I'll gladly watch you place all 30 of your faces just to run up and thunderstorm them once and be satisfied with myself for a week

By the time that they put up 30 treaches if they had a scroll the gate would be down, to me this just seems sort of like a solo strategy more than anything else so you don't need more than one person to take down a gate in a timely matter.

I truely found this amusing to watch. Acet and his guildies were focused on protecting one tower, and apparently thought that they could easily overpower a guild with one well geared rogue that thought it was amusing to be rude about siege deaths each time he accumilated one. When we took out there procs with relative ease all he did was qq though the rest of seige. Trying to found out how a group of people could have outsmarted him with ease. Remember there is no "I" in team and that's what siege is about. Maybe more disussions of team effort and not relying on one person to be the sole savior should be a goal from this standpoint. But congrats Condemned for using teamwork to crush a ego and obtain your "Glorious Victory Packages and Badges" And legally too ^^ ~Mastensdad

im not sure how often someone dies in siege for you, but it's pretty often in my guild, not to mention the load of noobs running around the castle, making them available to check gates. is it that hard to adapt your strategy to compensate for one person taking a minute to lay down the treaches and another 2-3 for the gate to go down? if you're facing a guild with like 5 spare people to farm merits just to treach a gate, then thats a different issue. I dont see how this is a whole lot different than how siege was before when bleeds worked and gates go down in 30sec -1min. with treaches you have way more time to pay attention instead of blindly resing and running thru the front gate without looking around or designating a couple people to be readily aware of it. like a mage up top just said.. one tstorm takes out treaches like theyre not even there. and on healer with cds can heal gates 1% per second without much trouble.

I'm not defending anyone who doesn't watch their gates lol, I'm just looking at it from the point of "where would it really be useful" and my only thought to where it would be is if you already have a scroll or you're the herald, the max that a tornado can take out on a gate is 80% throw up some treaches bash the gate a bit and you're in the only other reason why I'd think this strategy would actually be useful is if you're low on crystals.

Haha yeah I get that for sure. This just makes me think about how easy it is to kill treaches now and wonder if it took entire parties to clear them back in the day xD

OH and yeah.. I say treaches when referring to "faces" might be a pvp thing. I know I've seen people call mementos "mentos" while we all just say "mems."

I dont see this issue with faces as an issue at all. But under certain circumstances it can be. I just want damage reduction lol

I do not consider the treaches taking down the gates an exploit, but after seeing how much damage just 3 of them were doing, I have to say that it should be changed, but until then...rogues are back on gate duty.

The guild we faced tonight did this, I'm guessing they got their inspiration from this thread. I gladly T-Stormed and took out all of them as soon as they finished setting them up. :D

I did it tonight and it worked real fast. I did feel a little bit bad, but, this thread is here and everyone is talking about it and everyone should start taking countermeasures - the only difference between this and rogue doing it with bleeds is that treaches do not require high level toon to use them

Yup this post actually helped neutralize any threat. We should all be watching our gates anyway!

Yes. It's an exploit. I would feel no satisfaction if my guild were to win; using this exploit. IMO.

No. See below.

So it's not supposed to happen then right? Damage dealt by faces is not supposed to hit the gates?

No.
For multiple obvious reasons.

Agreed, every time we face said player, said player spouts obscenties while killing..from now on I'm using fraps on the OP in order to report it, it is extremely offensive and immature.

normally I'd probably be against something like this but standing at a gate all day isnt very fun. Siege was much more intense when gates could be ripped down so fast and easily.

Yeah i was worry about this until tonight we siege a guild that do this glich/xploid/bug (?) on our gates like 3 o 4 times, we win the siege taking the gates down with scrolls and taking the process down but im sure i will see more guilds with this glich/xploid/bug abuse. Hope this get fix soon.

At the same time, there are no official responses in either direction, exploit or not. Honestly, I think people are taking a rather liberal definition on what constitutes an exploit.

The most common definition of "exploit" is: to make the best use of.

So, by that definition, yes they are exploiting it. Should it be frowned upon? Not at all. Just stop it before it happens, or look at yourselves for being so oblivious to your castle.

All I can think to say to that is...... yup .... Until something is actually officially stated, I can't say it is or is not an exploit. Like in my previous posts, I have never seen one actually do any dmg. So that lead me to the belief it could be an exploit due to an unintended reaction to gates. BUT it was proven that they indeed do have a small dmg component but it is a hang over from a fix they did for something else. So by that statement I can't tell if that means the dmg component was unintentional or intentional. Then there is the statement that there seems to be a multiplication effect when one is placed next to another. Rather than the dmg from one adding to the other it is multiplying the dmg of both. But then to top it all off, all those statements were followed by, "this is my opinion", so where does that leave this matter? We know even less than we did before and so can neither say it is or is not an exploit.
