Currently only 14-16 guilds seem to be getting into siege which I find odd as we all sign up yet some get preferential treatment? Don't understand that at all I thought we all played the game equally, but that is apparently not the case. I hope a representative can explain why some guilds are given preferential treatment while others are ignored.
I also noticed the ping rates on the servers go haywire at different times, but at siege times they stay higher than normal. My avg ping is 63, but for the hour of siege it shoots to a steady 300+ I have been told by the IT guys at my workplace that happens when the bandwith is stressed beyond it's capacity. I was also told that would account for the excessive lag. I am not a network tech but those guys are 24/7 network maint people they provide network service for 60+ million users with voip and cable internet in over 20 states. IDK bout you but I think they understand the issue. Obviously, the new provider cannot handle the increase in traffic or have it throttled down to a contracted minimum rating. I cannot speculate on the contract between the service provider and the game licensee, but I would say one or the other has left out important information about server requirements or capabilities. That or someone is getting shortchanged in the deal. I hope this information helps clarify some issues for some and enlightens us all as to the preferential Siege treatment.
Another issue of the SW being down is the loss of ability to get Badges of the Trial for titles or purchases of Pet items. Will there be a system implemented to achieve these titles or badges in another way since SW is in beta (broken)? I don't understand why a beta (broken) part of the game would be so inextricably tied to the functioning part of the game (ie titles or a requirement for purchasing pet items unavailable anywhere else in the game) basically making the game itself beta in total? An explanation without a ban would be appreciated.

I don't believe that this is true - you might think that based on the fact that some guilds are "Winning" their seiges each night - but what is really happening is that one member (just 1) from some guilds are getting in. We've had 1 guildie (different one each night) make it into seige for the past two nights and participate in a one on none situation.

We have no idea why one gets in while the rest don't - Seige is broken and I hope Runewalker fixes it fast because many players enjoy it despite the beta challenges it has under normal circumstances.

After experiencing additional problems outside of RoM I discovered I had a defective modem. Perhaps this was the problem.

Perhaps some accomodation can be made - since Frogster doesn't have a test server, decide on a server (or let the servers vote on who wants to be the guinea pig) that can be used as a testbed. Make a system backup of the characters and their information on that server (as a golden image, so to speak, for rollback purposes just in case), and let people know what you're going to do some testing to find out what's wrong with Siege.

Change kernel settings, configuration of services, network settings, reboots, OS patches, whatever. Validate hardware, disk caching (funny story about disk caching on an RS6000/S80 and an SSA array, another time though), network bandwidth, paging, you name it. The idea is to get us on board to assist with fixing it - if RoM in other areas (namely, non EU and US areas where ROM is out, either in areas that have IP blocks or people are running it as Radiant Arcana) aren't having the problem, why?

We want siege to work. Frogster, YOU want siege to work - because like it or not, I would suggest that a large section of the RoM population plays for Siege. If it has long term significant problems such as this, it will affect your bottom line of diamond purchases, and all the good intentions in the world won't save the game.

Siege 9 Feb 2012

On the bright side, Siege's autokicktologin feature worked perfectly for 100% of our guild today.

If siege isnt going to work can we have a heads up

I mean if we know it isnt gonna work there is no need to worry about registerring or popping potions, or delaying instance runs to get ready for it. If it is something where we know it is down then ok, let us know. Since the programmers probably arent working on the weekends, it would be nice to have a heads up to at least let us not waste our time. I think it is a slight courtesy

It's not going to be fixed until next weekly maintenance probably. Unless you see a ninja fix update posted on website.

Please understand these are really complex issues, as a player myself I understand the whole "fix it now!" mentality, But its not a matter of simply flipping a switch, and as I said before, several solutions have been attempted so far regarding the server related issues but to no avail. this is true and i am not complaining about it not working, nor am i saying anything about how long it will take to fix.....

Just a comment about the problem an acceptance of an issue and a dedication to fix it. I think 3 nights in a row is an unofficial "it is broken wait till a mait till it is fixed"... Just would be nice for an official one.

I agree...maybe shutting down the sign ups until they know its fixed would be a solution.

They said they wont shut it down because then they can't study what is wrong, in other words, we are their test dummies, even tho they did say we weren't.

Considering the length of this thread, the difficulty finding information one has seen within this lengthy thread, the changed title of this thread & the threads growing age.

IMHO, it is definately time for a new thread as this one seems to be heading in the direction of damage control. Most who posted here were posting in regards to the 20 minutes into siege lag lock widely referred to simply as lag.

Few if any posters were actually concerned about the "Beta" in Siege Wars name & surely "other issues" belong in other threads.

I have one thing that i want to ask. Since, by definition, a product being in beta blatantly states that there is a continual adding of features and correcting errors related to those new features as well as improving things for that product alone. I don't recall ANYTHING new added to Siege that wasn't gamewide.... EVER. Can anyone else recall or a moderator cite a patch pointing to an update and correction of Siege War specific bug in at least the past year? This excludes anything that was a change for the rest of the game as well, just a change that affected how SW performed, and features within not found anywhere else in the game.

Cuz if no one else can find it, then this whole perpetual beta crap is a legal loophole. I mean, there should be a Siege War(BETA) specific forum for improvement and feedback FROM THE DEV'S, not forum moderators. Otherwise, it's not a beta test, it's an excuse.

Different item that should have had its own thread and gets lost here.... Many people do not even look at stickies anymore. The other one deals with website revamp and should have been un-stickied long ago.
