotto.

Seventh boss has some kind of strat we can not figure out pertaining to those box adds. We tried many things yesterday because we were low on dps and tried to do strat. After 8 or so wipes we just got the dps to burn sadly but I think if the stat is found out many more people will be able to complete even in smaller groups. What we observed: Chest adds spawn and run to boss then BOOM spirit bomb most people dead. You can magic immune though it but it must happen more than once cause most people still die after immune wears off. This usually happens around 10% however on our attempt to fight the boss on the balcony the boss took a few seconds to walk over to us after a warden pull and boxes spawned and BOOM we all died with boss having well over 90% hp.
We had a few more ideas that we didnt try because of burn.

1. See if adds can be stunned. If you can prevent them from reaching boss maybe no spirit bomb
2. Boss has a buff that mentions attacking his friends. Maybe when adds spawn you don't attack boss or don't attack adds though aoe's ect.
