Maybe someone can explain....

For the 3rd night in a row, my guild, which is small but stays fairly steady in our ratings range, has faced guilds that should be WAY higher in points, one of these guilds even admitted in SW that they had thrown the last 4 just to get down to that range.

My question is Why?? I mean what is there to gain?? Isn't the idea of SW to enter and do your best to win all the battles you get involved in??

With the new SW reward system it makes no sense to be throwing away wins, or even ties now. Other than being Cowards and/or Bullies, I can't think of any reason to be voluntarily loosing just to get some easy wins.

It is an exploit, commonly referred to as Shadow Guilding, Ghost Guilding, etc.

Not even relatively close to an exploit. Make sure you properly use the right word before you deem something as an exploit.

Its looked down upon, nothing else.

It may not be an exploit but it IS shameful behavior & whether it carries the official >Exploit< tag or not, it is exploiting the siege rankings to gain an unfair advantage over honest players.

Shame!!

best way to explain it is the entiere setup is a "merc guild"

by this i mean that in general they will have anywhere from 2-4 dummy guild set up and they will sign up for siege every night in all the guilds. this way they are almost always guarenteed to win since they should be ranked significantly higher, and can do it every night by simply switching to one of the other guilds.

the reason for the other guilds is so that they always have a low ranking, and there for always go against easy win guilds

Wrong term. Not "merc guild", but "Shadow Guild" or "Ghost Guild" or "Fake Guild" or "Exploit Guild".

But yeah, you have got the correct idea of what they are doing, to exploit the weaker guilds.

Its just a common thing lately in SW. I think its funny, seeing my guild take on another guild and in their bio it says they are a member of an entirely different guild. Its like lets see what PPK's "b" squad can do....lol

Its "easy mode" siege.

But hey, some guilds arnt cut out to handle normal or hard mode.

Its really nothing more than a crutch for guilds who have an inability to work together in order to achieve an acceptable number of victories against equally geared opponents. A handicap usually associated with groups of individuals with massive egos who cant effectively work as a team.

The Badge of the Trial that are awarded in siege are used to get the guild titles. The guild titles have the attribute bonuses and some special skills, ie Fire Training. The max badges per a siege are 15, which requires first in all three catagories(defense, offense, logistics) and to win the siege. To get all the titles, it would requires just over a year of winning every siege AND placing first in order to get the 15 badges per.

I do not defend shadow guilding as its unfair to lower lvl/gear guilds and people that actually want to play the game. I just look at siege that even when I lose, I still get three badges, some guild resources to contribute, and some junk gear to sell for gold.
