Lol.

People don't really use the forums all that much in this game, especially the PvP ones.

Open PvP - used to be a lot more fun when I played - now it is very short lived because the PvP damage to HP/defense ratio is very bad. Makes it pretty boring, plus not very many people PvP anymore.

Siege - there is some strategy there but it is again short lived. People have a lot of fun in siege (when its not lagging) so its worth trying.

Honestly, I hardly play because I find the open world PvP a lot less exciting now compared to the early days of this game. I do not siege all that much. I'd suggest giving the game a try though - it does have some good aspects.

I don't play anymore but I read/comment on the forums now and then, waiting for something to entice me to come back.

The back bone of RoM is Group mechanics (tank/healer/dps) designed for instances and gear modding. So when it does come to PvP, it is typically dominated by the favored dps of the current chapter and whoever spends the most time or money.

The level matching on RoM has some pretty big jumps. If you sign up for the pvp games the lvl categories are lvl 1-14, 15-29, and then lvl 30 to current max level (atm is lvl 70). So you could be a lvl 40 facing and end-game geared lvl 70 toon and that gets pretty one-sided fast. The ability to twink/overgear lower lvl toons also means some imbalanced fights at the lower levels.

There is 1v1, 3v3, 6v6, several small group games and races, and guild battles (which are a huge favorite of RoM players). As well there are the PvP servers with smaller population and PK mode on the PvE servers but I believe it is seldom used.

Basically the core game mechanics weren't designed with PvP in mind and so RoM struggles a bit in that area. Much more fun if you are into group play and raid tactics on bosses.

I don't know anything about WoW pvp, so I can't comment there.

It's about as refined as a smartphone hand built by a blind chimpanzee. What they try to pass off as pvp in this game is not pvp at all. Like someone mentioned above, more a quick draw contest. Except there is no contest. Just the dead and the ones not.

When someone can mash 1 button, or in some cases press it once and win the duel.. that should tell you something right there.

Gear rules all in this game. Skill has been out the window since before I quit playing. The best PVP you'll find in this game will be at lower levels where the gear isn't OP. Only then you will see a person's true skill, and not how fast they can mash a button.

This is why i personally favor the 1-29 or 30-39 brackets in pvp...lots more fun than the last one

Yes, I agree with that. That is ONLY because they haven't implemented the 90% damage reduction yet. Right now it's only 50% so a 400k low blow in PvE would be a 200k low blow in PvP. It'll be a lot better but then again if you're poor geared 30k hp level 70, the KO will come as quick as before.
