Casters resisting everything I throw at them

So I'm not completely endgame, but am pretty close. I'm a 72 m/p with full shell gear statted with bygone and glorious using a t9, +16 PQ. I have 12.5k int and 54k mag att unbuffed and lately in siege I have been going up against casters (mages, priests, warlocks, etc.) much weaker than me and they are resisting or immuning nearly every spell I throw at them. I know they are not in holy aura or any kind of fearless state. Some are statted horribly and still it takes way too many spells to drop them. The whole while, I'm not resisting anything, which makes no sense since I have 65k mdef...

Anyone have any insight into this?

Mdef does not equal resist.

Wisdom is what gives resist. If you don't stat any wisdom, you won't resist anything regardless how much mdef you have. Mdef reduces the amount that magic hits you for, resist is what you get from wisdom. And since healers, even "Lesser geared statted horribly healers" usually have alot of wisdom, you will have trouble hitting them.

And to add to Borella's reply, if you want to hit them, +16 pieces that give wis (usually belt and legs for cloth users), stat some wis (please don't, horrid idea lol) or grab the mage set skill from sardo castle that gives a passive 950 accuracy (costs 3m).

Livia (82 P/77 K/75 S) wisdom O.o wtf is that...

This explains a lot for me as well. No wonder its usually always the lower geared mages that resist a lot, with wisdom stats being half of the price as Int stats >.<

WTB Wis/matk and Wis HP statted mage gear!

Think of "resistance" in this terms.

Magical defense ----> physical defense
Magical Resistance ---> dodge

Wisdom gives both magical defense, and magical resistance, theres a difference between the 2. Magical defense lowers damage taken from magical attacks. Magical resistance completely nullifies the attack, cause it to "resist", therefore taking 0 damage.

Priests actually get more mdef per wisdom than druids do. Problem is most priests stop at the wisdom cap for them (~7k wisdom), while most end-game druids have 10-16k wisdom unbuffed (I have 12k unbuffed). Add in the druid wisdom bonus passive and the casted wisdom buff... xD

I really do believe at some point healers will be almost impossible to kill for mages who have very little magical accuracy (only gained from wisdom, and since mages do not stack wisdom... another xD ).

To put it into perspective:
Most end game mages have around 3k-4k magical accuracy, unbuffed. They'll buff to maybe 5k magical accuracy.
Sitting unbuffed with 12k wisdom I have 7.6k magical resistance. Buffed to 16k wisdom (I stat a bit more pdef for siege than most), I get 10k magical resistance.

5k magical accuracy vs 10k magical resistance - and I'm not a full wisdom druid.

If you want to increase your magical accuracy without losing out on dps for pve, invest in Sorcery Runes (INT/WIS).

Long post is long so gonna end it here.

I guess this explains the priests and druids, but how much wisdom could these mages that have 20k hp on dirty statted elemental flame pieces have? It is somewhat odd when it takes me numerous spells to drop them rather than one fireball and/or a lightning. Could there be a possible problem with the calculations or am I just lacking magic accuracy that much? lol

as far as the mages fighting with priests and druids its kinda like knights,warrriors, and wardens fighting rogues. rogues get patt from dex therefore they can stat 15k dex and not only do they have major patt they also have a HUGE dodge and accuracy bonus, warrior, knight, and wardens don't get patt from dex so while they may put a few dex stats on their gear for the accuracy they don't have near the accuracy to actually take down a rogue that has round about same strength as they do because the rogue will always dodge and miss 70% of the attacks you throw at them, them on the other hand never miss lol. but its the same concept with mages attacking healers.

If you only bygone and glorious, how did you stat that gear, what Tier?

What pieces from shell set do you have?

I stat all my stuff like so:
1. int/stam glorious
2. int/mag att glorious
3. int/stam bygone
4. int/mag att bygone
5. int/def bygone
6. and one of either stam/mag att or mag att/hp eternity

So my initial statement of all glorious and bygone is a little off since I normally use one eternity in there. Either way, it works well enough without breaking the bank. It's also all T5 as of right now.

As for my gear, I'm using the shell gear. The 72 robe, hat, shoulders and boots and the 67 cape, gloves I think? and assembled parts pants. I'm at work and dont remember what the 72 and 67 stuff were, but I'm using all the shell gear that has magic crit on it and the vahtos accessory set. Not the most extravagent compared to Chap set or Jenny set but since they are barely ever for sale and when they are, its too much and not od. I weighed my options and went the cheaper way.
