PVP damage

Scale it down, please.

If they cut it in half it'd be perfect.

But I think also when a rogue goes in hide, 10s after going out of hide the next hit should do half damage too.

The critical damage calculation (for PvP) has been in need of a change ever since they released +12 and HoS+ gear became mainstream. It made players damage quite a lot higher (in PvP) without a comparable defense increase. I remember actually being able to compete as a p/s in PvP which became pretty much impossible from the release of chapter three onward.

The only real balancing they did in PvP was when they reduced the length of time your roots held a player for vs. a mob. This was good as endgame mages could no longer root rogues out of combat until their death. (It did however reduce the fun in walking around naked on my lvl 50 PvP mage rooting nubs but whatever haha).

The actual damage calculation for PvP has not changed since closed beta and is in dire need of an overhaul. It will be difficult to eliminate the gear based inequalities without removing the gears influence entierly, as this is a gear based game. But I think an effort can be made to reduce the magnitude of some advantages. Critical damage needs to be looked at, as well as the effect of buffs on players PvP damage. Damage needs to be reduced, but evenly across the board, and not too much. I dont want to spend 10 minutes trying to take out my opponents 20k hp, exhausting all my pots etc. Priests/druids also need to be taken into account, as a reduction in damage will only increase their survivability in a battle.

Hopefully FA/Runewaker are working on something because I have not seen changes to PvP mentioned anywhere.

He's not asking for a nerf to player damage overall, the change would be strictly related to the PvP damage formula.

Passive buffs upon entering siege -

+50% crit resist (can be upgraded from home towers)
Foods are disabled
Deserts are disabled
Potions are disabled
-25% damage from all players
-10% physical damage
-10% magical damage
Pets are disabled

L2 play class. Not L2 use gold.

Just think... no more spamming low blow :D just think... no more one shot fire balls :D just think... no more rogues popping out of hide and taking out a whole army :D just think... Knights be invincible!

Well yeah, but at the same time, everyone would be shrugging off most of their attacks.

So it'd be cool: you'd actually have to pick what class in a group youw ant to go after first instead of just going through and trying to one shot everyone.

Um yeah, it is.

If a Scout and a Rogue, both equally geared, face each other, whoever gets off the first shot will win, because both are so squishy.

If it cost $Y to stat a full set of pve/pvp gear. Than RW creates seperate sets for pvp and pve, in theory frogster could reduce the price to stat your gear so that it now cost $W to stat pve gear and $Z to stat pvp gear, where $W + $Z = $Y

There is a vendor that sells gear that has a modifier that reduces damage from players only. Its in the game, they just need to make it easily available to all at the same time they permanently lower the cost of diamonds.

I know crazy concept or idea, but has anyone even considered the PvP gear in OS? I realize it is out dated, but if developers brought it up to the new levels and stats, PvP would be a 100% different game all together.

Back in Ch2 this gear was the cat's meow for PvP as it offers crit resistance and special abilities to get the wearer out of CCs etc. Someone linked the other day a piece of lvl 65 gear that *looked* like it might be part of a new set of PvP gear as it had a lot of resistance on it which is only typical in PvP gear. So hopefully we will see an update set of pvp gear available.

I remember when that PvP gear was released, it was nice, but not many players had it. If they released a more easily accessible set at level 65 or 70 for PvP players that would be a great addition. BUT in order for that to work the gear must be worthwhile restating and better than instance gear for PvP. Otherwise players will simply retain their instance gear and it will be a useless addition.

If the gear was tagged as "not dropped on PK death" and provided some useful ghost bonuses, it would be adopted mainstream.

I still believe however that they should change the underlying damage calculation as well, because with these sets PvP will remain very gear based.

There's your problem, you think that gear should give a huge advantage over strategy. This is not fair to the skilled individual capable of maximizing the talents of their class combination. Didn't Sun Tzu say that all wars are won by trickery?

Also, I have not been one-shotted in a very long time.

Get rid of foods/pots/pets

you be suprised what a difference that alone would make.

This means no more immunes with candy to take a crystal at the last second, no more 100k+ hits , no more /k with egg rice, choch cake, EA running around barely getting touched be other players, no more p/k with 150k hp taking a whole party to kill, no more invis pots, no more Phonix redemption, no more 2 pets per player making it near impossible to tab target someone ;)

oh and get rid of EA :)

But if u are nerfing everyone damage in pvp then you MUST nerf heals as well.

a P/k are very hard to kill in pvp atm unless you can outdamage there heals, if u nerf the damage and not the heals they will be impossible to kill.

same with /k classes and there EA ;)

It simply costs too much to make another set of full PVP gear on top of whatever PVE gear you have. It's fine in other MMOs, but for ROM, it wouldn't work out. Everyone already complains about the price of getting geared.. you want to do it twice?

If Frogster ever did lower the prices of the Item Shop, then yeah two sets is cool.. but I don't see it happening

is just make a dmg calculation for pvp is really sad go fully buff and be one shot for a mage or a rogue and get pvp gear is no a solution, no now with the dia price in the heaven.
Reduce the dmg in players and the critical dmg too because are alot of ppl with 70%+ critical rate dont change that just only reduce the dmg from critical to 10% or a max 25% just in pvp
