Its been amazing to me how we used to say "Yeh siege is broken, no big deal." But then when its totally unplayable it becomes the straw that will break the camel's back. It never worked, people always cheated, there was always lag. So what, really, is new about this other than "its worse than bad, its broke."

"What slows down stabs
alone or in jabs,
and even your neighbor bogs?
What's great for a snack, (break)
And gets on your back?
It's lag, lag, lag

It's lag, it's lag,
It's big, it's heavy, it could.
It's lag, it's lag, it's better than bad, it's good."

Everyone wants to lag
You're gonna love it, lag
Come on and get your lag
Everyone needs some lag
lag lag lag"

Since the EU & US siege servers are now identical & the EU server does not have the lag problem it is obvious that the problem at the US server is either hardware failure or incompetent configuration. Runewacker has no need to code a fix.

I recall reading that they have lag issue(s) as well.

Why is siege so laggy? It's in beta
Why does siege crash so often? It's in beta
Why aren't the classes balanced in siege? It's in beta
When will siege be fixed? It's in beta
Will we ever get a proper answer? It's in beta

Yea did some reading around and EU and Aus are having issues with siege. So the question is Is siege perfect but the publishers like using windows 95 PC's for servers, Servers are great but RW is incompitent or Just maybe Both RW and the publisher suck?

One of the first things I learned back when I started coding was always make sure you have a working program before you make changes. This gives you a fall back position when the inevitable flub happens. When the move was made from California to Florida all settings from California should have been left alone. Get the servers up and running then make changes later. Instead they put the EU settings on forgetting how many times the program had received bandaids in the past.

We could just get the England download at next server maintenance which should eliminate the US bandaids allowing EU siege to be enabled here but what do I know?

My solution for FEU: Re-hire the person you fired who used to know how everything was run... Let him/her work on it again, but this time with one of your staff paying attention. Then, if you want to fire them, go ahead... If they were dumb enough to join up again, instead of insisting on coming back as a consultant at 10x their original wage, you've won!

Would you come back if they fire you???

Lost of knowledge is very evident, not just in siege...

Perhaps Roeksha or someone else from Frogster would be so kind as to give us an update on what efforts have been made to fix siege?

We are starting to lose players and guild members as a result of this continued problem.

I have an active Aus account so I just logged on & asked in zone about siege.

Judging from the answers I received, the lag on the Aus siege server is more like the lag we had before the server move & not at all like the lag we are now experiencing. It's 1:15 am there so maybe its not the best time to be asking but everyone I talked with complained about lag & crashes but none had the misfortune to experience the 20 minute in lag lock that we now suffer.

I know there are people that post here that are also active in the EU game & forums.
Maybe one of those people can give us a definate answer about the state of the EU siege & tell us if they are experiencing the exact same lag symtoms we are having to suffer.

Siege a few weeks was ago ranged from good to tolerable, now it's flat out unplayable.

I merged these two threads.

Please try to post in existing threads if the topic you want to discuss does match.

As for input about the current situation with Siege Wars, I will have to ask you until someone from QA can give us an update :)

Since when was there ever a QA department in frogster?
How about you find out the information regarding who is running the servers and not go through some bureaucratic process that will NEVER provide us with accurate information.

If I remember correctly, FrogsterEU always had QA department, FrogsterUS might not have publicised it had one but there is always someone who has the information and they send all enquires that can be answered to that person.

From what I understand about basic networking and how servers are run. The server is controlled by a technician remotely from the EU.

IIRC, FA did not need QA, it was outsourced by FEU, main company.

That is really not that important at the moment.

At the moment I can fully understand what Swag meant when he said that we don't know how many papers to fill, meetings to attend and doors to open just to get us Owenstein at the time.

As there is no person as Swag anymore and everything is rather procedural (report to QA, they will take couple meetings to 'guess' what's wrong and try to fix it with next maintenance) I am really worried that will take long time to fix/accomplish anything here.

If business continues like this, I wonder how many players will be there to test it... (because there is no test server or test population if they have server) and worst - how many maintenance until it get's fixed.

Last night in my alts guild siege, we had 1 rogue that seemed immune to fear always. The problem is, it was pointless to fraps it because nothing is done to those players and it was very possible that lag was causing that to happen. Even with 4 fear towers on him and 2 electrics all upgraded, he was never interrupted or feared while he continued to attack our gate. After a couple minutes he finally died from the damage caused by the towers.

Our videos were being ignored before this severe lag. Now that they have the lag to blame, probably even fly hackers would not be banned because they would just chalk it up as lag issues.

I saw this guy always immune to fear the entire siege and I was not lagging. Yet, even I can't prove he was hacking because of the lag.

If you ask me looks more like they use Beta as an excuse to get away with it. If they wanted it out of beta they could have. To them, this is the last stage. They just keep the beta thing so they can use it as an excuse when it is not working.

What part of our game not working? where? Oh sw, naw that is in beta it is fine. <--excuse!!!

Why is TERA so <insert question here> : It's new!
Why is RoM's <insert feature here> so <insert issue here> : It's beta!
Why has Frogster gone through so many employees recently : Payroll is beta!
Why is there a time sync issue between the server/siege server? : Time is a beta function. It was removed so addons like Watches and Calendars could no longer be exploited.

Total Lag

SW used to be a fun thing to do with your guild at the end of the day, a way for the guild to truly reconnect and prove their strength. But with the recent lags across multiple servers, SW has stopped being any fun at all. My Guild, Noctuserus, began experiencing a lag 20 minutes in tonight. Said lag drastically altered the results of the war, as the other guild was apparently not lagging at all. I respectfully request that the makers of the game address this issue.

Awesome... siege is still laggy beyond playability. Got kicked from siege several times... did not crash, I was kicked from the battlefield. Then siege ran over a full 2 minutes before my entire guild got kicked with NO rewards, although the ranking shows we won. After the FIVE HOUR maintenance on 1/31 many of us figured the siege issues had been addressed. Obviously this is not so, and serves to illustrate one point very clearly: despite all the lip service we are given by the CMs, the powers that be obviously don't care in the slightest about their player base. Well I for one will not be spending another cent on this game, and I regret having spent as much as I have. If this siege issue isn't fixed soon, I'm done with RoM, despite all the hours and money I've poured into my toon. At some point you have to realize a bad investment and simply cut your losses. Write that down.

So....after the lag hit...about 35 minutes in...relogging a bunch of times (NOT letting the sw crash you out, but actually closing the client and restarting it) seemed to fix the lag in sw for the most part.

When you open back up and try to enter sw, everything disappears, don't fret. Close the client and reopen again. I did this 3-4 times and poof, for the most part, the lag was gone and I was able to rejoin the sw with minimal client lag. Was even able to turn the battle around from 8-2 to 6-4.
