The most common definition of "exploit" is: to make the best use of.

So, by that definition, yes they are exploiting it. Should it be frowned upon? Not at all. Just stop it before it happens, or look at yourselves for being so oblivious to your castle.

HAHAHAHA! I bet the people that are charged with exploiting child labor love your definition..... I mean if you really want to get down to definitions you could have said,

Exploit: a striking or notable deed; feat; spirited or heroic act

That's actually the most common definition of the word, but it is not the ONLY definition especially as pertaining to its use here in this subject.

Im waiting for the army of champions that swap gear to their 6x sta/str statted gear and burn your gate down with a stamina scroll. In b4 the "thats an exploit" QQ.

Tbh i dont think its an exploit or whatever you wanna call it. I personally have always planted FoT's near or on top of their gates with an invisable tower. Then i would farm the players that would step outside of the gate, easy kills :P I would only use this move while on rogue, just made my job easier. I never noticed before that they did dmg to the gates so if Rubewaker make a coding mistake, which could be a HUGE possiability, then why not use it. Its not a hack or anything illegal that the player is doing. Ppl are simply taking advantage of Rubewaker's coding and using FoT's as a siege weapon. If you dont defend your gates and towers you will lose plain and simple and if u allow a rogue to stand there and plant FoT's at you gates then you my friend deserve to have your gate taken down.

So it's not supposed to happen then right? Damage dealt by faces is not supposed to hit the gates?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No.
For multiple obvious reasons.
What reasons? Because it kills a gate so quickly and is a completely legitimate tactic? No one complained about this until dot's stopped stacking on gates, the same way no one complained about Ice Blade or being one shot by a rogue who instantly returns to hide until scouts stopped insta-gibbing people with little to no skill.
What I'm trying to say is, In my honest opinion, use faces to kill a gate is just as legitimate as Hide or Ice Blade in siege.
So if it is a coding mistake and you use that , thats an exploit.
Thing that bugs me most is no official response from Froggy who could clear this all up in 2 mins .. Bad Froggy for letting us twist in the wind.
That sums it up right there, Nytefall comes on says exploit/no exploit, the end. While I appreciate Kalvan posting he is still just a player like us, he may use it himself. The GM/CM always answer the bubble gum cotton candy threads but pass over these ones. Even if it is an exploit expect it to be done and watch your gates.
We've reported this matter to the developers, as we're not completely sure if it is working as they intend or if it is something that they did not anticipate.
However, at this time, we do not feel it is an exploit, and will not penalize players for using this tactic.
Use it or not, as you see fit or as your strategies require.
Above all, have fun!
All of the staff play RoM, though some of us have less time to do so than others.
I don't and haven't used FoTs placed against an opponent's gates. Not only is it not terribly cost-effective, but it's also very easy to defend against or mitigate, and there are obviously faster ways to take down a gate.
Who gives a crap if it is an exploit or not? It is a stupid way to try to take down a gate. Last night in siege our opponents tried it. They failed miserably. They got killed while they were farming merits near our castle for them, buying them, and after they had some put down. It took about 2 seconds to destroy about 15 fots on one of our gates. On the other hand we used probably less merits and a lot less time and bought scrolls and took their gates down with ease several times. (destroying their procs as well) If you are using this method in siege please let us know. That way we will know when we are fighting nubs who have no business in siege. Yay! Easy Badges! If you cannot defend against this strat, please let us know as well, so we will know you are an even bigger nub. In either case, if you are whining about this strat, using it, or cannot defend against it, please do not sign up for siege anymore so someone more worthy can have your spot.
Faces of treachery
HEY FROGGY AND RUNEWAKER = Please fix your bug/exploit or whatever you want to call it, but fix the fact that faces of treachery can somehow magically destroy gates and buildings. And for all you guilds that use this exploit to win are pretty sad
Put 1-2 towers behind gate where no one can attack to kill any faces and always keep an eye on gates.
Problem solved.
It's not like it's hard to counter.. get one mage or warrior or any other class with a semiuseful aoe and they will kill every single one of them in one hit.
1 way is To put towers Like king suggest, another way is to put"focus" on your gate( right click on gate and choose "focus").
I like to do that do I can monitor if the gates are being attack while pew pew in the frontline. ( We normally has less than 10 ppl in siege).
We have no ideal whether they are gonna do anything about this new"siege machine".so try out te methods mention.
^ What he said.
It strikes me as a somewhat dirty tactic, but the Powers that Be have officially OK'd it, so I'm not gonna complain if anyone does it to us, but I'll discourage my guys from using it since scrolls are a much more efficient means of taking down a gate.
Mind you, invis tower + fots... actually sounds sort of interesting as a tactic. Guess the moral of the story is keep an eye on all your gates. Still, scrolls are reusable and can't be destroyed by one mage with one tick of a Tstorm.
