Except...you can just roflstomp a gate? And that is the only way to deal with gates. The only way to take out a gate is to use scrolls and a tornado and essentially take it out in one go. (Or use faces of trech, which totally shouldent work anyways)
Imagine this scenario: gates take slightly more damage, not as much as dots used to do but more than normal attacks do now. Then remove scrolls, fix faces, make it so nourish doesnt work on the gate, and cut the healing a gate receives by 10-20% (via a permanent unclensable debuff). Now you are FORCED to beat on the gate (or use siege engines) and spend time to take it out, no easy mode with scrolls or faces. AND you have a chance to take it out since heals were nerfed.
You can already cut the healing of gates down to almost nothing if you take advantage of one of those tricksy debuffs I was referring to.
And it's already too easy to take a gate down.
So, they have a gazillion flames up that you can't kill? NP, just go get four scrolls. Poof, gate dead.
If anything, they should get rid of scroll damage- you and I agree on that. You can beat a gate down by hand, and it doesn't even take all that long- it's just a lot slower than the rogue/rape of chap 4. I think gates should be a real challenge.
The thing I LIKE about Nourish and the other buffs is that it adds something strategic to the fight. If you have a d/w, if you have a p/r or a d/r, you can actually do some interesting stuff. It adds a dimension to the fight.
I wish they'd add more stuff like that. Less brute force, more asking people to come in on their weird other class combo.
